  1. Dont care who scores so long as we do score !!! [note: 'Dick' now removed from swear filter. We used a readymade filter and some words in it may have been allowed before. let us know of any anomalies you find during normal use of forum]
  2. and Good luck to Chris Pozniak ..... a former Toronto FC squad player who signed for the Dees today after impressing as a trialist at the weekend.
  3. his application had to go to an appeal because Uganda are ranked lower than 70 ..... If it ever happened then this guy would probably have to appeal too.
  4. Turned out to be quite easy ..... I think .... just have to wait and see if I broke anything else by doing it.
  5. OK got ya now .... will investigate when I can and if possible, amend it so it reads something like this <<Next Oldest ? Forum Index . <current forum> Index ? Next Newest >>
  6. Cant promise anything, but we can certainly investigate. It would likely involve some degree of hacking the code so wont be done immediately as we want to be sure everything is running as it should before mutilating the core coding. What exactly do you want a link to ? The main forum page? (ie main index of all forums), the index for the forum you are currently in? or something else? Please explain.
  7. yeah - we will add that to the list of little things to 'tweak'
  8. I admire your thinking but the practicalities are somewhat different as I will explain below. As a shareholder, I will also want answers to some fairly serious questions if there is a huge hole in our accounts once the dust has settled around Marius. I tend to agree with CaleyD's sums on this whole thing and even if we pay him his cut in full, then we should still have turned a profit on the sale as well as on the signing a year ago. anyhoo, back on topic ..... If you read Ian Broadfoot's book, you will see my name mentioned a few times and one of the times is in relation to a scheme I dreamt up called the "Pay A Player" project. The idea - which emerged when we were very close to a financial precipice before DFS did his juggling and magic act to make our debt disappear - was that fans would join a scheme that would take anything from ?10 upwards from their bank via direct debit each month and that all money raised would go to Steve Paterson to either enhance conditions for existing players (thereby keeping our best ones) or to pay the wages of a new player. Basically, Steve was going to get the money and so long as it went to one of those two situations, he could do what he preferred. It got decent press coverage, I got stopped in bars and on the street with people telling me it was a great idea, and some of the club's smaller sponsors even contacted me to say they would consider coming on board because this way they knew their sponsorship would be used where they wanted it to be used. In the end, it never got off the ground, not because of lack of trying but for two main reasons. The first was David Sutherland's financial turnaround of the club which made the idea less pressing, and the second was the apathy of people when the idea of parting with money suddenly became the reality of parting with money. For some reason they were happy to talk the talk, but when it came to parting with cold hard cash, the list of interested parties shrunk quicker than Gordon Brown's popularity. I was only asking for a minimum of ?10 per month with the proviso that people signed up in something like 6 month stints at a time so the expenditure for someone who joined and then left would only be around ?60 ..... If I couldnt get ?60 from many supporters, then I fear ?500 is a figure that most would scoff at, especially when most have other financial concerns of their own.
  9. St Johnstone @ 2.00
  10. It is hosted by the same people ... the club's actually run the content and features side of things (in most cases). I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but it is my understanding that PTV offer the clubs the basic platform for nothing more than a percentage of the advertising revenue generated. It is therefore (like we were on sportnetwork) essentially a free site. PTV also do the work of sourcing that advertising taking away any effort on the club's part. This was a big selling point for the club at the time as they are basically making money for allowing PTV to sell advertising using their name ...... That is not a criticism by the way, its pretty good in my eyes. However, where it falls down in my eyes is that many clubs choose to use their website revenue to develop their sites and offer some of the additional features that PTV make available to clubs as 'bolt-ons' (like the audio/video or <club>TV sections) . ICT have not done that ... maybe they arent making the money they expected?
  11. I had this problem earlier today and so did another user who contacted me. I believe I resolved it from the site end but you may need to take a look at your own settings and make sure both the domain of caleythistleonline.com and subdomain of community.caleythistleonline.com are allowed to set cookies. If you play the SPL Prediction leage the same would apply to predictions.caleythistleonline.com
  12. That will be the same forum and fans who have sponsored him for the last how many years ?
  13. And sometimes they are even true
  14. Many didnt realise the SFL started last week and with us changing the forum software last week that may also have confused some. I have posted a message in main forum reminding people about this comp as well as the NPL and the other Prediction League.
  15. As everyone gets used to the new forum, some of us (myself included) may have forgotten about some of the competitions we have running. The SPL Prediction League: This is the same as last year's competition and can be found using the features menu under Prediction League or at this URL. http://predictions.caleythistleonline.com If you took part last season, all you need to do is login with whatever username and pasword you set, 'join' the the 2008/09 league, and start predicting. If you are a new user, all you need to do is setup your prediction account (it can be same as your forum one if you want) and start predicting in the 2008/09 league. This Prediction League starts this week. NPL Prediction League: Gringo's Prediction League takes place in the NPL forum and rules/regs can be found there. Again, this starts this week. http://community.caleythistleonline.com/in...hp?showforum=12 The Napsters Prediction League: If you took part in this last year, please note that this started up last week and some (including me) may have missed it. Membership of this league is restricted so if you want to take part, please speak with CaleyD. http://community.caleythistleonline.com/in...hp?showforum=20
  16. Yeah - will need to check some of the settings and permissions and maybe even read the documentation
  17. Will check it out. notice you created on that was a zip and then another with the photos.
  18. If we accept that referee wages are artificially low (not sure I do, but lets assume so for a second) and a big pay rise was needed to bring them even somewhat into line with other leagues, then I hope this ongoing discussion focuses on bringing their performances and level of accountability into line with those other leagues. A 39% wage rise should mean a huge improvement in the standard ......... but I won't hold my breath
  19. not really averted, just caving into their demands of a 39% increase instead of the 4.74% initially offered. I guess it is better than the near 74% rise that the ?1000 demand would have been !!!
  20. As most existing users will know, we transferred all our postings from one forum system (SMF) to this new one (IPB) and 99% of it works very well. However, some topics are generating an error that appears on screen as IPS DRIVER ERROR when a user clicks into it. If you encounter one of these errors, please let us know the name of the thread and which forum it was in so that we can fix it. So far, these errors have been a simple fix and have been happening because something got lost in translation so to speak. Cheers
  21. Fairways is a well known one that has been around as a pre-match venue for a while .... so if pictures and a review are forthcoming we would probably be quite happy to add it.
  22. As it was pointed out to us that some of the info in our Pub/Grub and Accomodations page was wrong, I have updated it a little. http://caleythistleonline.com/club-guide/pubgrub-guide However, this is the opportunity for others to perhaps recommend places we have not listed. Pubs: Caley Club: If anyone has a photo (which they have the right to use) of the interior/exterior that we can add to the page, please send or attach here. If anyone would like to update our review, please also send me a message. Innes Bar: I have a photo of the inside added, and have sent an email to someone asking for permission to use their exterior photo but if anyone has one of the exterior or wants to update the review, please let me know. Other Bars: If there are other bars where ICT fans congregate or who run busses to the stadium then we will be happy to feature them. Reviews and pictures required. Grub: If anyone wants to send us more info about decent eateries (or cashpoints/bookmakers or other 'service' info) near the ground, please feel free. I know that Woody's may be a candidate for inclusion, but are there others? Does the Wickes Burger Bar still exist? Accomodation: We have removed a couple of hotels from this page as we felt they were not really offering anything special for fans and were basically getting free advertising when really they should be paying for it. We are however happy to feature 'football-friendly' hotels, guest houses, or B&Bs if backed up by fan reviews.
  23. This idea has some merit .... so long as there is monitoring of performance and more accountability as I mentioned in last post.
  24. MLS has - I think - 4 full time referees and the danger seems to be that these referees feel the game becomes more about them than the players. I know there are some refs we could probably say that about already but when they are put on a par with the players, the egos do tend to come out even more !!! Canadians tend to be very polite and sporting but the full-time ref at Toronto FC V Dallas this past weekend had to be escorted from the field by Toronto police (and stayed in the stadium until 7:30pm, nearly 2 hours after the final whistle) after a string of ludicrous calls that culminated in two red cards for TFC players and 20,000 fans singing "**** you ref" in unison for the last 10 minutes !!! The first red was possibly justified (hard to tell - it was for an elbow at far end of pitch from where I was) but it was equally hard to tell for the ref who had to run 30 yds (from the left wing position where the ball actually was) to issue a straight red to Toronto's Amado Guevara and (with the score at 0-0) award a penalty against TFC. When the incident happened, you could see the linesman (who apparently had a good view) flagging and when the ref talked to him it was clear that he was indicating that any incident happened well outside the box. The ref over-ruled him and was heard to berate him and tell him that he was the full time official and the penalty and red card would stand !!! Needless to say the penalty was scored and just 5 minutes later another player was red carded for dissent about the incident and Dallas went on to score their second. This ref has a history with several teams and many fans around MLS despair when his name is mentioned because it seems that full time status has brought out the ego in him and he thinks he is infallible. If we are to have full time refs then there would have to be some form of monitoring and accountability to avoid numpties like the one I saw this weekend.
