  1. Wow--is he off then? That was short and not so sweet , it seems. If he did not measure up to T B's assessment how much work did TB put in to retrain his attitudes etc. If narcissism was the problem then did he meet him in the dressing room , lock the door and let him have it? Then follow up with the carrot--something like "you've got a big future here if you realise that you are just another TEAM player and are prepared to work very hard to PROVE yourself. Your future lies in your own hands --I'm from Missouri originally, so ....."SHOW ME". You know-- just stroking his ego and being nice and gentle. Unlike Tade, who is a worker, it doesn't seem as if Claude was, so ....bye, bye Claudia. Caley Thistle needs workers, not guys who think the word "entitlement" means me first and you have to say..."After you Claude"
  2. Is that part of the Caley team--all in unison, like? The first photo--was that a duck or a monster? King Henry the 8th used to refer to his new wife's precious assets as "little duckies". Is that significant? :love02: Sorry, manfer ...you just missed....... 'cos I ducked.
  3. Pressing "new content" for me results in long waits prior to the thread opening. This tends to encourage you to click again and again.
  4. Charles. "No can do." would have been sufficient. Your liberal, lengthy loqaciousness is making me feel inadequate. Again! Do you employ journalistic jockeying as a jousting manoeuvre or doth thou simply jest-eth? In juxtaposition, like? Hoi! The thread is turning into a real jolly jape,
  5. Terrt B came in like a bull in a china shop, trying to make wholesale changes all round hoping that a miracle woudl happen I suppose. Instead getting rid of the backbone of the team has had the opposite effect and a "could have been forseen " result. Sorry but he should have made his changes gradually, replacing each player with a proven and experienced one and gradually moving the team forward inch by inch without giving away the farm or undermining either the harmony or the stability and placement (in the league standings) of the club. But he is here now for another year so let's see what happens.
  6. Fit? IF YES -then play him. He's an asset that could help put more points on the board. He deserves it and so do the fans. Unfit? --No contest? He wants to move? --If so, he will not be happy where he is right now and this will rub off on other players. But do it with class and don't harbour bad feelings because every player has the right to better himself. He will also find out soon enough that the grass may not be as green as he thinksit is when he gets over the fence. Then move him for as high a price as can be obtained. The money would be very useful in getting another player who has desire to play for ICT, or to spend on training, improving and encouraging local youngsters who have talent and ....wait for it....yes, have a great desire to play for Inverness Caledonian Thistle Football Club.
  7. Then it WAS a (Gas) bar trip....?
  8. The Fairfield Dyeworks was on the rigt side of tomnahurich Street a few yards from Kenneth Street if you are coming down from the river .Would that be the North East corner of that junction.? Charles I suppose you don't remember the Bon Accord lemonade truck either do you?
  9. 3rd set was at the Fairfield Dyeworks wasn't it?
  10. Smee As you have probably noticed, I try not to single any one out individually to complain about their attitudes--unless attacked, of course. But If you would show up next season and try to remain positive throughout that WOULD be a change. Adversity is normal throughout life but it can only be over come with a positive attitude. Anything else is depressing and counter productive. Please!
  11. P R work is very important. In Canada many players on the ice hockey teams use their reputations to gain entry to kids' hospitals, schools for the disabled and other charity work. The kids get so excited and love them and their visits...if a disabled child has been lying in a bed for months then you can imagine what a huge uplift they get if one of these massive hockey players , all decked out in their playing gear, comes in to the ward and and sits down on your bed for a face to face chat. From all accounts, the players also get a real charge from it too. Frequent lotteries are run for these organisations with the participation of the players and so on. All of this gains approval in the community and stresses the fact that the local "hockey" team ....e.g. The Vancouver Canucks, is really interested in the welfare of the disadvantaged and in participating in the community face to face. ICT would benefit by asking players to go to see kids in hospitals in this way and give out free tickets to anyone who is there on the day. They must sew the seeds of goodwill around the city and that means that they have to go out into the community and be direct with the message that they are a good club, are interested in helping the disadvantaged and meeting people half-way. There may be doctors and nurses there who have never considered going to a game and one visit by the players may just be the trigger to "at least take-in one game".Especially if they have kids. Face -to face is what is needed because people like to see who you are and assess your character and worth. Simple as that. A genuine desire to help, and improve the day to day life of an injured or disadvantaged child, can be appreciated all round. The players should be encouraged to do this kind of community work because soon it will not be simply a chore but an emtionally rewarding experience. Over to you , folks.
  12. Does ICT have a lottery, Alex? There must be other money coming in to their club from somewhere--a wealthy investor? On the park, this team looks well-trained, hard working and has ability. They also look like they have an upbeat spirit which usually emanates from harmony, and not stress-related problems, within the club. So players of ability will feel that they are playing for a good team, even if it is small, and will feel good coming to work every day. You can understand a foreign player who is past his best wanting to ease out of football by coming to what is regarded as a league that is inferior to English or Spanish top flight ones but still wants a decent wage and/or signing on fee.Yet ( the likes of )Sandaza does not look as if he is on the verge of collapse and appears to still be passionate about his game. So he must be really quite happy there. The whole set-up seems odd doesn't it? But there must be money somewhere because I feel that he is probably being well-rewarded. Come to think of it how does ICT survive and keep their players happy too?
