Pyros have had a tradition in Germany and many other countries on the continent. There has never been an issue until some law and order politicians decided to make everything illegal in order to justify a return to pre-democratic times. Pyros are still legally used in other countries like e.g. Switzerland and don't cause any major problems. The demands of the police unions also include things like naked scans for anyone they don't like, something UNO has clearly marked and not compatible with basic human rights. And as I said, this whole thing is not about football, but much more. Remember the 1930s... There is a time and place for pyro, and unfortunately, unless it is done in a controlled fashion then there IS an issue. I talk from experience here as one of the supporters groups that follows Toronto FC has a reputation for partaking in the odd bit of pyro, be it smoke bombs or flares and during the last game of the season against Montreal in October I was 2 rows behind and about 4 seats over from some bright sparks who decided it would be good to let off 3 smoke bombs in the stands simultaneously. In a controlled environment, and with a proper product, you are correct in saying this would not be an issue, but when fans take it upon themselves to do this they invariably end up with products not designed for use in this manner. The smoke bombs at the TFC game were crazy. I don't have asthma, but even 3 hours later I was still suffering and it took 3 days for my vocal chords to recover from the smoke that passed down my throat into my lungs ... I was very close to going to the hospital to get checked out, but decided to take up a friend's offer of some medicinal Glenlivet instead .... it didnt really help, but for a while it felt like it did ! In previous seasons, we have seen flares in the stands and almost always, these are 'road flares' which burn at an incredible temperature and spit out residue that can instantly burn and scar a person for life rather than safer flares which can be used for pyro. As for Fireworks, just look at the stats after bonfire night from any year ..... The worst part of my pyro/flare experience is that TFC were initially not against the idea of "organised" pyro, but to satisfy Health and Safety regulations and to avert the risk of them being sued if someone was hurt, it would have to have been done officially and with the person responsible having obtained all the relevant certificates and permits ... This has nothing to do with being anti-democratic or quoshing someone's human rights, and everything to do with making sure the person who decides to let these things off is not putting their "human right" to do so above the human rights of the other 20,000 in the ground to be safe ! Needless to say, TFC are no longer interested in allowing fans to do this ... safely or otherwise ! This is the aftermath of the pyro - was way thicker just a few seconds earlier but I dont have a pic of that !

they should be allowed to sell the same percentage of their home allocation as they did for the away game!!! So if they sell 100% of their away tickets then they can sell 100% of tickets normally made available to home fans. Sell 0% of their away allocation, then it's 0% of their normal home allocation!!!!

Will they be accepting their 50% share of the gate receipts? That could actually be a very interesting (legal) debate .... Regardless of any boycott by fans organisations, assemblies or lodges, if 'rangers' the club, are not accepting their allocation, and at least attempting to sell them on to those fans who dont wish to boycott, then IMO (humble or not) they should forfeit the right to claim any share of the gate whatsoever. They are refusing to sell them, their fans are threatening to boycott so its a no brainer. DUFC should sell the entire ground to the home support and keep all the money ! As for the collective noun for groups of them (not in Dundee obviously) ..... maybe some of these would be appropriate .... for either the animal or the name (or both) Bison/Buffalo (gang, herd or obstinacy) Butterfly (Rabble) Cockroach (intrusion) Doves (dole or piteousness) see here: http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbytes/got_questions_groups_list.html

Personally, I would see that as the only fair way. In the top mini-league and the bottom one you could argue that the points accrued were all taken in the same number of games, against exactly the same teams, as each team plays the other twice, so you could leave those points be .... but the middle mini league has half its teams gaining points in Tier 1 and the other half in Tier 2 before the split .... there is no fair way to start any of these teams with any points whatsoever. Coming up with some half-baked or complicated algorithm will be unfair to one set of teams in some way so maybe everyone in each league should start back at zero. There's an opportunity here to make things interesting .... teams and fans love silverware, so why not give them that .... take a leaf out of the Mexican book and have two seasons within one like a modified Apertura and Clausura. Tier 1 and 2 winners are the Apertura champions of their leagues and then after the split you go to the Clausura portion which has the 3 leagues .. all starting on 0 and all having exactly the same chance at winning their respective divisions against teams that are in it. Everyone plays the same teams so everyone's points were gained in a normal manner ..... Hell you could even have an Apertura/Clausura playoff to decide overall champion if the winning teams were different with one going into the CL and the other the qualifiers for the CL. Something like this might even benefit youth development .... A team who know they are pretty much a shoe-in to qualify for Tier 1 after the split would be less reticent about giving a few games to youngsters and resting superstars for later in the campaign ....

After the season Toronto FC just had (and the previous 5 for that matter), there can be plenty to grumble about, and like football fans the world over, we do, but one thing that TFC have got correct is how they apply the rules with regards to standing. The stadium is all-seated and holds about 22,000. I am not clear if the MLS rules specify they must be all seated, but I think they probably do as the seating rule is enforced all over the ground with the exception of designated "supporters sections". However, the entire south end of BMO Field is designated as a "supporters section" and next year they are extending it by a further 3 sections. Our tickets, and all paperwork like seating maps etc state this: "Seat Holders in these sections will be permitted to stand persistently throughout matches, as well as use pre-approved flags, banners and drums. For those who would like to sit in these sections, it's important to understand that their view may be obstructed during the match." Over 6 seasons I have been to all but a handful of TFC's home games, and despite my section being totally full for most games (perhaps over-full in some cases), there has never been a safety issue caused by standing that I can remember ....

