  1. Not doing too badly this week at the Players
  2. Not too bothered which of them it is. Would be good to see Falkirk back in the top league but then again with a 20 team league there would be room for all three but that isn't going to happen
  3. I am not sure the majority believe Devine is a poor player but from what I have seen he does appear to be prone to making errors that have been costly - but then to be brutally honest he is not alone in that regard this season. I have no issue with Devine staying at the club as he is still young and can improve. As for Raven hopefully he will get a good send-off today and maybe possibly a last appearance (and who knows a goal ) from the bench as he deserves it. I agree with you though - what we are currently seeing does appear to be a bigger issue than just one or two players and there is a lot of pressure now on Hughes to get these new 'quality' players in quickly who will improve the team. After the last few seasons I thought this type of situation had now gone but it looks like we may be heading back to the days of upheaval and last minute transfers to supplement our squad numbers. Hopefully I am proved wrong as stability within the core of the squad has been our major strength over the last few seasons.
  4. Yeh - the courier article today stated £3,570 per day over a period that starts two weeks before the tournament to the day after the team's last game. A minimum of £89,250. Hoping therefore we get him signed up and Wales make the final

My money would be on France. I can't believe it is 18 years since WC98 and our last goal scored at a major finals tournament by Craig Burley at Parc Lescure in Bourdeaux. My outside punt would be Austria. Does anybody fancy a team out with the usual suspects?
  6. Even within the football league it appears that cases like this are not fairly clear cut. There have been a number of different scenarios played out over the years down south with respect to the size of the fines, amount of suspended fines and docking of points. The one consistent item they appear to have is the games are not replayed. Therefore it appears that the SPFL have gone for the inconsistent approach which at least makes them consistent with their quasi-quango nature. Got to say the United fine of £30,000 does appear to be way over the top considering the offence. Is somebody at the SPFL possibly taking the opportunity to have one last twist of the knife with Stephen Thompson.
  7. "The disciplinary hearing concluded that replaying the game before the end of the season - with the final round of games scheduled for this weekend - was not practical." Not correct - they could have replayed the game the following midweek if they really wanted it. They have therefore made the decision that we should not have the opportunity to collect the 3 points although they clearly believed that was what should have been the solution. A quite bizarre decision.
  8. I assume these are modern photos of the same 6th green shown in the 1983 photograph with a hedge at the back of the 7th tee box?
  9. My father remembers playing there in the late 1950s so it must have been there from at least the 1950s. Craig Dunain Hospital closed in 1999 but not sure when the golf course closed but I can remember it in the early 1980s.
  10. Good photo - not a mushroom in sight - when did you reckon it opened and closed?
  11. In principle a good idea....would like to sign the Polish guy on the right but on past experience we are more likely to get the guy on the left....
  12. Came across these in a recent clean out - if I recall they were from the late 70s or early 80s - I am sure there were a few more in the set....
  13. Yeh - another reason for the club to get his new offer sorted out I see that the England Euro 2016 squad has 'allegedly' been posted by the FA on-line by error prior to Hodgson's announcement - if true then this is the squad. Personally I think it is a hoax - if not then Hodgson has lost the plot and somebody at the FA can't spell:
  14. Somebody having a laugh at your expense - or at least I hope so - would be an awful signing....
  15. Tichy Black's Back HT: 1-0 FT: 3-1 1st ICT: Storey 1st Opp: Hemmings Time of 1st Goal: 16 min Cal's Thistle HT: 2-0 FT: 4-1 1st ICT: Tansey 1st Opp: Hemmings Time of 1st Goal: 12 min

  17. I agree the Warren-Meekings partnership does appear to be our best - I have not seen anything else this season to suggest otherwise. We have all been focused on the fact that we need to have more depth (and quality) in our forward positions but I think with our abundance of midfield options we really need to be looking at our defensive options in more detail. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but do we not appear to currently have a great depth in our defensive positions and I can't say I have been impressed with what I have seen of Devine or Horner this season.
  18. Wales have announced there initial 29 man training squad for their pre-Euro 2016 training camp and OFW is in the group. No Bale as he has been left out to allow him to recover with Real. Danny Ward (ex-Aberdeen) is also included but he has just suffered an injury in training at Liverpool so there is a very good chance OFW will be at the Finals. How does the compensation work when players appear at major finals - do they actually have to play. If I recall we got money when Marius Niculae appeared in Euro 2008. The full Wales squad is: Goalkeepers: Wayne Hennessey, Danny Ward, Owain Fon Williams. Defenders: Ashley Williams, James Chester, Ben Davies, James Collins, Chris Gunter, Adam Matthews, Neil Taylor, Adam Henley, Paul Dummett, Ashley Richards. Midfielders: Joe Ledley, Joe Allen, David Vaughan, Emyr Huws, Jonathan Williams, David Edwards, George Williams, Aaron Ramsey, Andy King. Attackers: David Cotterill, Hal Robson-Kanu, Tom Lawrence, Simon Church, Sam Vokes, Wes Burns, Tom Bradshaw. Also are there are any other players with Inverness Caley Thistle connections going to be appearing at the Euros or even playing or have played in Scotland? Two others in the Wales training squad are Danny Ward (ex-Aberdeen loan from Liverpool) and Simon Church (MK Dons loan to Aberdeen).
  19. Arenas de Getxo have a familiar strip
  20. Yeh - they have it listed under Highlands & Islands instead of Inverness. Not much information although it states it was opened in the 1970s/80s whereas I thought it was there earlier than that. It was one of four Scottish hospitals that had there own golf courses on site. Unfortunately there are no photographs for the course.
  21. Thanks for the clarification - this is the ambaile link: http://www.ambaile.com/detail/en/11292/1/GD11292-fosgladh where they state it is the Longman clubhouse opening. You would have to assume that the centenary booklet would be correct and ambaile may have just got the description wrong.
  22. Thanks - I thought that was where it might be. Therefore the line of trees on the left are in front of what would now the back gardens of the houses on Eriskay Road and the tee box in the photograph would be roughly where the women's tee is today. Interestingly none of the trees that run along the burn or elsewhere on the course today appear to have been planted yet in the old photograph.
  23. Caley Ladies 1926 - don't actually remember any of the Inverness teams having a ladies team in the second half of the 20th century but 90 years later there is definitely an Inverness ladies team
  24. The opening of the temporary Culcabock golf club course at the Longman (source: Am Baile) - Am Baile states 1895 but the course was opened in 1893 according to Inverness Golf Club history page