  13. In a sense, very smart. Provided he continues by concentrating on building up a stronger defense immediately. If the defence is rteally strong everybdy castart to relax more and confidence begins to build int he whole team. Then growing confidence leads to a more relaxed and productive output, more enjoyment for both players and fans and ....before you know it..."we're top of the League and you're no". :love02: This will give him breathing room to be more selective, as time goes on, to recruit new strikers or re-train and improve existing forwards or promote younger boys from within the club's own ranks. If that does not work, then he has to be even more selective in who he brings in from outside.
  14. Down to earth football and JUST WHAT THE DR. ORDERED. Very entertaining .Pity you rareley see the bunnets these days... eh?
  15. T B can have all the personality and charisma in the world but if his decisions about brininging in loanees, i.e only temporary players really, and players from far away with no possibility of identfication with this area, then what good is it? The ideas floated around here about scouring the lower divisions is equally as good as the ones about going to English teams for loanees. And I am sure that it is likely that we can get them for a small amount of money. I just do not subscribe to the view that any player coming in on loan from way down south is ever going to have his heart committed to ICT and, to be quite honest , I don't see Terry being that emotionally committed either. Success and recognition for being a winner is probably his motivator. Later, if he stays in Inverness this might change. In the short term I think he has his hands full ,judging by his policy to date, to get this team into the upper echelons of the SPL. It's all about time and I don't feel that he has a lot of it at his disposal. To set up a winning, consistent and stable team he needs more time, more players committed exclusively to ICT.....AND and more players with experience. And, in all categories, being Scottish.
  16. OMG. Born Caley , you must be nearly, (but not quite) as old as the Pimple. And all this time I have been thinking of you as being an enthusiastic youngster..... Obviously one of us is having memory problems--you remember it as an evening game and I remember it as being an afternoon one,. Did Caley have flooodlights in these days? If so, they were not on. . Therefore it must havp played on a Summer evening....eh?
  17. Tichy, I am eally intrigued as to where you dig up all this interesting stuff?
  18. TICHY--WHAT A GUY. iMAGINE YOU DIGGING THAT ONE UP. YES! I WAS 17 YEARS OLD AT THE TIME. AND IT MUST HAVE BEEN THE FIRST TIME THAT I SAW A 'FOREIGN 'TEAM AT T IT WAS A CLEAR, FAIR DAY AND LEICESTER WERE IN THE WHITE STRIP. I also remember that the English boys were taller and fitter than the select lads. Does anybody else remember that game by any chance>
  19. I remember a game between them in the 1950's, . They played in a white strip then.....? Leicester won by a couple of goals. Is anybody interested...?
  20. One other option , if they can't afford the financial costs of releasing him, would have been to simply not allow him to function as manager and telling someone else within the club to take over these duties. This would be morally devastating to the Manager and not the right thing to do but if the club feels that desperate measures are justified, because they cannot afford the cash outlay of terminating his contract, then the only argument that they could probably muster in favour of such a move would be that they felt to save it then clearly they must feel that his presence can do nothing more for the protection of the club and its future. The object would be, in this case, to try to force him to leave but it would also cause even more confusion -- i.e if he was to hang around instead of departing without a settlement. Pity that club--their troubles never seem to cease. Hopefully, the wisdom of the Caley Thistle Board will prevail in all future events affecting our club and they can weather all future financial storms. Phew!
  21. Looks like we spent an awful lot of money , one way or the other, on this promotion to the SPL gig. Maybe Ross County have more very wealthy backers than us. Wouldn't be surprised if Mr MacGregpor is one of them. We should scratch their back if we ever want the same treatment in return, at a later date. Apart from that , it is the right thing to do.
  22. Seer? IHE Are ye no gettin' too auld fer that caper? Brahan, or All Bran, ? Postulate and Prognosticate or Regulate and de-Constipate? Ach weel, it all ends the same way!.................comments invited? Be nice, now.
  23. I find mobile 'phones to be very interesting. I don't understand them. They must be important are they? After all, every kid seems to have one. But , strangely enough, I never see any of them out in the street playing soccer or ice hockey and being on the phone too. Come to think of it, I rarely see kids in the streets at all these days. Mostly indoors on their computer, or watching T V or on their IPhone I suppose. My oh , my! What are they missing? How can they get to be a fan if they never learn how to kick a ball...eh?Looks like talking on the thingy beats that hands down. Charles, are you worried about these trends? O.K., O.K. , those that don't have one must be eggheads, spending their time on their books , having a bright future and no doubt their use will assist them in a possible future media career. But will they teach them how to talk "proppa"..like? Anyway, chums, ah'm off tae the 'phone store to get one fer mah wife. She's twenty years younger than Mr Pimple so ah supppse she qualifies....like?
  24. Thinking back--a long way--I am reminded that the average gate at the Caley park on Telford Street was about 3,000. The difference between the two comparisons is, of course, the cost of getting in. Methinks that MUST have something to do with it--especially in these times.
