Football Fans in Training Inverness Caledonian Thistle Registration is still open for Inverness Caledonian Thistle fans looking to get fit and improve their lifestyle with the SPL Trust’s Football Fans in Training (FFIT) programme, a partnership between the SPL Trust, The Football Pools and Scottish Government which tackles a number of men’s health issues. Two blocks of 12 week courses will run at Inverness Caledonian Thistle and all other SPL clubs, with the aim of increasing physical activity, improving diet and promoting a healthy lifestyle amongst supporters. Football Fans in Training is open to men aged between 35 and 65 who meet any of the following criteria: Body Mass Index (BMI) of 27 and over, belly 100cm and over or a trouser waist size of 38 inches and over. 412 men took part in the first block of Football Fans in Training sessions in autumn 2010 and participants lost a total of 2,300 kg in weight, the equivalent of almost 19,658 pies! [caption id="attachment_4230" align="alignright" width="300" caption="ICT - Current Champs of FFIT"][/caption]The programme recently won a European Professional Football League (EPFL) Best Practice Award in the Social Responsibility category. The EPFL Best Practice awards celebrate and raise awareness of the very best League initiatives in areas such as Social Responsibility, Youth Development and Communications. Supporters can find out more by calling 0800 389 2129, texting FFIT to 88802 or emailing [email protected] Inverness Caledonian Thistle Manager Terry Butcher urges fans to sign up: “It is vitally important for a club our size to be involved in the community and to be able to help people who are supporters of the club back into a healthier lifestyle is very rewarding for all involved. My message to all who come on these courses is simply BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE and I think many of the fans involved have used it as real motivation to succeed. The course promotes a gradual change in the men’s lifestyle, encouraging them to be more active and to eat more healthily. The men form a strong camaraderie which enables the group to succeed as well as giving individuals the chance to shine. This is a fantastic opportunity to give something back to our supporters and also improve their lives.” Billy Singh, General Manager of the SPL Trust, said: “Football Fans in Training is the first nationwide health initiative co-ordinated by the SPL Trust. It demonstrates that football clubs are no longer just about 90 minutes on Saturday but recognise their responsibility to involve supporters and the local community throughout the week. With Football Fans in Training, supporters have the opportunity to get closer to their local club, work with professional coaches and make positive changes to their lifestyle.”

Actually dont think the OF have any starring role in this decision other than one of them being the team we were playing. The buck for this has to stop with the referee and then this so-called independent review panel. If either are in awe or fear of these dark forces then that is their problem not the problem of the OF. They might have created the problem/scenario, but the ref and the panel are the ones helping to perpetuate it. Grow a spine and a set of balls FFS ! 1. the referee made a decision and I accept that its done in a fraction of a second and based on what he saw he can make an error. I have no problem with that if he has the balls to admit his mistake at the end of the game when he can actually change his decision in his report or make mention of it. It is apparent that he did not do either of those things so he gets the "Walloper of the Weekend" prize for that display of arrogance and ineptitude..... a bit of poetic license but an anagram of his name is "OUR INSANE R." 2. The appeals panel have the advantage of being able to view the tackle frame-by-frame and from a variety of different angles given that it was live on TV. but true to (past) form and regardless of the evidence in front of their eyes they seem to want to give benefit of the doubt to the referee report. F****** Spineless. Back in the day when I was involved in the local amateur scene and was a committee member of the IDAFA (and by extension, the disciplinary committee) I always remember George Davidson saying that no matter what we were told by players or witnesses or anyone else brought to plead a case, and no matter what we believed based on that story, if we made a decision that went against the referees report we would have it thrown back to us from the SAFA or SFA because the 'punishment' did not fit the 'crime'. Hell, we even caught a referee out in a lie based on a review of a specific incident and independent witness comments, removed the punishment from the player entirely, and got our arses handed to us on a plate from down south. It would seem that as much as things change - with the introduction of a streamlined system - certain elements of it stay exactly the same. absolute bollocks !

If proof were ever needed that the lunatics are still in charge of the asylum it comes this morning in the form of the decision over Ross Tokely's red card appeal. Ross - as most ICT fans will be aware - was red carded at the weekend after an excellent saving tackle against Rangers. Whistler Euan Norris - who has now awarded 5 penalties in favour of Rangers in the last three games he has refereed for them - deemed it "Denying the opposing team or an opponent a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity as defined by Law 12". Ross was instantly red carded and Rangers - who until then had been pressuring Caley Thistle with little or no return - were awarded a penalty which Jelavic scored. This changed the whole game and Rangers went on to win 2-0 with the aid of a rebound from the second penalty Norris' awarded to Rangers less than 10 minutes later. Whilst the tackle may have looked hard and perhaps unfair in the moment, and you could perhaps give Norris some leeway as referees do have to make split second decisions without the benefit of TV replays from a multitude of angles, those same replays - available instantly via Sky Sports live coverage of the game - clearly showed it was a tremendous tackle where ball was contacted first and the player went down. This decision, by a panel of so-called experts, who have access to all the same footage that we have all seen and debated, is an absolute farce, and while the club will be unlikely to say anything too strong or over the top because of fear of sanctions, fines or other reprisals we can and will say that this was truly MUPPETRY of the highest order. For further comments and opinions of ICT fans - see the forum thread which will probably be quite lively after this decision !!!

