  4. The answer to the question is no. not televised. its not a match that was moved for TV, just one that was previously postponed. not listed on SPFL website as televised by anyone. At least you guys will get radio !!! midweek games are the worst for me .. even if I could get streaming audio through the work firewall, then I would face my next challenge of no unauthorised VPNs allowed .... and thethering is not an option as my mobile has just run out of data for this month with my billing cycle not resetting until midnight tonight !

  13. I know -- waiting for them to mispronounce Darren O'Dea as 'Darren Oh Day'. The big man himself, when at Toronto FC confirmed it was pronounced 'Darren Oh Dee' .... for some reason, the phonetic pronunciation of a player name is included in their website profile ... proved handy when we signed Raivis Hščanovičs or the perfect example ... this guy today: http://www.torontofc.ca/post/2016/02/27/toronto-fc-sign-tsubasa-endoh

  15. The more buses the merrier .. its an onerous task to organise and administer (been there, done that, and had all the hassle). The 'official' bus(es) will not suit everyone just like the 'independent' buses wont either ... room for both IMHO.
  16. The term 'eskimo' is still used in Alaska as it covers both Inuit and Yupik peoples. However, its a bit like the 'n' word where you might typically see (or hear) it in use by those who are in that ethnic group themselves but frowned upon if anyone else uses it. So as not to take this further off topic, the link here explains the current acceptable terminology ... https://www.itk.ca/note-terminology-inuit-metis-first-nations-and-aboriginal ... and sadly Jagster, you are right, there are (and always have been) terrible social problems within that population both because of lifestyle and in large part due to the terrible treatment and lack of access to social programs and even health care meted out over the course of the last couple of centuries ! but again that's another discussion thread ....
  17. updates (POY poll, Stats etc) will not be posted until later. Heading out with friends for a brewery tour !!!! Gringo might appreciate this: http://www.ontariocraftbrewers.com/brewery.php?brewery=trafalgar

  19. This is the best post in the thread. I do not agree with every word, particularly as I personally have an issue with the honesty and/or integrity of some stewards based on my own personal experiences but where guilt can be established without a reasonable doubt, and for everything else mentioned you are spot on . Stewarding is NOT only an issue if you hope to get away with unacceptable behaviour. You said it yourself in the very next sentence ... what about when the steward themselves is exhibiting the bad behaviour (ie. like lying or making stuff up or acting like some trumped up little hitler?). Not saying they did in this case, just that it bothers me that the sheriff appears to assume they are credible simply because they are in a position of power .... its like referees .... I have actually been present at games in the amateur league when I was on the committee and have seen incidents that then come up to the disciplinary committee and even though I know the referee report is a pile of horse**** and voice that to the committee we HAVE TO take the referee's word as gospel because at the time (pre Dougie McDonald) the SAFA and the SFA would never sanction a referee and admit they were lying. In terms of this particular individual who has been banned, if he did it then he deserves to get some form of sanction but as I have said already, it strikes me, based on the article, that there are several things that may or may not add up and I am left wondering whether it is possible that he too could have been misheard. Its completely irrelevant now as he was found guilty and banned but what really bothered me was the inference made in judgement that the steward(s) were beyond reproach. Whilst most are very good, friendly and decent, that has not been my experience with all of the stewards at the TCS nor at other football grounds on two different continents so I am sorry, I do take what they say with a very large grain of salt. It was a few years ago, before our then chief exec left to run the city centre. My friend was not officially excluded from the football as far as I am aware but was invited summoned down to a formal meeting with said exec as well as the DoF and threatened with having his season ticket revoked despite the lack of any credible evidence. He received a lot of support from those around him who verified his explanation of the real facts, and agreed that the steward(s) in question had - at best - either misheard him or were quite plain and simply lying. As someone who has (had) been a stalwart at the football since day one, and who had possessed a season ticket at the TCS since the day it opened, it left a very bitter taste in his mouth and he did give himself some self-imposed exile ... not because of any guilt, but because the club and its officers had treated him so shabbily. My friend, his wife, and his children still attend the football and still have season tickets but for a long time this episode was a very real impediment to his enjoyment.
  20. ok folks - we are getting a bit personal here so yellow card treatment for this topic. lets stick to the debate/discussion and pull back a little from the personal point scoring stuff.
  21. You may have access to more info than most on here CaleyD, so perhaps you know different and the facts are indeed more clear cut than the article would have us believe ... but for me, there are far too many imponderables to assume guilt regardless of the rendered verdict. 'Not Proven' might have been appropriate in this case. Where the sheriff has formed his opinion seems to be based on his belief about the credibility of the stewards, as mentioned in the article. Thats a lot of faith in a group of people (rather than individuals) who have been found wanting numerous times in the past !
  22. not sure about a slur on the club .... but certainly a tough one for the individual concerned. Courier article is available without the silly P&J firewall here: http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/News/UK-wide-ban-for-ICT-fans-racist-insult-17022016.htm Having witnessed stewards trying to stitch up a friend of mine at extremely close quarters by stating he said one thing when he in fact said something else and then not having the bottle to admit they may have heard what they wanted to hear rather than what was actually said then I personally take what any steward says with grains of salt large enough to de-ice the A9 for a couple of seasons. Unless he was doing it multiple times (not clear from the article in the Courier) and somehow they managed to isolate him and only him as the culprit rather than 20 or 30 others, and could hear clearly what was being said all the way down at the front without the sound drifting off as it tends to do at the TCS, then I can only assume he was getting nailed due to previous indiscretions and that smacks of retribution not justice. Having said that - it does clearly show that whatever actions you take part in whilst at a football ground - chanting, smoke bombs, flares etc .... DO or can have major ramifications .....
  23. dont think I will be around during today's game so other updates, POY poll etc will follow later
