  1. Just give him the captaincy after Johnny gets injured again, An inspiration to the team--leads from the front and by example.
  2. Nice one Ross. W.ell-written. Grfant munro coming back? Doubt it but--any prospect of that happening do you think?
  3. Do you mean when the refs are on their side?
  4. Recently, when accessing new content by clicking the blue dot placed to the left of the thread heading I find that instead of going to the last unread post I am now taken to the very first post in a thread. Can you please look into this. Thanks.
  5. Rarely get to see anything about ICT now on T V, or video (apart from the ICT webpage highlights) and the BBC have successfully stopped all overseas radio broadcasts,so I feel as if I am slowly being starved of news. It's sad and it's also changed days when service meant at least as much as making money for the BBC and their ilk.
  6. His leaving is just anther loss, CHIPPEN away at the loanees roster.....like.
  7. Technology in . Bad decisions controlled. In the National (ice) Hockey League in North America an official is always willing to explain a controversial decision to the captain of the team against whom the call is made. There are two rexperienced referees on the ice, maybe more. I don't watch the refs, just the puck. Each of these referees has the ability to call and stop the play with their whistle which makes sense because one may be at one end of the rink and the other may be at the opposite end. Cameras are everywhere and the officials are never loathe to consult "upstairs", where the suited officials are sitting at their T.V's watching the videos, for a ruling on any play. And the suits have the final decision. There are also at least two cameras at the goal nets--one directly above them looking down at the goal-lines and one inside the net looking outward. Cameras also seem to have huge fields of view which is very helpful so that other action around the nets can be seen and assessed as to whether a foul has been committed against, say, the goalie; which of course could alter the decision as to whether a goal has been scored. Some goalies are beaten but seem to smother the puck under their arm or body at the last minute so no one actually see it going over the line but he frequently slides back himself over the line and lies there pretending he has brilliantly saved a goal....that can be a trucky one if he can slide forward gain really quickly .Smile. The fans do not resent or argue about these decisions based on technology and it is a great way to take the personal biases of refs, or anyone else, out of the picture. Instant replays on huge screens ensure that all the fans have a good view of the action and the refs get a lot of respect, except when a huge fighting melee breaks out on the ice, like what happend in Boston last Saturday when the Vancouver Canucks re-visited the team that beat them in the final game of the Staney Cup last year in a league game. It was expected but the refs were helpless and ignored by all the combatants. LOL . Vancouver were the winners on this occasion 4-3, just as the riot trials have started back home in Vancouver. So I am sold on technology and it seems extremely ridiculous in this day and age that Scottish football is not in the forefront of these deveopments.
  8. Well, Terry might be reluctant to see them go but ,when they do, he will have that issue settled and can make plans, hopefully, for a future situation where the players brought in are more than just loanees. No matter how talented they may be, most still seem young and inexperienced and definitley probably never will be committed 100% to ICT.Loanees are good for stop-gap situaitons, or even on trial, but expecting a permanent commitment I don't think so. Is this all because of lack of money? Or is it a result of thewholesale clear-out that Terry decided upon at the beginning of the season? I thought he had taken leave of his senses, because what he did was bold enough but a very big gamble indeed , to be honest , but let's see what happens by the end of the season.
  9. Just tell them, Laurence, that you are from Arabia and everybody will ask for your autograph. Meanwhile back at our web site, just remember it's all in fun ....
  10. Ha! Ha! Ha! We didn't have a telephone in my young day , nor T V until I had left home for good, nor cell phones , nor fridges, nor clothes washers (except the boiler) and radio was the communucationlink to the word. No skiing either. Wasn't life blissfully simple and uncomplicated, though? No wonder we couldn't wait to get outsde to play after school and we invented most of our fun to keep ourselves happy. Morse was quiet, efficient and , believe it or not, not that difficult to learn with a bit of effort. But when I went into the Air Cadets it seems they never used it. LOL
  11. Now he is a top banana , Laurence and you made it only as an author or seller of books? Whos is the girl?
  12. My, Alex you are showing your age. Is that Morse Code I see before me or Esperanto, pray? I remember using a living room hand lamp up in my bedrpoom when I was a wee boy to signal a morse code message out the window from Dunain Road to my pal who was sitting at his back bedroom window in his house at Telford Gardens . Brings back memories of a less stressed time and the adventures of youth and exploration. I am not sure whether I saw myself in these exciting days as Biggles or David Livingstone the guy who went up the Zambesi to find the headwaters. Little did I ever think that I would eventually end up in Canada. Ironically enough I left Blamntyre for the Canadian wilderness and Blantyre vis where david Livingstone had his wee home before he left for Africa. There you go.
