  1. swear filter was emptied when we switched sites - not ignoring you TM4TJ - just busy :004:
  2. Alex - ultimately they have to shoulder some of it. they are not blameless, and regardless of when we were made aware of the sponsorship deal, the discussions would have been ongoing for a while giving plenty of time to co-ordinate with Errea. Is it so difficult to ask "If we need strips here by August 4th, what is our cut off date ?". If we actually ordered in time, then someone needs to be on the phone every morning saying "where are they", "where are they", "where are they" until they arrive. If we ordered late, then it IS the club's fault and someone needs to be sweet talking them to get it done.
  3. This actually makes sense to me ! Shirt manufacturers DO require a fairly long lead time as they do a production run for one team then for someone else and someone else and someone else etc etc etc ..... as ICT are 'small fry' in terms of gross sales compared to others they probably have on their books we dont have much in the way of leverage. I would however have expected them to pull out all the stops to have the team shirts ready ..... This comment is RIDICULOUS. While fans may be re-assured by the fact that the players wont have their shirts in time either, the club should be APPALLED, ANNOYED, ANGRY and have steam coming out of their ears about this and the letter should reflect this. Will the sponsor be quite so reassured ? Most of thier flights might be late but I am sure they wont take kindly to the shirts not being here for a game that will be televised WORLDWIDE I believe this is the last year of the Errea deal. I sincerely hope that the club do not renew it as the supplier has never delivered on time, the quality of the merchandise is sometimes questionable, and different batches have different sizes regardless of what the label says. shoddy. shoddy. shoddy.
  4. nahh, best line was "The Cup tie was eventually won by Inverness." .....
  5. This is an information rather than a discussion topic so it is locked & stickied. Will just keep amending it as required.
  6. see work permit thread - it is a member but employmnt visas still needed.
  7. no its not that simple - read the links on the other thread
  8. Don't forget the yellow one! do you read posts before replying ?
  9. :015: :015: - Statto - on Baddiel and Skinner .... mmmmmmmm. nahh, the secret is to have good sources - Google and 13 years worth of match reports and Ian Broadfoot's stats tend to be enough for this site :003: the worrying thing for me is the 75% requirement for international games - he does not satisfy this criteria.
  10. what is this obsession with kit colours ?? its not even a strip, its our training kit .... 4 sets, red, blue, white and yellow. we havent played in any official ICT strip yet !

    no need .........
  12. UK Home Office places restrictions on 'workers' from Bulgaria and Romania - they are allowed to do this for up to 7 years after the country joins the EU. HERE According to the basic info pages, permits take "one to two weeks" but there is a separate page for footballers where no timescale is stated. HERE

After your comments yesterday, it is apparent that you have a big problem with this site .... or perhaps it is myself or CaleyD ? no matter .... although I find it strange, considering how often you visit and lurk ....... If you dont like it why do you visit so often. At the end of the day, [although I happen to agree that this thread should be in AG] It is me (or one of the mods) who will decide if a thread stays in a particular forum or is moved elsewhere. If you want to make that decision instead, start your own forum !!! You might find out how much work is involved and be less of a moaning bar steward. In fact - as it pisses you off so much, I will leave it right here. might even stickie it ..... and why would we merge it with that thread - not related.
  15. oh well ..... time to leave the office and go and watch Toronto FC V Aston Villa :003:

Thanks Sophia - appreciate it. HC ... :blah01: C1C3 ... :021: TM4TJ ... it probably is a little slower as we have enabled SEF urls so the database has to do more work before displaying the page. SEF urls for those that dont know are the nice readable urls you now see on the main pages and forum pages in place of the ones that were there before. we will monitor the performance and if it becomes an issue, review it.
  18. Received pictures from Trevor of the Elgin, Clach and Keith games - once we have switched over to the upgraded site they will be available in the gallery.
  19. or how about these beauties from the USL second division ...... Albuquerque Geckos Chattanooga Express Cincinnati Cheetahs Columbus Xoggz ??? Everett BigFoot Lexington Bluegrass Bandits Southwest Florida Manatees New York Capital District Alleycats Myrtle Beach Seadawgs
  20. nahh ... Rochester Raging Rhinos has to be the best ......
  21. 100% correct - according to Wikipedia, they had that name in 1996 but were forced to change http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_City_Wizards What seems quite amazing is the number of times teams change owners and in some cases where one owner has multiple teams ..... Lamar Hunt used to own Kansas, Dallas and Columbus before selling Kansas to a consortium in 2006 and then popping his clogs. The Anschutz Entertainment Group owns the Galaxy, Chicago Fire and Houston Dynamo as well as many other sporting teams elsewhere (including a 49% share of Sweden's Hammarby) and used to also own New York before selling them to Red Bull.
  22. No teams in Florida now ... not since the Tampa Bay Mutiny and Miami Fusion were kicked out :015: but if we are going for non existent teams then how about Baltimore Boost Rhode Island Ripples Miami Macaroons Portland Puff Candies Seattle Spangles Washington Wine Gums Tulsa Tooty Frooties Oklahoma Opal Fruits (moved to California and became Sacramento Starbursts) Las Vegas Lovehearts Pittsburgh Polo Mints Wyoming Walnut Whips Albuquerque Aeros Minnesota Munchies Toronto Tunnocks Teacakes
  23. simple .... he signed a contract subject to the successful granting of a work permit. If the work permit is not granted, the deal will likely be null and void. nothing to stop him signing the contract .... he just cant turn out for the team (or be paid ?) until it is granted.
  24. OK - I'll bite (especially with these names :015:) for the existing teams ...... Toronto Twix or Twirl Chicago Caramel Chivas Chocolate Oranges Columbus Curly Wurly's Colorado Creme Eggs Dallas Dolly Mixtures or Double Deckers D.C. (United) Dairy Milks Houston Hula Hoops Kansas City Crunchies LA Fruit and Nuts (has to be doesnt it) New England Nik Naks (was struggling with this one !) New Yorkies Real Salt Lake Revels or Rolos or just Salt Lake Snickers or Smarties
  25. :rotflmao: The names are a bit strange in some cases, but got me looking up the history ...... I learned a few things ! Toronto FC was named as such because the owners wanted a real football name. enough said. :021: :021: :021: Chicago Fire were named as such because they were formed on the 126th anniversary of the Great Fire of Chicago in 1871 so you could probably let them off too. :022: Columbus Crew were named by fans in a contest !!! (supposedly 'crew' refers to the working class background of the area and has nothing to do with Christopher's shipmates) :020: D.C. United was another that wanted a traditional football name so :021: :021: Kansas City are called the wizards because the main character in Wizard of Oz is from Kansas !!! :020: :020: :020: New England Revolution are so called because of the New England region's involvement in the American Revolution :020: New York have - in my opinion - one of the worst names as the 'Red Bulls' purely and simply because of commercial reasons (Red Bull purchased the club in 2006). Before that they were the New York / New Jersey Metrostars which was also a commercial name ... The club actually started as the 'Empire Soccer Club' but changed to MetroStars because the owner had a company called Metro Media. It might have been MetroFlash had main sponsor Nike got its way but a compromise of MetroStars was reached which is still better than Red Bull !!! :020: :020: :020: :020: Chivas USA (or more precisely Deportivo Chivas USA) is called this because the co-owners own clubs in Mexico (Deportivo Gudalajara) and Costa Rica (Deportivo Saprissa). The mexican side has the nickname Chivas so probably not a bad name in the end considering that most of its fans and players are latino. :022: Colorado Rapids - No confirmation of the origin of the name but most believe it is because of the Colorado River which is a very important resource in the state. The team signed a partnership deal with Arsenal in early 2007 and briefly considered changing name to Arsenal Colorado. fortunately this was shelved. :020: Dallas became respectable in 2004 when it changed its name to FC Dallas. Before that they were called Dallas Burn (not sure why). :022: Houston Dynamos are actually the San Jose Earthquakes in a new town (a bit like Clydebank/Airdrie although it is rumoured that San Jose will be back in the MLS next season which should be quite a rivalry). The name was originally floated as Houston 1836 (referring to the year Houston was founded) but this was controversial as the history had a lot to do with war between Mexicans and Americans and with a high latino population in the area, the name was dropped. Like Columbus, the owners then had a fan contest to decide the name but MLS stepped in and decided that fan contests would no longer be allowed to decide names for new teams and imposed the name Houston Dynamo. The Dynamo part is a reflection of the city's industrial economy and because a couple of defunct teams also had the name before. :020: LA Galaxy - not named after a chocolate bar but might as well be. The name is supposed to represent the fact that LA is home to a galaxy of stars ! :020: :020: :020: Real Salt Lake - The owner chose the name as he wanted to associate his team with Real Madrid ! Although fans initially hated the name, the club has now forged links with the Spanish giants. :020:
