He was a loan player, and probably not interested in being here any longer than necessary, so very much doubt being told to prove himself would be much of a carrot.

BBC/Sky/ESPN reporting Arnason as scorer so giving it to him in the stats (unless changed) .... but agree with the FFS sentiment !

ICT -V- Aberdeen
lowest matchday thread attendance too .... end of season blues I guess !!!! oh well, its half-time so time to go have a shower, then put the kettle on, and get ready to go out as soon as the ICT game finishes ..... its TFC -V- Chicago at 3:30pm my time today and more cruel punishment awaits. TFC who have played and lost 5 league games so far this season face off against a half decent side ... and will be refereed by the worst ref in MLS ... maybe I should cut out the middle man and just go to he pub !

Inverness CT -V- Aberdeen - Report
Despondent Dons better than dire Inverness. Nobody expected much to happen today given the form of the two teams on display and the poor crowd confirmed that the novelty of SPL football has worn pretty thin. Sadly, this game was further evidence, if it was needed that something is wrong with the game in Scotland. Aberdeen are a shadow of their former selves, a team who once had the audacity to challenge the Old Firm in the heady days of the Ferguson regime. Today they were the better of two poor teams on show, something akin to a Highland League, end of season reserve game in the bottom six of their league. Yes folks, apathy has set in and we are just going through the motions, and for us it seems to be slow motions. Dire stuff indeed! The game was won by Aberdeen in the second half, as once again the unfortunate Roman Golobart, sporting a new haircut resembling a toilet brush, scored for the visitors, and Kenny Gillet confirmed our status as utterly hapless when the ball rebounded off him for Aberdeen's second goal in the last minute to signal a mass exodus from the home fans as they witnessed another dreadfully inept performance. I have been spared the ignomy of reporting on this couldn't care less performance as ajsict92 will tell us how we went from hopeful's to hopeless in 45 minutes of less than rivetting drudgery. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Show must go on......but definitely not this one. Two goals scored at home by ICT...but in a cruel twist they both went into our own net as the home slump suffered yet another personal low against an Aberdeen side that was looking to bounce back from their Scottish cup semi final defeat to Hibs last weekend. With Tansey, Tokely and Graeme Shinnie all suspended, change to the ICT starting eleven was inevitable, and it saw Steve Williams and Gregory Tade recalled and also a first start since August for Aaron Doran with ICT having both their main out and out wingers in Hayes and Doran back together in the side. Aberdeen had Jamie Langfield back in goals for the first time in almost a year. Langfield fully recovered following a brain seizure he had suffered. Despite the overnight downpour and rumours of a pitch inspection the game was played in beautiful sunshine with the pitch having held firm from the rain. It was ICT who seemed to begin the better. One or two neat little passes being exchanged here and there but little to trouble Langfield. You couldn't really disagree with those who described this fixture as "typical end of season" game. Aside from some money and those playing for new contracts there was little to gain from a win today. The first real chance of note fell to Gregory Tade who had a nice swerving shot parried down by Langfield but ICT did continue to press and almost snatched the lead when Jonny Hayes managed to cut inside and a get a low shot away which forced Langfield to make a smart save. Aaron Doran was the next player to test Langfield's gloves with a powerful strike that was rising and needed charging down from Langfield. Three attempts on target, but all too close to the keeper, however at this stage it did look promising. Aberdeen were struggling to get a foothold in the game and it was looking more likely that ICT were going to sneak the lead. Doran came even closer. Picked up the ball about 25 yards out and curled a lovely shot that went just over the bar. ICT did have the ball in the net from a corner, which was flicked on and saw Steve Williams swivel and dispatch a lovely volley into the net only to find the linesman had raised his flag for offside. With half time approaching Aberdeen began to find some openings. Josh Magennis, who was playing in an unfamiliar role at right back found himself on a rampant run towards the six yard box that required a wonderful last ditch tackle from Golobart to stop him in his path. Also just as half time was called Ryan Jack managed to evade Williams and release a low shot that had Tuffey rooted to the spot, but fortunately for him and every ICT supporter in the ground much relieved as it crept round the wrong side of the post. Half time ICT 0-0 Aberdeen Those that had headed off for a half time beverage, pie or loo break would have barely made it back to their seat in time to watch ICT fall behind in familiar circumstances. Magennis launched a long throw into the area and Golobart managed to divert his clearing header beyond Tuffey's reach and into the back of the net. A rather damning statistic for the young spaniard who has now made it a hat trick of own goals this season. It didn't seem to dampen the mood of the ICT