its bullshit, plain and simple, and i resisted the temptation to go further in the article we now added to the main site

just for clarification - there was a typo in the press release issued earlier today and shown (and now updated) on the official site. The appeal is actually tomorrow, not today .... thats why we havent heard the outcome !

I mean no disrespect with this post SMEE, and I am not trying to minimise or compare your diagnosed condition to any other person entitled (or not entitled) to DLA concessions at the TCS as I am not qualified to do so .... However, on a pure discussion basis, it comes across that you feel you are entitled to a discount or a freebie, yet when legitimate suggestions are made on ways where you can put in even a small effort to get your point across and argue your case for that concession, either with the club, the Trust, or with CLAN, its a case of ...."f*** it, cant be bothered, I'll listen to the radio". You want the concession, but equally you seem to want someone else to try and get it for you ...... Sorry, but no-one is going to hand it to you on a plate, especially a business who are prepared to make concessions where it is required, or where a good case is made by representative groups or as the result of discussions with those groups. Equally, those representative groups are not going to represent you unless you actually speak up and make your point ... You obviously feel strongly, and if your opinion holds water with those who know far more about it than most of us on here, or who have direct access to the club in shaping this policy, surely it is worth it to get involved, even if only briefly ?
  8. just received a payment from a user whose email corresponds to member name "kirki". As there is no indication in the thread, and it was received as "site sponsor" rather than player sponsor, please confirm that this is correct user and correct reason ???
  9. Thanks 'OddQuine' - Have put you down for 2 - 1 paid (which we confirm receipt of), and one which we will try to remember to remind you about. That takes us to 50 and although it is short of our 68 target, we will still manage to sort something out to get all 3 items sponsored I am sure. Marks, Caley100 & CaleyStan - assuming you still want to take part on the pledges you made ? If so, can you let me know how payment will be organised ? You can obviously do PayPal, but equally you can pay CaleyD, LG (at club shop), TM4TJ etc ......

It was one of the revamps ..... it goes in front of a panel now (see link to failed st Mirren appeal) http://icrenfrewshire.icnetwork.co.uk/tm_headline=hasselbaink-loses-red-card-appeal%26method=full%26objectid=29221445%26siteid=87085-name_page.html
  11. Based on a (very) old set of accounts (2006) [as I dont have recent ones to hand] we had 1,891,681 'ordinary' shares issued at that time. We also had 600,000 'A' Ordinary shares, 300,000 'B' Ordinary shares and 3 'C' Ordinary shares. Each share had a nominal value of £1 so technically our share issue was worth a little under £2.8m I am not sure of the details, and someone will likely come along and explain it but I believe that the 1.9M Ordinary shares are the "voting" shares which shareholders big and small hold which give you the right to come along to AGMs and vote. A,B, & C shares are of the same value and although they allow you to attend AGMs etc they hold no voting rights. Think the "C" shares were Caledonian, Thistle, and INE (but could be wrong). However ... at the end of the day, the shares are worth only what someone is willing to pay for them ..... and a little over £1m would indeed buy more than 50% of the club .... would not be selling mine though .... its only 250 shares but its my own little bit of ICT that I will own forever and which I never expected any return on anyway. Cant really comment on the speculation about the offer until we know more details and who and what is involved. If its someone (or a group) with the long term good of ICT in their hearts then its definitely to be considered ... but if its a "benefactor" with no prior connection then I would be very wary.
  12. As far as I am aware, the ruling is that "FIFA does not permit video evidence during matches, although it is permitted for subsequent disciplinary sanctions". The Scottish FA asked for this a few seasons ago to deal with diving and were denied. However, after the furore over Thierry Henry's "goal" vs Ireland in the WC Qualifiers and a few other incidents both pre and post World Cup, Blatter twisted in the wind once more and said it couldnt be used during the match but that individual associations could use it after the fact to deal with diving or other infractions. Seems there is mass confusion though with associations themselves not knowing whether they are allowed to review actual decisions and increase/decrease the severity of the referee's decision or whether they are - as has been said - powerless to deal with situations if the referee did not pick up on it ..... Simulation: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/scot_prem/8968115.stm FA can upgrade/downgrade cards: http://www.footballwriters.co.uk/news/article/FA-must-use-new-FIFA-powers.html Powerless: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/515343-foul-play-a-call-for-video-evidence-and-retrospective-bans or maybe not powerless: http://www.mail.com/int/sports/soccer/247630-blatter-english-fa-punished-rooney.html in other words ... and in typical FIFA fashion ... as clear as mud ! They also - after initially putting the research on hold - have allowed companies to come to them with feasability studies into the use of goal-line technology with a basis of allowing this at the 2014 World Cup. The goal line technology should be 90% accurate and send instant notification to the referee's watch Goal Line Tech: http://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/sport/Fifa_to_test_nine_goal-line_technology_systems.html?cid=30734882
  13. Dont want to turn this into a witchunt against the referee from Saturday, but someone needs to take a look at his 'record'. Euan Norris Penalties 2010-11 Kilmarnock 1-2 ICT - 1 (ICT) Kilmarnock 2-3 Rangers - 2 (Rangers) Motherwell 2-0 Celtic - 1 (Motherwell) Celtic 3-1 Hibs - 2 (1 each) Rangers 2-1 St Mirren - 1 (Rangers) 2011-12 ICT 0-2 Rangers - 2 (Rangers) In 1 and a bit seasons he has refereed a total of 18 SPL games. In those 18 games he has awarded a penalty in 3 games, and 2 penalties in 3 more games for a total of 9 pens in 6 games. 5 of the 6 games with penalty awards have involved one half of the OF, and 3 of those 5 games involved Rangers being awarded a total of 5 penalties and Celtic being awarded 2 against them. ICT were the only team involved in a non-OF game to be awarded a pen by this referee (V Killie). I make no accusations against this referee, but I have certainly formed my own opinion based on those publicly available statistics.

