  1. Interesting to note the apology to fans from the Burnley Chief Exec for turnstile problems at the weekend. http://www.burnleyfootballclub.premiumtv.c...1357929,00.html
  2. If it was so straightforward, might it have been better man management, and more confidence building to have said that two weeks ago when the question was first asked.
  3. I think referees should be fairly paid. However, unless we are going to go down the route of salaried full time referees who are accountable for their decisions, and whose performances are closely monitored, then a raise from ?575 to ?1000 for a top level match is ludicrous. I used to think full time referees might be a good thing - and it still may be depending on the actual ref - but after witnessing one of the most inept performances from a full time official that I have ever seen this past weekend at the Toronto FC V FC Dallas game I wonder. I do have some sympathy for refs in that it usually takes them quite some time to progress from their local association where they referee amateur or welfare league games for ?20 or ?30 a pop to running the line at non-league games for a little more, to reffing these games and then through the grades required to ref in the 3rd, 2nd, 1st and then the Premier and beyond. It does take dedication, it does take discipline and many may not make it, but you could say the same thing about players or anyone else in a job where they have to reach a certain level before promotion to the next one. That sympathy disappears when you hear of demands like this and the potential to hold the national sport and the fans of that sport to ransom.
  4. The referees are asking for a 39% wage rise. That is unrealistic, especially when you consider the quality of work produced by most of them.
  5. let us know what and where you were trying to upload and we can troubleshoot. Certain (older) galleries are closed to uploads and that may be part of the problem.
  6. I totally agree with that comment, and if you speak with myself or CaleyD you will find you are preaching to the converted, but can you tell the club that as well Alex ........ How we came to split from the official site and the machinations of what went on during that time is a long and somewhat boring story best told after several beers. However, even though it does have a few twists and turns and the odd stab in the back from those you least expect, we have always been happy to help the club in whatever way we can if they need it. We have offered help and assistance from day 1, we had a temporary official site running on a custom template for them 72 hours after the 'split' (it took 6 months+ for PTV to be up and running despite using a standard template), and we have suggested collaborating on several joint official/fan-site joint ventures yet many at the stadium, or at least those "advising" them, have kyboshed it before it starts. We are not the ones thinking its <site> V <site>
  7. Indeed it was Mee. For many years we tried to be everything to everyone and although that seemed to be fine for a while, in the end it just didnt work as the club got bigger and as the opinions got broader. We were either seen as censoring people (from the fan side) or for being too lenient (from certain club officials) A few people know where my breaking point came and courtesy of a few misdirected emails I know that the same incident was the club's breaking point in terms of letting an "outsider" run the site. Independence is a lot more cathartic and I think we have flourished when we have been in control of our own destiny

  9. Thank you for the nice comments folks. we appreciate it. No need to recap much as CaleyD has got it pretty spot on. I would however like to echo what he said with regards to Fiona. She basically IS the website, adding updates, stories etc and I am sure she must get frustrated when things cannot be published in a timely fashion for whatever reason. The problem doesn't lie there, its further up the food chain and in some cases outwith the club's control. Clubs can and will be held accountable to the SPL for official website content which is likely why Niculae stuff never got there until weeks after it had been discussed on here .... we can use "it is my understanding" or "we believe", or "it has been reported in ....." they cannot.
  10. Is this a test new photos thread ...... oh dear (the regulars from 3 or 4 years ago will know what I mean LOL)
  11. We actually put the menu at the TOP so that it reduced the amount of space it took up on the left or right compared to the old site. We also toyed with the idea of a fluid layout set to something like 90% of the page width but that brought inherent problems with it at either end of the screen-size scale. We may design a template that works for users who have problems with this one but that is going to be months down the road. We have just spent +6 months designing, tweaking and testing this one and we both deserve a bit of a rest.
  12. I believe I took that one ..... and these
  13. Of course they are - but we have to optimise the site for the majority. As only 3% of people who visit the site have a screen resolution set at 800x600 or below (and some of that 3% are iPhone, Blackberry or other mobile device users) then unfortunately we cant please everyone. Each has their own problems. We are working with a fixed width template because of what we wanted to achieve with the menus. We may, over time add other templates and allow users to select fluid templates that can please everyone including SP and his 800x600 resolution.
  14. Can see it being less than well subscribed if it is on the 26th September -- due to a few ICT fans being at a competing event taking place at the stadium - isnt that right Jnr / CCC
  15. The forum ? The site ? or all in general ? PS - think its being discussed a little in tech support but this thread is also ok.
  16. Site is optimised for 1024 x 768 screen resolution as used by about 80% of our users. If you are using less than that such as 800x 600 then sorry, you are one of less than 3% of users with a lower resolution and we decided not to optimise for those lower sizes.
  17. Believe someone else got the contract but from what others say it sounds like they may concentrate more on the prawn sandwichers. ..... Roscoe - thanks for pointing out info we need to amend, that one slipped by. If anyone notices any other obvious errors, please let us know.

  20. OK. looking around, it seems that a few of the things mentioned above are not currently available in this software without tweaks and no-one has written said tweaks yet !!! We will continue to look at ways to see if we can modify the code so that you can have your "list of most recent posts" [honestly didnt realise it was that important to people !!! as NO-ONE ever mentioned it as a must have when we spoke of upgrades] In the meantime, the VIEW NEW POSTS and TODAY'S ACTIVE TOPICS links in your member area should give you a similar list. VIEW NEW POSTS will give you a list of threads that have had posts added to them since you last viewed the site. It uses sessions so it doesnt matter if you login/out or come back already signed in. As you read the threads, they still show up in the list (as they are still new since your last session) but any with unread posts will have a little orange square next to the thread title. clicking on the orange square will take you to the latest unread post in that thread TODAYS ACTIVE TOPICS is probably closest to the list that was on the old site. This will show you a list of topics from today in reverse order with the newest first. Again, topics with new posts in them will show up with an orange square and clicking has same effect as above.
  21. Will look to see if there is a way to do the recent post thing although 'view new posts' and 'todays active topics' should cover most things. Warning thing - dont think so, not a feature of this software. Default quoting - you are using the wrong reply button. If you quick reply at the bottom of someone else's post, you are replying to that post so it is quoted. if you use the reply button at the bottom of the thread, it is not quoted.
  22. Depends on his international credentials ... sounds like both he and Obua are "integral" parts of the Ugandan squad.
  23. My question is how the **** does CB find out about a 22 year old Ugandan player who has never played for County :015: :015:
  24. I thought you were taking the p!ss .... but then I checked 26/07: Going to Hearts ? 01/08: or maybe Inverness ?
  25. I could have deleted that last post and claimed 400 for myself .... but as this saga is not yet over, I will content myself on trying to be #500 !!