  13. Only 1600-- Wow. ? Once upon a time the Sottish Cup could fill the ground. Sad days I must say. If Caley Thistle can stave off relegation and make even a little bit of money from the 'Cup this season then I think we can count our blessings. Terry, for whatever reason, your plans for the team are not working out this season and if you can't stabilise this team with decent regulars, preferably Scottish ones and from the North, you could be in trouble next season. I can't help wondering what John Robertson would have done with the club this season had he been the Manager? I'm all for giving any new person a chance but if you bring in players who do not have both feelings for this Northern club where can we go and what can we expect from them. Loanees and sudden disappearances (e.g. Davis) are creating a veryunstable climate I fear. But , at least , if we can get Golobart on a good contract atb the end of the season wouldn't that be a victory . Johhny will be off though, I fear so Terry will have to be on the 'phone again and again to try and get more decent players in. Oh My! Scarlet is so confused.
  14. But he doesn't care what people thinks , does he? If you were born and grew up in the Soviet Bloc and learned very early on in your lfe that the best thing you can do is to keep your mouth shut ( hear all, see all and say nowt) then you would understand that when someone comes over to a free-er society he will change, especially if he has proved himself in a very difficult and very corrupt society, succeeded against all odds and made himself into a very independent business man by his own efforts or by being more corrup than the corrupt. This very testing more than a ring of truth to them. :salute:
  15. Unless free speech is now outlawed in the U.K. or anywhere else, then any member of the public, whether a supporter of ICT or not, has the right to send and email or letter, or by other means of contact, to Bodies such as a compliance officer of any organisation to express his opinion on anything. Whether he/she influences anyone to change a ruling or decision on matters such as this. or even gets the courtesy of a reply, surely depends on whether or not he or she has couched the letter in non-abusive, legal-type language and whether the recipient has, or has not, got the good manners to reply. Attacking the Moderators in this way is meaningless and achieves nothing of value because every poster on here at this time knows, or should know, that they do an excellent job of controlling posts and opinions from many different types of member across a wide spectrum of latitude. Without in any way trying to deny Marks his right to expression on here most of this has now degenerated into close-to farcical nonsense and seems to be more of an attempt at self-justfication rather than a genuine attempt to address the main question. This thread has, imho , been done to death and I encourage Marks to write to the Compliance officer immediately and let us know when he gets a reply.
  16. So that's where Esperanto originated from...Twitter? OMG.
  17. :gettingangry: :toothy: :gettingangry: What a guy. Brilliant stuff. Hope the final is as filled with drama as has been dished up so far. Earlier, Scarlet was full of praise for Scotty and Don for increasing the size of the text on here and lo and bleeding behold he's just noticed that he can read the stuff only because he's running the online magifyer at 150% . Ha ! Ha! Ha! . Happy New Year everybody from an unusually mild and drizzly day here in Western Canada. from leaving. Jeez, that was some stramash.......
  18. Many thanks Scotty for trying to educate a confused and, as some would have it, a rather elderly Pimple. I am game to try anything and will do as you advise M'Lud. There IS life in the old dawg yet ,Master, but you should have seen me in me prime--a thing of wonder, no less. However, Keep it Simple Sam has been my mantra since I was 85 yrs old and started to feel the rapid decline of the synapses in me brain and observed the even more rapid deterioration in some of our most celebrated and clever posters but I can't help but wonder why it was fixed when it wisnae broke. One formerly entered the site, read the posts, marked them as read and that was it for the day.The next visit was simple since one started with a blank sheet . Topping. Dream topping. But this is your site M'Lud and who is a semi senile Pimple to question your bright and breezy efforts? For me, more is not necessarily good, just confusing and challenging. Lang may yer lum reek. Can't fault you for effort that's fer sure.