RE: the Captcha on site. It is industry standard and very few sites will not use some form of captcha to filter out spam attacks on vulnerable pages. If the captcha was removed you can guarantee several hundred (if not thousands) of bogus emails per day .... There is an option to listen to the captcha - right next to where the entry should go, or to refresh it if the words are unreadable. Alternatively, create an account on the site and login and then you will not be subjected to the captcha engine.
  15. Just to add to this ...... Setanta Sports started another free preview in Canada this weekend and the first live game on TV was - you guessed it - ICT -V- Rangers !!!! As there was also a TFC game later that day, I had the rare opportunity to talk ICT with a number of TFC fans who had actually seen the game. With 1 exception (a pseudo rangers fan), everyone was talking about how much of an injustice it was, how bogus the awarded penalties were, and how crap the referee was .... and coming from TFC fans who endure MLS referees every week let me tell you that being deemed crap when compared to MLS referees is quite an achievement ! For most of them it was their first glimpse of ICT and many were pretty complimentary about the team, the stadium, and the effort. They were a little unhappy that former TFC player Maurice Edu got sent off, but that was directed at the ref not ICT ! All in all, ICT got pass marks from a knowledgeable community of football fans and they thought "we wuz robbed".
  16. 5 penalties for Rangers in the last 3 games Euan Norris has reffed for them. Nuff said.
  17. not sure if its because I am watching the match instead of listening to it as I normally do, and the ICT commentary on BBC radio is equivalent to audio-mogadon, but this game has me raging and shouting at the screen. Cheating f****** scumbag w****** !!! hope my rankers supporting friends are nowhere near this evening's TFC match or have enough sense not to mention it !!!!
  18. Aldred already came on for Tade a minute after the penalty.
  19. Famous last f****** words !!! Why ? For making a PERFECT tackle. That call was f****** bullshit !!!
  20. We certainly cant complain about reffing today (so far). I make it at least 4 handball shouts that might have been given against us with another ref or in another game, as well as the offside "goal" which was only clear on TV after a few replays .... We are being over-run by Rangers and I think some of the newer lads are maybe giving them too much respect because its Rangers. They too are struggling with injuries and on that first half showing, they are there for the taking if we can believe in ourselves !!!!
  21. actually it was offside ... not the crss, it was perfect, but Edu took a touch and then it played to Jelavic. who was rendered offside by Edu's touch

  24. Lucky You !!! 6:40AM here, coffee now on, and its too dark to see if its sunny or raining athough will probably know before the 7:45AM kickoff ! Still, It could be worse ... in ScarletLand this game kicks off at 4:45AM
  25. yup - heard about that one over here a few days ago (your slow this week IHE) ... apparently they got him on a free as well ! but according to those in the know he suffers from poor distribution and has no aerial prowess. However when he gets going he really can light a fire under any match ! Apparently they thought the riots had spread to Glasgow too ..... a friend sent this on BBM ... "oh no, the rioting has spread to Glasgow....on London road and the Gallowgate there are reports of drunken neds and junkie thugs screaming anti-British abuse, there is widespread shoplifting, the only thing untouched is the deodorant and soap" Followed a few minutes later by: "oh wait, false alarm! It's just a game at Parkhead!"
