  1. Wonder how that works?! A former manager back as one of the boys?? Must be awkward, at best, for everyone? If true, a very odd decision.
  2. Setanta ppv is available and usually show a live SPL game a week. Seeing as tonights game has been moved for setanta reasons I assumed it would be on but when I checked freeview last night it didn't have the game listed... The vital decision is so I know whether I go into work an hour early, or not?!
  3. Anyone know if tonights game is on setanta freeview for sure??
  4. Wilson shouldn't be captain, you need someone who encourages and motivates players. Players in these positions tend to be centre halfs and midfielders as they are in the heart of the action and have a 'team' personality while attacking players, by their nature, are more selfish and more inclined to moan when things aren't going their way. What I'm trying to say is you need a team player as captain and while I think Wilson brings a lot to the team and is one of our best players, he isn't a worker like a Dods, Munro, etc are. If we are changing captain it's Munro all the way for me.
  5. 5-1 and, I think, 5 debutants today as well :010: :017:
  6. Sounds bit like St Mrren are just swamping us at the mo... seem to be sitting too deep, need to start moving up a bit. Can beat this lot!
  7. 3-0 down, down to 10 men, it doesn't look good for Craigy boy! Don't like to see people lose thier jobs and didn't enjoy seeing either Robbo or Pele lose out at Hearts or the Dons but this is different. Surely he's gone by 5pm???
  8. Aye, what a night! Still the biggest result in our history! Who are the survivors of that night? Charlie's the boss now, Hastings, Wilson, Wyness, Tokely... anyone else? I think Golly and Caff were around then too but can't remember...
  9. I sometimes get the feeling with some of the more established guys in the squad that moves down to the central belt are viewed much the same as central belt guys coming up here, i.e. it isn't a very attractive proposition. It might be one reason why our squad remains so settled?
  10. Possibly the most consistent and certainly underrated centre halfs in the SPL. I'd have the pairing of McManus and Caldwell at the heart of the new defence but Grant could easily, and should, be in that squad when Weir, Pressley et al move on. Another thing, when Dods moves on at the end of the season, is there anyone else who could be captain? Munro gets my vote!
  11. Yeh, guess they were ok... who cares though....?
  12. Gordon Dailly Hendry Gough Naysmith Fletcher Baxter McAllister McFadden Law Dalglish Subs: Leighton, Pressley, Ferguson, Miller, Jordan Craig Gordon is potentialy our best ever keeper. No one will supass Kenny Dal or the Lawman
  13. The Gretna bubble will burst, in fact, it has already started to with the complete abolishment of their youth system. County are suffering a similar fate to Livi in that they tried to run before they could really walk, throwing money at players in the SPL race. I still think we got lucky gaining promotion when we did. For all the criticisms of the club off the field, we are probably the only one which breaks even every season and that is a pretty big achievement.
  14. I don't think anyone will be in pole position for anything, apart from Celtic, until March the way the league is shaping up. There are no teams I fear outside of the big three though, we are more than capable of taking points off everyone else and getting sound results (as Saturday proved!) against the big 3
  15. Having been at both games I have to say the Scotland result was the better one. It was tenser, the atmosphere better and just bigger on every scale. That takes nothing away from saturday, but we play Rangers 3/4 times a season, Scotland don't play the big teams all that often, and they don't come much bigger than France. The Scotland result felt similar to the february eigth 2000, absolutely unexpected and fantastic. I'm loving being in Weegieville and winding up the huns though!
  16. Just back from the game Yngwie and absolutely delighted with the result! As for tactics, I don't think we really sat in and invited Rangers to come at us. Nor did we put 11 behind the ball at all times. What we did was counter attack fantastically and we always had 2/3 options when breaking out. Well, until the last 15 mins when it was all hands to the pump! MY gripe was with the attitude of just going to frustrate and not saying we were going to have a go. The tactics today were spot on
  17. OK, I take on board that this is the way we have played away from home and it has gained success. Don't understand the point about not revealing our tactics though, you can't have it both ways! Surely by saying that Charlie is giving away the tactics?! I still think the attitude is overly negative though... why come out and say that?? I think we should always be stressing we are going to have a go and take the game to the other side. I've just always hoped we would never have the attitudes of, for example, Kilmarnock or a Motherwell where the primary object is not to lose and pile 11 men behind the ball...
  18. Charlies comment on tomorrows game (Inverness Courier "When you go to places like Ibrox you have to frustrate Rangers and make life difficult for them and we'll be going there on Saturday to do just that." What kind of attitude is that?! Every bloody team does that and when you sit and let them come at you they will over run us... We should be going to Ibrox to try and take the game to them which has been proved to work by any team that has the balls to actually challenge them!
  19. 'I was just as happy to follow ICT in our Div 1/2/3 days as I am now and was just as happy following Caley in the Highland League before that. Yes we should aspire to play at the highest level possible, but I am fast coming to the conclusion that the price you have to pay for that is far too high.' I followed ICT through the divisions also, and enjoyed it a lot, but I can't agree with that. The SPL is the ONLY place to be football wise in Scotland and if that means the odd game gets moved then I can live with that. I don't see why it has to be a monday, as I said earlier, although I perhaps understand the police reasons a bit better now.
  20. Really not a fan of a Monday night kick off, I think it is possibly the worst possible time to hold a match... Midweek matches tend to attract lower crowds anyway and this will be even worse. The issue with the police is that they apparently already have enough to deal with on a friday night without a football game to police also. Not sure I understand this argument, surely a sizeable number of those who would be in the pubs would be at the game?? And how many officers does it take to police a match? Does anyone know the quota? I think this potentially, could be an even worse attendance than the Kilmarnock game on New Years a couple years back!
  21. Ross County's start to the season: Played 6 Goal Difference -6 Points 6 :010: :010:
  22. The jury is still out on CC as a manager. I think he will come good. It's not as if we are sitting at the bottom of the league and CC himself made a good point pre-Utd, that being people saying Utd have had a good start to the season and us a mediocre one but we are above Utd! Tactically, I don't see much of a problem. 8 players in the centre circle is when a captain should be putting a rocket up them, CC's work is done pre-match and during the week. We play a compact and explosive game away from home which is entertaining but other teams play similar when they play us... Home games are always about the away team sitting in and we don't really have players who unlock defences. Bingham and Juanjo were both here for that, is it any coincidence that we have struggled at home since they haven't been around? Hopefully Rankin can provide that but again, the jury is still out.
  23. When did we earn the right to belittle any cup?? Only the CIS Cup? Fecksake. It's our biggest chance to win a trophy and should be something we take seriously every year
  24. Tokely in the centre?!! :017: I remember that experiment from a few years ago, disaster! Ross is an effective but limited player, a one trick pony if you like. He's been pretty stretched so far this season, don't think a change of position would help anyone. Caff is more thna capable of filling Dods boots. Dods may be more physical but Caff is faster and uses the ball better and I rate him as a much better footballer than Dods.
