  1. Probably hoping the video would go viral like Gangnam Style and make her a millionaire !
  2. Assuming that common sense prevails on the details of how it is done, I actually quite like it ! The top 8 would be vying for European slots - an increase on the current 6 teams in the top half of the split. We have finished 7th or 8th a few times so this would be good for us. The middle 8 would be competing to finish in the top half of their mini league and get up to, or remain in, the top tier. for lower league teams, thats a better chance to be promoted than the current 1 up 1 down. For SPL teams, it would also be a lifeline to stay in the top tier as theoretically they should stand a better chance of competing with the other teams in the mini league and would be able to do that over a run of 14 games instead of a one-off or two-legged playoff. The bottom 8 seem to only be playing to avoid relegation, but that too should be important .... depending on the number of slots ..... ? The one thing I would like to see come out of this though is that any new setup does not penalise teams in the second (or third) tier if their stadium is not compliant, nor does it make them have a plan in place in March or April for a league they wont know they are going to get into until the end of May .... encourage teams to have compliant stadiums, but where they dont, then give them some leeway to develop stadiums during their first term in the SPL1 using the increased revenue to help, rather than bouncing them back to the lower league. Promotion and Relegation should be on merit (or lack thereof) not based on how much plastic is surrounding your park (at least initially).
  3. The one thing about this season that seems different to previous ones is that in most games we have an attitude where we just dont seem to give up. When we do give up we get royally rogered! (see Motherwell games), but when we try for the full 90 (+ stoppage time) and have the belief that its never over until its over, we seem to be able to claw things back that would previously have been unclawable. The only team I can remember having done that before, and over a full season, is Celtic in their centenary season in 1988. The number of goals they scored in the final 5 minutes or in injury time was regarded as incredible at the time and was put down to a number of things, not least the personality of Roy Aitken urging on his team-mates from the back. What is the secret of this attitude with ICT this season ? Is it Butcher? Is it Foran? or is it someone else urging the team on to victory (or to salvaging a point or replays etc) ?

  11. I would expect it to be available on the BBC website, well to those who have access to a UK IP Address UK IP address is not a problem, but dont think the beeb stream regional telly online
  12. thought there might be a chance of this being on TV here as they tend to show any football they can, especially when its not on premium channels in the UK !!! Guess I will have to make do with West Ham -V- Chelsea instead :(
  13. We see it over here all the time !!! Given Toronto FC's incredible turnover of players since entering MLS (almost as many players in 6 seasons as ICT have used in 18), and the very nature of MLS which means players get traded within the league all the time, we have witnessed a fairly large number of ex-players coming back to haunt us ! Toronto fans have three ways of dealing with it ... for some players, their stay here was so short or anonymous that they are somewhat irrelevant ... for others they pissed the fans off by being crap or by slagging off the team and/or the city when they left so they get pelters, and for others, they were regarded as important players for the team who may not have chosen to leave so they dont get a hard time. Carl Robinson was a good example. He played a total of 84 games from day 1 until the 3rd season and was then traded to New York. Wasnt his choice, and he was very complimentary about the team and fans after he left, so the fans had no grudges with him. when he turned up for a TFC -V- NY game, he was roundly applauded before the game, then the fans booed NY (including him) all through the game .... near the end Robinson scored for NY and did not celebrate. He shrugged off the plaudits of his team mates and was very respectful .... despite him scoring, that action alone made him even more of a legend with TFC fans, but the point is, the fans showed him respect and he showed it back .... Thats how I believe we should deal with Rossco. Applaud him for all he did in an ICT shirt over 16 seasons, support our team during the match and boo the entire County team, not just Rossco, Munro, Vigurs, Brown, Fraser or any other former ICT players ! Jeff Cunningham on the other hand was roundly booed by TFC fans when he came back to BMO field in Dallas colours. He came to TFC as an American international and with a reputation as a goalscorer and wore number 93 in honour of the number of goals he had scored in MLS up to that point. Over 2 seasons he scored just 6 in 36 games for TFC despite having averaged 1 goal every two games both before he came to TFC and after he left. He also dissed his team mates, the club and the city after he left so as far as TFC fans were concerned he was fair game ..... I did boo him, along with the rest of the TFC supporters because he was being a twat. Not sure I can think of any former ICT players who were quite in the same league of absolute asshole-hood, but I am sure there might be a few suggestions .... As a footnote ... when the 2010 MLS Cup Final was played in Toronto to decide who would be champions of MLS, the two sides involved were Colorado and Dallas. Virtually 90% of the TFC supporters who were there (a ticket for this was included in our season ticket package) supported Colorado. the reason for this? Cunningham was in the Dallas side, and another former TFC player who we actually liked (Marvell Wynne) was in the Colorado side .... Colorado won, and Wynne hailed the TFC fans after the game for their support of him and his team.
  14. I received the information below in an email from Charles Bannerman a few minutes ago and was asked to post it here for public consumption as both he and Rosscoe are aware of this forum thread regarding the BBC article, and the content of the article actually came from an interview CB did with Ross. Ross has asked me to post this - which I am in a good position to do since I did the radio interview with him from which the quotes for the BBC online copy were taken, although I was not involved at all in the writing of the copy linked to in the OP. That online item makes it quite clear that it was the fact that he was booed at the Caledonian Stadium on October 5th that upset Ross and nothing he said in the quoted passages nor indeed at any point in my 4 minute interview could possible be construed as critical of or disrespectful to ICT fans. It is the action of booing which upset him, but he he in no way criticised ICT fans, either collectively or individually. Ross has just told me: "I think the majority of Caley fans are great but it was just the booing that disappointed me. I was not being disrespectful to the fans." I can confirm that without qualification. This also is entirely consistent with what he said in this morning's interview and what is reported in the article. Ross did this afternoon take issue with the original headline because he was concerned that some swipe on his part at ICT fans might be inferred which was not intended. That headline was changed around 4:30 - as it happens shortly after the original post was made here. As a result the link to what appears on the BBC website is now inconsistent with the title of the thread. Perhaps the Mods could make the relevant change because the title, although quoting something which was present for quite a short time, is now very misleading. As a result of this email, and the change in the headline of the actual article on the BBC website to something more accurate, I will update the thread title accordingly. As I said in my own post earlier in this thread, it seems like it was nothing more than some online journalist down the road taking things out of context and sensationalising what is basically a throwaway comment ......
  15. Lets calm down here folks ..... If the BBC has changed the headline (and it has), my opinion is that it is because the journalist sensationalised the comment in the headline in the first place to stir up some derby rancour. Tokes branded the booing a disgrace, not the fans, and the article reads exactly like that ... lets not make it more than what it is !!! Personally, I would not have booed him, but if others want to that is up to them ... I can understand his disappointment though as he gave a lot of years to the club and regardless of what he was getting paid, could probably have made a lot more elsewhere had he chosen to do so in the earlier stages of his career so to be booed first time back is a tad disrespectful. Had his header gone in, the booing may have come from a different stand though !!! Jnr - your view of the contract offer is a little idealistic and simplistic in my mind. Yes there was an offer on the table, but the devil is in the detail of what was contained in the offer. I dont know much about those details but from what I have heard (from normally reliable sources) it wasnt exactly "an offer you couldnt refuse" ... more like one it would be impossible to accept !!! I tend to agree with IHE a bit too ... its all opinion and could be a lot of hogwash .... but to my mind, Rossco didnt want to move away from the area so did the next best thing he could which was to sign for another team nearby that matched, or at least came close to what he was looking for in terms of wages. The fact that it was County also probably allowed him to stick a couple of fingers up at certain individuals who he thought were responsible for him not being allowed to finish his career at ICT ..... Lets get on with humping county on saturday and not get distracted and dragged into this bullshit story !
  16. Not at all Alex, it was a straight copy and paste from the BBC. They have changed the title of the article since it first appeared. When I first saw the headline about our fans being a disgrace I actually thought Tokely would be saying how poor it is that our crowds aren't bigger given the fantastic football we are playing. Yup, can confirm I read the original headline too ..... wonder if someone complained ?
  17. How fans voting in the POY poll for the Dundee game rated Thomson ......

  20. suprised to hear that as a former (and iconic) England captain he hasnt already had an MBE/OBE or something like that .... but regardless, the page is the same: https://www.gov.uk/honours/nominate-someone
  21. with Celtic not firing on all cylinders domestically and no Rangers to keep pushing them, then this year, and presumably the next couple are the best chance any team will have to break the stranglehold those two teams have had on the silverware for decades. Can we do it ? YES we can .... (a good slogan for someone that would be ) Will we do it ? I would love to see that happen, but we are less than half way through the season and who knows what might happen in terms of injuries or loss of form ... on current form there is absolutely no reason why not, we just have to take every game as it comes and maintain it ! If these players could do that, then that conversation about legends in another thread would apply to them all !!!!!!
  22. I merged the two topics and will pin this temporarily to the top of the board. can the original posters please update the thread or their posts if and when they manage to sell the tickets. Anyone else with spare tickets, please feel free to add to this thread, but please note, we will delete any posts that are asking more than face value or that dont quite pass the sniff test !
