Player Sponsorship 2011-12
Looks like we will be calling it a day at 47 members then - assuming the 3 who are currently not paid do so asap. It's a little disappointing not to have secured any interest whatsoever from non-members who took part in previous years via the Innes Bar but so be it. It is what it is as they say. As it stands we would therefore sponsor the main item (Shane's home kit), and assuming outstanding payments are received, also the second item (Gavin's training kit) but it would seem we are not fit to lace Rossco's boots far less sponsor them ........ as we didnt get to that level of membership. If anyone wants to add their name, then please do so quickly, and if anyone wants to gee up people from last year who go to the Innes but may not come on here then that too would be appreciated. Remember, you dont have to pay via paypal, its just easier that way. If you have an online fear of financial transactions you can give cash to TM4TJ, Caley100, CaleyD or to Laura in the Club Shop who will also accept it on our behalf. If we get nothing further by end of next week then we will confirm the two items with the club and stop there.

Financial state of club?
And that is the answer to the actual question in the first post !!!!!! No weird theories or conspiracies required !

going to move this discussion to "other football" .... it is not a rumour, or at least not a bonafide one, and all we are doing is helping to create one where none previously existed.

The Long Ball
I have always said that ICT play better when they play a passing game and use the width of our pitch (and others) and I stand by that, but there are times when you have to vary your approach and the odd bit of long ball stuff doesnt hurt if it gets the job done. 3 points is the important bit. On the reverse side of the equation - I have spent all season watching Toronto FC and coach Aron Winter sticks rigidly to the 4-3-3 system that is all about passing and moving and has deadly opposition to anything that bypasses midfield. It works at times (getting better now that Torsten Frings is pulling the strings), and when it does, its great to watch, but when you dont always have players on the park who are comfortable with the system, then its a folly .... hence TFC's record of P25 - W3 D11 L11 !!! and the irony of it all is that the best goal of the season - which I linked to in a thread earlier in the season - was a route one clearance from the TFC keeper to the attacker who hit it first time over the other keeper. an absolute belter and worth the price of admission on its own.

terry butcher for gers boss if mcCoist fails
If, and its a big if, Mccoist was punted this early in his managerial career then its only logical to assume that TB would be right up there in terms of speculation ... along with the likes of McCall and/or others. If the position was available, I can see him being interested - after all he is an Ibrox legend - just as he would probably be interested if Ipswich came calling, but the big question is whether he would be prepared for the mayhem a move back to the Glasgow Goldfish Bowl would involve. All the crap that Lennon endured last season might just put him off. He recently commented in an article about how happy he was up here, how picturesque his commute to work was and such like. He is probably the manager with the safest job in the SPL right now and that also counts for something. He pretty much has free reign to do as he pleases at the TCS and his opinion carries a lot more weight than it might do in the corridors at Ibrox where he would just be another cog in the wheel ... an important one, but just a cog nonetheless. If I were a betting man, I would suggest that Ally would try to enlist the help of Walter as a "consultant" (in the background) long before he would lose his job.

Trialists
Wonder if Rohan Ricketts would be worthy of a trial at ICT ??? http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2011/aug/04/rohan-ricketts-twitter-football Former TFC player, did OK for Toronto and developed a bit of a cult following due to his internet savvy presence on Twitter (even if his posts were sometimes a bit too brutally honest!). Played for Arsenal, Spurs, Coventry, Wolves, QPR, Barnsley amongst others and Aberdeen reputedly wanted to sign him year before last but didnt have the budget. Scored a few decent goals for TFC and is currently without a club. Was on about ?2000 per week at TFC so given a couple of years on and lower level clubs maybe within our price range ???

Blame Terry (and Mo)
LOL - its the same for Toronto FC .... not so much on a calendar, but each season ticket book has a pre-printed ticket for each game with the date/time etc as well as a picture of a player or two and for the last 5 years the trick has been to see if anyone pictured actually lasts the course ..... This year TFC have had a total of 41 players in the squad and 8 of them are no longer at the club including two guys who have been captain this year !!! 120 players in 5 seasons !!! By comaprison, ICT is at about 170 players in 18 seasons !!!