faithful in the North stand as the Drums were taken out which was inevitably followed by the fans close by getting into full voice. However the support was beginning to wear thin as ICT's search for an equaliser became more and more difficult. The merrymakers were stopped in their tracks at one point when Gregory Tade was racing through on goal only to be bundled over at the edge of the box by Magennis who recieved a yellow card for his exploits. It was debatable that he could have walked as Tade did appear to have a chance to score but at the same time it appeared that Aberdeen had men covering so the referee probably made the correct call. With the free kick so close to the goal you would have expected Langfield to be tested but Williams curled his free kick high over the bar. Butcher introduced Shane Sutherland and Nick Ross into the action who replaced a less than effective Billy McKay and Gregory Tade, with Sutherland looking more effective than his predecessor in the centre forward role, especially competing in the air with Anderson and Reynolds but ICT were still struggling to break down Aberdeen in the final third with no one in the box for crosses from Hayes or Doran, the odd pass going wrong here, the odd through ball being overhit there. It was an ever familiar tale that was repeating itself and one that is becoming rather sickening the more it is seen. Aberdeen didn't offer much of a threat going forward but they had the luxury of knowing they didn't need to as they continued to soak up pressure. ICT's efforts were becoming more and more frantic. Inverness won another free kick in a dangerous area when Hayes was chopped down by Anderson and this time it was Doran who took it, his effort was decent with it just going narrowly wide. Not long afterwards he swung in a free kick that found Williams at the back post and despite not being closely marked his header floated high over. Shane Sutherland then had what was arguably chance of the game. With time running out he collected the ball, beat his man and unleashed a lovely strike which seemed destined for the top corner but unfortunately and some might say typically his effort was inches wide. As if the match couldn't have got much more painful, as you can guess...it did. In what was a rather mystifying decision, Jonny Hayes was subbed for David Proctor with injury time looming with Steve Williams being shifted up front in as a makeshift striker. Question marks have been raised throughout the season over Proctor's contributions to the team but he did little to silence those critics as within a minute of coming on he was outmuscled and outfought my Magennis who turned him and raced through on goal and despite Jonny Tuffey making a good save from a 1 on 1 the ball simply rebounded of Gillet and trickled into the net to guarantee where the points would finish up at full time. What followed was that automatic sound of emptying chairs as it became too difficult for many to bare and the chorus of merited boos as the full time whistle went. Full time - ICT 0-2 Aberdeen To summarise:- In all honesty I doubt there were many who looked forward to this game or the run in but that's no excuse. With ICT all but mathematically safe and Aberdeen's top six and cup aspirations out the window it's safe to say that both sides have definitely failed what they set out to achieve at the beginning of the campaign. However with both teams containing players that had futures to play for it was clear that very few players were taking that statement seriously. Josh Magennis is one who is in that boat at Pittodrie and for me he was one who seemed to be intent on impressing his boss, he may have been in an unfamiliar role at right back but his performance was good and his effort was first class as he seemed to make the right hand side his own for most of the game and though he wont get the second goal credited to his name he can be happy with his contribution. I didn't see that kind of effort or endeavour from any of our players today. I don't know what that is down to, but it is very worrying that despite losing they seemed to not really give a toss. They can tweet and broadcast what they want to try and convince people they will change but I'm sorry words mean nothing now, put your thoughts into practice boys, not words and buck up your ideas if you really take playing for this club seriously. ajsict92's MotM - I'm finding it very difficult to pick anyone to be perfectly honest but I'm going to give it to Shane Sutherland. He did more in the time he was on than McKay did in the entire season and he managed to create for himself ICT's best chance of the game where he was very unlucky not to score. He has been persistently used as a winger this season in a position that is definitely not his strongest. He is a centre forward and there were glimpses today that if he is played there more he could definitely get better. Thanks ajsict92, that's as positive as it gets for this week folks. Muirfield investment?
Right........ and which one of the five are you then? There we go ... only 4 named ... the 5th still a mystery so that should be enough to keep the conspiracy theorists going .... a couple of the names sound familiar but I cant say I know any of them so will go into it with an open mind, and the benefit of others' opinions who have more knowledge than I ..... Caleyboy - yes I believe it is, but have no idea what the answer is to the other part of your question

Roman Pleased with Player of the Month
We have had first team players interact before, and even had a few who registered on the site over the years .... but not surprisingly, most try to keep a low profile and an elevated degree of anonymity .... a few ex players still on the site too ! With the likes of Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Keek, and all sorts of other social media out there now though I think players interacting with each other, and with the fans is now becoming the norm rather than the exception ... and that is a good thing in my opinion especially at our level, where we already know the players are a down to earth bunch. Being able to view social media gives us an insight into them as people, and the banter they have with their colleagues, which perhaps is a bit more well rounded than just seeing them for 90 minutes at a time. now, do I jar him about copyright of the picture

Livi season ticket pricing
I think its clever PR but a bit of smoke and mirrors ! Livi know how their current season ticket holder list breaks down, and have set the pricing and levels accordingly. Do they have 1600 full priced ticket holders? whats the current percentage of concessions? If it works, then good on them .. they will increase their season ticket holder base and likely keep at least some of them when they jack the prices back up to full level next year ... if it doesnt, then they just have to say they didnt reach the quota .......

SPL NewCo Rules Situation
TV audiences never fill grounds and I never mentioned that aspect once ... you just need to look at Celtic in the barren years to see how low attendances were at Parkhead! Would be interesting to see what "viewing figures" were for games on TV at the same time. However, from knowing quite a few of the culprits over here as I see them at TFC games, I am confident in saying the Rangers/Celtic clubs over here would still be showing the games and therefore paying for them regardless. Hell I know some folk that get up at some ungodly hours and watch some nondescript english, spanish, Mexican, Brazilian or other games just because they are on TV ..... not saying you are wrong ... just saying I think you may have underestimated portions of it !
-
SPL NewCo Rules Situation
We'll have to agree to differ on this one I am afraid .... I agree with most of the rest of what you said (which is why I cut it out), but I think you underestimate the TV thing. They are not only interested in Celtic/Rangers because of the title. They are interested in them because they make an absolute bloody fortune selling the screening rights to these games overseas. I cant speak for anywhere else, but i think we have enough of an ICT ex-pat community in various locales to back me up on this ... I know of at least 10 Celtic and Rangers clubs within the greater Toronto area and these are packed for every OF game as well as other games. The clubs pay a fortune to the TV companies for that coverage on pay-per-view or premium channels, and those channels now seem to align with the UK versions (ie, ESPN and Fox (or TSN2 in Canada)) and pull their feeds including commentary so they dont even have a studio overhead cost. Extrapolate that from Toronto to the rest of Canada, then into the States, to Australia, to the far East and the Middle East .... and the revenue is staggering. As much as we would all be interested in seeing ICT -V- St Mirren it doesnt have quite the same draw for others, even if it were a post-OF top of the table clash.
-
SPL NewCo Rules Situation
Given the fact that we have always seemed to be pretty well run, and we had the disappointment of relegation that forced us to make extremely deep cuts to suit a league without TV or the OF (albeit with the assistance of a parachute payment) then yes, I do believe we would be in better shape than some, in fact, I think that in general, if you go down the list of teams from traditional "biggest" to smallest then it is the bigger clubs who would be affected the worst. I also believe that in the end, the SPL would be a far more competitive and exciting league if there wasnt just 2 teams dominating it ... Kinda like a 1st division that has teams challenging for promotion one season and fighting relegation the next as they are all quite close in performance terms. That might in turn might lead to a better TV deal than we might expect. It would not be as good as the current one, given how much money the TV companies surely make from the OF diaspora compared to the rest of us, but it would be more evenly shared so everyone might actually receive more ...... However, the middle of a recession where money is tight everywhere is not the time to do this .... so for me, I would rather hold my nose and welcome Rangers (newco) into the fold for the simple reason that their presence is of benefit to MY team .... for now.

SPL NewCo Rules Situation
Of course its linked ... the SPL was formed as a breakaway group from the SFL ... and therein lies the problem. 2 organisations, 2 sets of management, 2 sets of rules, 2 sets of sponsorship deals, 2 sets of criteria, and as seen in previous punishments meted out to teams, 2 levels of harshness in terms of what happens. The only real administrative links I see is that both (technically) have the SFA as their governing body, and that both have agreed to promotion/relegation between to two disparate organisations. I would not argue about your comment that a serious enough breach should result in a team being sent to the bottom of the entire structure ..... that would make sense .... and there should also be consistent penalties that apply across the divisions for less serious breaches. However, the simple fact is that there are numerous examples of that not happening and until the entire game, or at least the parts of it that need to have a national set of rules covering all 4 divisions is actually controlled by the SFA or a new SPL-SFL-SFA (Newco) the end result will always be a bag of balls !!!!

SPL NewCo Rules Situation
Kinda torn on this one ....... and its a question of needs / wants Scottish football, or more specifically fans of smaller teams, perhaps don't want Rangers (or Celtic for that matter) but in the current structure we do actually need them in my opinion. We dont need them for the bigotry, we dont need them for the way they monopolise the revenue, and we dont need them for many other reasons ... but in the current structure, we do need them to keep at least some money rolling in. without that money, some teams would be in deep **** and ours could be one of them. I didnt realise it when I posted in another thread what seems like it months ago, but someone more recently pointed out that the TV deal in place can be voided if there are not at least 3 televised OF derbies a season. Like it or not, that TV deal brings in the bulk of the SPL's cash, and despite the OF siphoning off a disproportionate amount of it by toploading the percentages for winners and runners up in the league, it is still worth hundreds of thousands of pounds a year even to the bottom team. What team can honestly say it can withstand the loss of a six figure sum until a new deal is in place without the OF, especially when attendances are dwindling and costs are rising .... I have no doubt that Scottish football could bounce back after the loss of one or both of the OF .... do the "cold turkey" in CaleyD parlance ... and we would likely be leaner, stronger, and perhaps even more youth focused as a result but are we prepared for the consequences of that if ICT were one of the ones who became a casualty of all this ?

SPL NewCo Rules Situation
I agree that this is how it will be portrayed. And as per my posts above, I stick to my opinion that the course of action will be a complete cluster$#$% because we have three governing bodies instead of one. They will start at the bottom. the bottom of the SPL, a single entity league with only a single division. The SFL make their own rules and the only real interplay between them is that its 1 down 1 up for promotion relegation. How the SPL would replace a liquidated team has never been defined, at least not publicly. The only example is the Airdrie situation and that too is a bit of a cluster____ with liquidation (of Airdrieonians), administration and takeover (of Clydebank) all involved and ultimately the old Airdrie becoming the new Airdrie Utd (newco) and playing in the division of the team they bought out .... very messy. and I will be pro-Rangers or anti-Celtic because of the point I am arguing ... but like you, I couldnt care less !! I make my point not for Rangers, but for consistency. On this we are totally agreed.

SPL NewCo Rules Situation
Yes, I know. part of the moving target that is club licensing I am assuming? Bottom line is that this is a "new" situation in the SPL and whatever happens here is setting a precedent. 5 clubs have gone into administration when members of the SPL but none have ever gone into liquidation as an SPL member .... Motherwell, Dundee, Livingston, Gretna and now Rangers all entered administration. In the first three cases there was absolutely no penalty applied. no points deduction, no financial constraints, nothing. Gretna were deducted 10 pts and by virtue of this finished dead last and were relegated. Relegation was not part of the penalty but was pretty much assured when the penalty was applied. Rangers too got a 10 point penalty - for consistency sake I would assume - but there was never a danger of relegation. Of the 5 mentioned, Motherwell stayed in the SPL, restructured and seem to be ticking along. Dundee as we know were relegated to the SFL (on points, not as a punishment) and after going into administration a second time in 2010 got that whopping 25 point penalty that could have seen them relegated, but they managed to avoid it. Livingston and Gretna - also relegated on points - as we know were demoted to the bottom of the SFL structure by that body, not as a result of administration, but in both cases as a result of not being able to confirm they would be able to fulfill fixtures for the coming season. Livi have bounced back (somewhat) and as we know, Gretna became only the second team in recent Scottish league history to go into full blown liquidation, Airdrieonians being the other, and using slight of hand, those who wanted to see Airdrie survive promptly bought out another team in administration,Clydebank, renamed then Airdrie Utd (newco) and moved them back to Airdrie. They started in the league slot that Clydebank previously occupied (2nd division). [good trivia question that ... which new team never actually started life in the bottom league] So onto Rangers .... they went into administration ... the penalty .... 10pt deduction. that is only fair and proper and wasnt really complained about as it has happened before. So whats the two possible outcomes? continued administration and eventually coming out of it ... or ultimately, liquidation. If they stay in administration, they wont be eligible for Europe, and I believe another 10 point penalty will be applied at the start of season 2012/13 if they start the season still in administration .... If they go into liquidation then there is no real precedent for that other than the Airdrieonians/Clydebank/Airdrie Utd situation .... which happened in a different organisation. Rangers (Newco) could simply buy the assets of Rangers (oldco) from the administrators and ask to start in the same league slot occupied by the oldco, just as Airdrie Utd did. Alternatively the SPL could simply make them reapply for membership and put them to the bottom of their league structure .... which would be ... the SPL !!!! I do agree with applying more stringent safeguards, especially as it relates to finances, taxes, NI contributions, paying wages on time, etc as that always seems to be where teams start to slip down the rocky road, but in all honesty, and removing any dislike for any particular team aside, it should not be applied retrospectively. When the rules come in will we fine Hearts for their non-payments this season? no. So why should we fine Rangers if they go into liquidation prior to the rules changing. If the rules are passed and they go into liquidation after that, then no problem, those are the rules, but you cant apply new rules to an old situation regardless of the fact that they may have been "talked about" before that.