Probably hoping the video would go viral like Gangnam Style and make her a millionaire !

Assuming that common sense prevails on the details of how it is done, I actually quite like it ! The top 8 would be vying for European slots - an increase on the current 6 teams in the top half of the split. We have finished 7th or 8th a few times so this would be good for us. The middle 8 would be competing to finish in the top half of their mini league and get up to, or remain in, the top tier. for lower league teams, thats a better chance to be promoted than the current 1 up 1 down. For SPL teams, it would also be a lifeline to stay in the top tier as theoretically they should stand a better chance of competing with the other teams in the mini league and would be able to do that over a run of 14 games instead of a one-off or two-legged playoff. The bottom 8 seem to only be playing to avoid relegation, but that too should be important .... depending on the number of slots ..... ? The one thing I would like to see come out of this though is that any new setup does not penalise teams in the second (or third) tier if their stadium is not compliant, nor does it make them have a plan in place in March or April for a league they wont know they are going to get into until the end of May .... encourage teams to have compliant stadiums, but where they dont, then give them some leeway to develop stadiums during their first term in the SPL1 using the increased revenue to help, rather than bouncing them back to the lower league. Promotion and Relegation should be on merit (or lack thereof) not based on how much plastic is surrounding your park (at least initially).

The one thing about this season that seems different to previous ones is that in most games we have an attitude where we just dont seem to give up. When we do give up we get royally rogered! (see Motherwell games), but when we try for the full 90 (+ stoppage time) and have the belief that its never over until its over, we seem to be able to claw things back that would previously have been unclawable. The only team I can remember having done that before, and over a full season, is Celtic in their centenary season in 1988. The number of goals they scored in the final 5 minutes or in injury time was regarded as incredible at the time and was put down to a number of things, not least the personality of Roy Aitken urging on his team-mates from the back. What is the secret of this attitude with ICT this season ? Is it Butcher? Is it Foran? or is it someone else urging the team on to victory (or to salvaging a point or replays etc) ?

guess its worth checking in the morning .... for those still experiencing site issues, please follow the instructions in the support area to clear cache and make sure you are using the 3.4 theme. We updated software this week and it did cause a few issues but cache cleaning and using the correct 'skin' solves most if not all of these issues Cheers SMEE - got your PM.

thought there might be a chance of this being on TV here as they tend to show any football they can, especially when its not on premium channels in the UK !!! Guess I will have to make do with West Ham -V- Chelsea instead :(

We see it over here all the time !!! Given Toronto FC's incredible turnover of players since entering MLS (almost as many players in 6 seasons as ICT have used in 18), and the very nature of MLS which means players get traded within the league all the time, we have witnessed a fairly large number of ex-players coming back to haunt us ! Toronto fans have three ways of dealing with it ... for some players, their stay here was so short or anonymous that they are somewhat irrelevant ... for others they pissed the fans off by being crap or by slagging off the team and/or the city when they left so they get pelters, and for others, they were regarded as important players for the team who may not have chosen to leave so they dont get a hard time. Carl Robinson was a good example. He played a total of 84 games from day 1 until the 3rd season and was then traded to New York. Wasnt his choice, and he was very complimentary about the team and fans after he left, so the fans had no grudges with him. when he turned up for a TFC -V- NY game, he was roundly applauded before the game, then the fans booed NY (including him) all through the game .... near the end Robinson scored for NY and did not celebrate. He shrugged off the plaudits of his team mates and was very respectful .... despite him scoring, that action alone made him even more of a legend with TFC fans, but the point is, the fans showed him respect and he showed it back .... Thats how I believe we should deal with Rossco. Applaud him for all he did in an ICT shirt over 16 seasons, support our team during the match and boo the entire County team, not just Rossco, Munro, Vigurs, Brown, Fraser or any other former ICT players ! Jeff Cunningham on the other hand was roundly booed by TFC fans when he came back to BMO field in Dallas colours. He came to TFC as an American international and with a reputation as a goalscorer and wore number 93 in honour of the number of goals he had scored in MLS up to that point. Over 2 seasons he scored just 6 in 36 games for TFC despite having averaged 1 goal every two games both before he came to TFC and after he left. He also dissed his team mates, the club and the city after he left so as far as TFC fans were concerned he was fair game ..... I did boo him, along with the rest of the TFC supporters because he was being a twat. Not sure I can think of any former ICT players who were quite in the same league of absolute asshole-hood, but I am sure there might be a few suggestions .... As a footnote ... when the 2010 MLS Cup Final was played in Toronto to decide who would be champions of MLS, the two sides involved were Colorado and Dallas. Virtually 90% of the TFC supporters who were there (a ticket for this was included in our season ticket package) supported Colorado. the reason for this? Cunningham was in the Dallas side, and another former TFC player who we actually liked (Marvell Wynne) was in the Colorado side .... Colorado won, and Wynne hailed the TFC fans after the game for their support of him and his team.