Official Travel Club - Dunfermline
see link in first post to Supporters Trust website. The travel club is detailed there. It should also be noted - in the interests of fairness - that the Supporters Club also run a bus to games - details on our Supporters Club link in the main menu at the top of the page. As a customer of neither bus, I think I can say with impunity that the main differences between the two options are as follows .... Membership - optional for Trust bus but you will pay more as a fare. Membership IS required for supporters club bus but you can buy it on the day (lasts a year) and its pretty cheap. Timing - Trust bus aims to arrive early at away venue (or pub nearby) and comes straight back up the road whereas the Supporters club bus has a more leisurely pace and tries to arrive a little before kick-off and makes a stop (or two?) on the road back up.

Value for Money - Part Two
Both offer value to those who choose to use them. Each one has a different itinerary on the day so appeals to different folks which is why we plug them both. nice to get TWO buses to each game .... more fans.

ICTFC.com
you are not trying to login using your username/password from here are you ? Did you create an account on that site spearately ? your login from here will NOT work (unless you setup an account using the same info) EDIT: I should also point out that accounts from ICTFC.CO.UK will also not work as its a completely separate site from that one too. The "old" site is on the PTV (network) platform, whereas the new site is on its own hosting.

ICT capture Welsh International
Welsh cap is Terry Butcher's new midfield capture from Norwich City -- and Austrian is cleared to play Caley Thistle have agreed a one year contract with Welsh international midfielder Owain Tudur Jones with Norwich City manager Paul Lambert agreeing to cancel his registration. The international transfer clearance paperwork on the transfer will hopefully be concluded in time for Jones to be included in the squad against Hibernian in our SPL first home game of the season on Saturday. Norwich paid Swansea £250,000 for Jones in June 2009 and the six feet two inch tall player has made six appearances for Wales, having previously played for his country at under-21 and under-19 level. Terry Butcher is delighted to land the 27 year old, who brings physical presence to the midfield area. Bangor City signed Jones from Porthmadog ten years ago and he went on to fire 24 goals in 96 appearances for Bangor, with whom he tasted Intertoto Cup action against a Rumanian side. Swansea signed him in the summer of 2005 and he racked up 21 league appearances and scored three goals in his first season. Having spent the second half of the 08-09 season at Swindon Town, Jones' form attracted Norwich who forked out the £250,000 fee. Owain scored against Brentford in August but that was to be his only goal in five appearances for the Canaries. In January, 2010, he spent three months on loan at Yeovil Town and in January of this year he was at Brentford for a month's loan. Jones made his full international debut for Wales against Luxembourg in March, 2008, in a 2-0 win and he becomes the first Welsh cap to play for Caley Thistle. Manager Butcher is also relieved that the drawn-out saga over the registration of Thomas Piermayr is over with international clearance being received so the former Austrian under-21 player, who can play right or left back and also in midfield, will be eligible to make his debut against Hibs. Piermayr, who played for Linz last season, has impressed the manager in training and is looking forward to facing Hibs and trying to extend the Caley Jags' hoodoo over the Easter Road men at Inverness. In nine SPL games at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium, Caley Jags have dumped the Hibees seven times, with two drawn. Ironically, this is Caley Thistle's first home game since Hibs' last visit on May 11, when Richie Foran scored just before the interval and Nick Ross added another in our 2-0 victory. That Inverness lineup was Tuffey; Tokely Munro Hogg Gillet; Duff Ross Cox Foran; Sutherland Rooney. Subs were Esson, Doran, Polworth, Morrison, Odhiambo, Sanchez and Alex Macdonald. Quite a transformation between home games!

Innes Bar - Cheers Colin
Colin was always a great character in the Innes and he as well as Scooby frequently went that extra mile for many of us (quite literally in Scooby's case). He is a true gent whose presence as the landlord, and extreme generosity and humility as a person will be sorely missed as the patriarch of the bar. I wish him well in his retirement and hope it gives him loads of time to indulge in his passion for classic cars rather than the health issues that have cropped up in recent years. I will continue to treasure the personalised bottle of whisky (unopened) that he presented myself and Christe with on one of my trips home, and the Innes Bar Supporters Club embroidered banner he gave me on another trip which hangs proudly on my wall at home. I dont know the new man in charge, but I wish him well too ... He has a hard act to follow and high standards to meet, but if he can be half the man that Colin is, he will be doing well. As alluded to in the article, there are a few reasons why the "Caley Inn Crew" moved from one side of the town to the other and Big Stew's new house was only part of it ... Another part of it was the personality of "mine host" and when Don and Bridgit left the Caley Inn we were lucky to find another good host in Colin.