  19. Well, if such a tackle is against the rules it could be a deal breaker for ICT to launch a law suit against the SFA for refusing to act on "The rules" to punish the player. Extreme? No !!! By taking this immediate and decisive action, ICT would show how strong this team and their management is and that this problem will no longer be tolerated. If you are not prepared to fight for what you believe in then no wonder you get singled out for improper treatmemnt. That's why I liked Terry's rants against the SFA. Putting up with this kind of crap, game after game, earns the club no respect and in fact may be promoting and exacerbating the cynical attitudes that currently prevail at high levels. An unimpeded continuance of this unfair treatment at the expense of "The Rules" will hurt ICT and further reduce the reputation of Scottish football. What's needed is for the beaten dog to suddenly turn on the beater and give him or her a savage bite and a shock that they will not recover from quickly. RESPECT chums. Go for it ICT. Anyone agree wth this?
  20. Speed of downloading is definitely improved as C. Bannerman said. Scotty and Caley D, you do try very hard to be responsive to the constructive comments of members. :salute: The site looks crisp and sharp and, yes, really modern. Frankly it looks very professional indeed. Briliant. What also delighted me this time around was that the text is much larger and easier to read. I am now visually impaired and can hardly see anything with my right eye--blurred images only and cannot read any text -- and this has helped me greatly. The size of this reply box is now much wider which also is great for me and it allows what you have written to be more easily read and assessed for error correction purposes. I think that these changes are very thoughtful and necessary in this day and age because of the increasing number of baby boomers about to retire and afflicted, or about to be afflicted, with vision problems. So that "Accessibility" seems to be the developing new buzz-word of this era. I became a volunteer with the Canadian NationaI Institute for the Blind in a project which was aimed at getting the Federal Government to grant up to $7,000,000 for assistance with deveoping one central library for the blind in Canada instead of every Municipalityhaving their own individual libraries all with varying degrees of accessibility. Each of us had to study statistics and volumes of information on the subject of the number of people developing blindness from various diseases, prepare a submission to our local Federal M.P. then get an interview with him and ultimately we were successful in getting the funds .We put up such a powerful case that the Feds just threw their arms up in the air, begged us to stop pestering them and granted us the money. My whole point here is that the increasing number of seniors becoming disabled in the eye department was shocking. Upwards of one million this year in Canada alone. Is it possible to introduce a spell checker function in the box in which we post our contributions to the threads.? My typing results, because of the above disability, are now repeatedly freakish and going back over every word to correct the individual errors requires a lot of time. The use of a spell checker with, hopefully, an instant red underlined function for immediate correction would be fantastic.
  21. Scotty Thanks. Didn't mean to give the impression that I was pushing you but thought that most , or all, of the changes had been implemented. Sorry about that. I did actually select "content that I have not read" right from the get-go. By trial and error I settled on clicking on FORUMS and then selected "content I have not read" . So what I think you are saying is that even if I click on "Mark all as Read" , located in the top right of the red heading of New Content list that comes up, I can't expect that it will delete these read threads until after 24 hours have passed from the date and time of the last posting ? Er, just one thought,though.... How can I select both "Content that I have not read" and "Past 24 hours" at the same time under the heading "By Time Period"-- don't we have to make only one selection under each headng ? :love02:
  22. Can someone please repy to the two quetions that I asked in my post of yesterday at 9.07 p.m.. That would be appreciated.
  23. I am sti;ll strugg;ling with these changes. e.g. How do you delete all read posts in the "new Content" thread after reading all thos e you wanted to. Has this been taken out. I did click on a link stated to =be this yestetday anjd all diaappeared but o and behold the next time I came into the new content thread they all came back? Why are the emoticom images I select to chuff up IHE all coming out as red "X''s on the individual replies on any thread instead of the actual picture images being shown as before? Is this just a glitch for the time being that you may be working on ?
  24. IHE--You are awful..but i like you. :hahaha:
  25. Has to be good for the Highlands. And will surely put a gag on the big mouths down South who moan a lot about the long journey north.