SPL NewCo Rules Situation
The whole league setup, with three different governing bodies is farcical. The mere fact that we have SFL/SPL means the SPL can make up their own rules as they go along with regards to newco/oldco or anything else so long as it does not break UEFA/FIFA rules. The SFA, which is ostensibly the most important of the three will continue to rubber stamp whatever is asked of them and if there were any other way into Europe for the SPL other than being a member of the SFA which in turn is a UEFA member then the SFA would have been completely irrelevant long ago. As it stands right now, the setup kind of reminds me of Westminster Government. the SPL is the House of Commons, where the real power lies, the SFL is the House of Lords ... needed but largely ignored, and the SFA is the monarch ... important in a ceremonial fashion, but largely irrelevant in terms of calling the shots. Personally, I dont think the whole thing will be sorted out properly until such time as we either have a single governing body or where we still have a tiered system like now with SFA/SPL/SFL but structure and rules regarding membership, financial or points penalties, and other stuff that should be handled consistently across all four division is dealt with by the SFA as the body at the top of the tree. The SPL/SFL could still stay separate so they could organise their own league rules, TV deals, sponsorships etc ... but the SFA should be the ultimate body in control of ensuring that there are some national standards in place regardless of the name of the division it happens in. Having said that, it should be noted that Rangers have already received the standard penalty issued by the SPL ! A 10 point deduction, the same as given to Gretna and far more severe than the zero punishments meted out to Dundee and Motherwell who also went into administration whilst in the SPL. It is the SFL that have traditionally handed out demotions and far more draconian points penalties, not the SPL. Gretna and Livi were demoted by the SFL, not the SPL. Dundee were docked points by the SFL not the SPL ... so anyone using these teams as a frame of reference is comparing apples to oranges (literally). The mutterings coming from the SPL about increasing the penalties or withholding money from teams in administration or liquidation are a good idea, but personally I dont think they should be applied to Rangers retrospectively. If passed, then it can easily be argued that any new rules were not in place when the offence occured and therefore they cannot have broken them !!! As for how it affects me and ICT .... then it does not. I will still continue to listen to or watch ICT games, and if anything I should probably be hoping Rangers do ok out of this as the selfish part of me knows that if they go, so does any chance of seeing any SPL football on TV and financially the loss of that income would seriously impact every club. Given the precarious state of ICT finances on a yearly basis, it might even be the straw that would push us from being skint to being in serious financial shtook .... and potential administration ourselves !!!

Poor Crawley Town
Like players, certain managers are a good fit for certain teams and not for others .... he ended up not being a good fit for us in a management role (or any other team in Scotland where he took the reins), but if it works out for him down south then good luck to him. Life's too short to be holding grudges ... he definitely laid very strong foundations for our relegation, and there can be many arguments about whether or not it was his fault we eventually went down or whether TB also had a role to play ... but that is for a different thread and it is all water under the bridge now. We came back up at the first attempt, we are in the SPL now, and he has moved on from ICT, the SPL/SFL and Scotland ..... Would not want him back at ICT, but wont wish him badly in his managerial career either.

That club from Dingwall
I noticed that one, but wanted to stay out of this argument. My only contribution to this thread is to say that County will be worthy winners of Division 1 and will rightfully take their place in the SPL. For that I congratulate them in the same way as I have always said I would congratulate any team that proves to be the best in their division over the course of a season. In some ways I hope they go down quicker than Titanic 3D, but in other ways, I kinda hope they sit 11th for a season or two if nothing more than to wind up Chicky and the boys and give Robbo some wind up material for their trips north

Do you still believe?
Yup Maryhill ... gotta agree on most of that and after beginning to follow Toronto FC in addition to Caley Thistle, I do double duty in terms of the rollercoaster of emotions that a football club can bring out in you ..... lots of similarities between the teams but thats for another post.