Jonny Eyes Faroes tie
ICT Press Release Keeper Jonny Tuffey becomes first Caley Jags player this term to get international call-up Caley Thistle Goalkeeper Jonny Tuffey has been chosen for the Northern Ireland squad to face the Faroe Islands in Belfast in a European Championship qualifying round tie on August 10. Jonny, now 24, is one of three keepers named by manager Nigel Worthington and is chasing his seventh appearance for his country -- though he also made 13 appearances for the Under 21s and 11 for the Under 19s and was also capped at Under 17 level. Tuffey, signed a year ago from Partick Thistle, made his first full appearance for Northern Ireland in a 2-0 defeat from Hungary in November 2008. His first starting role was in June 2009 against Italy when his side lost 3-0 but Jonny saved a penalty kick. In February this year he was kept busy as Scotland beat Northern Ireland 3-0 in Dublin in the Celtic Cup series.

Bad News for Lee
ICT - Press Release Classy midfielder Lee Cox awaits specialist's verdict on length of his layoff Caley Thistle midfielder Lee Cox is to see a specialist on August 1 about a groin problem which is refusing to clear up. The former Leicester City player has had his training restricted and manager Terry Butcher revealed:"Lee's not been making progress so we've arranged his visit to a specialist. "Sadly, it looks like he'll not just miss Saturday's home game with Hibs, but be sidelined for a few weeks yet. It's a real pity for us and the lad." Cox, who recently turned 21, has made 76 appearances in his two seasons with Caley Jags, scoring four goals. His classy prompting has been a big asset and fans will wish Lee a speedy recovery as he faces a delayed start to his campaign. New signing Gregory Tade, however, shook off his injury problem in time to play at Motherwell and is poised to make his home debut against Hibs. "I thought Gregory did very well, which is encouraging", said Butcher, who hopes that a full week's training will further improve the ex Raith Rovers hitman's fitness in time for the visit of the Easter Road club. Tade hit 13 goals in his 68 appearances for Raith and before that he rattled in 19 goals in 50 outings for Stranraer so Caley Jags home fans will be looking forward to seeing the big Frenchman in action.

Player Sponsorship 2011-12
ok folks, with the latest additions to our sponsor group (thanks Old Caley Girl) we are at 44 paid and 3 pledged but still to pay ..... 42 is the magic number for Shane's home kit so that is covered in full. 54 is the magic number for the next item (Gavin's training kit) so we are 10 short (7 assuming the 3 unpaid pledges pay - which I am sure they will). This item is also covered as we (CTO) will make up any shortfall as previously noted. 66 is the magic number to also sponsor Rossco's boots ... we need to make objective 2 and get a few pledges into this to make it all 3 items again. Can anyone wanting to join the sponsor group please let us know ... and can those who may be in the Innes this weekend see if the regular suspects are also in for it this year ?????

SFA Performance Awards Scheme
the wording of the whole release is terrible ... As already seen by comments on here to the sentence "SPL clubs who select two Scottish under-21 players in their starting line-up....." ... it makes you wonder whether they mean players capped at U21 level rather than the other interpretation of "two Scottish players, under the age of 21 on <qualifying date>" still cant get my head round the 10-1 ratio in payments though .... if we could get more U21s playing regularly in the lower leagues our teams could potentially bring on these players whilst guaranteeing themselves some much needed cash. Maybe it should be a lower amount in the SPL and then staggered further down each league rather than a straight drop from 750 to 75.

Thomas Piermayr
Doesnt seem to be any real definitions as to the reasons required .... but one of them I came across on Google may actually hit close to home ..... "Article 13 of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfers of Players (RSTP) provides that a contract between a professional and a club may only be terminated upon expiry of the term of the contract or by mutual agreement." or in other words, one of the primary functions of the ITC is to make sure that the player signing for one club in one country is not still contracted to a club in another country ... http://arbitration.practicallaw.com/0-501-6227 I am sure there are other reasons - disciplinary points, suspensions, etc and probably an element of the 'fraud' Alex mentions in making sure the player is actually who they say they are Incidentally - this also applies in the Amateur leagues too !!! I had to fill in some form or other a few years ago when one of our players in the IDAFA moved to England to work and wanted to sign for an amateur team down there ... in this case, it also makes sure the player is truly an amateur and not classed as semi-professional or a professional seeking to be re-instated as an amateur (eg. after retiring from professional game).
