  1. Yup, definitely a blast from the past and for sure someone you could not get past with wallet intact .... funnily enough on my trip back in May I was driving behind a John Cummings van at the muirtown roundabout and thought back to when I used to interact with him both at ICT and also in a trade sense as he used to fit kitchens for our firm. End of the day, we should be welcoming anyone who has the best interests of the club at heart or who can maximise our earnings, regardless of which 'regime' they came from.
  2. Card Happy Craig ruins the day. Inverness went down to a Craig Thomson decision to award a penalty after Paul McMullan burrowed his way into the box and through a blockade of legs and bodies. He made the referee make the decision and he pointed rather hastily to the spot. McMullan took the kick himself and scored with ease as Mark Ridgers went the opposite way from the ball. A large away contingent made for a healthy crowd for the opening game of the season as Inverness took to the park minus the injured captain Gary Warren, Ross Draper handed the armband. Quality defender Collin Seedorf missed out through injury. John Baird and George Oakley were the pairing trusted to get the goals. Dundee United were without the suspended Scott McDonald and Mathew Smith which meant that Paul McMullan continued to spearhead their attack. It was with much trepidation that many Caley Jags fans ventured forth after last seasons relegation and changes to personnel, the Betfred Cup games offering little reassurance to the home fans. However, they turned up to see how we would fare against hot tips Dundee United. Early exchanges showed that we were willing to take the game to United and we carved out a few opportunities to create chances, but there were no takers for the trickery of Ricardo Calder or the class and prompting of Iain Vigurs. We went behind on thirteen minutes when McMullan lunged into the legs blocking his route to goal and Thomson did not hesitate to offer the penalty to United. A bit harsh on the defenders who were already on the ground but McMullan made the most of it and converted thereafter. Calder was causing havoc down our left flank, skinning the defenders with ease, but the final ball evading all but the keeper and his defenders in the visitors box. Plenty of long diagonal balls finding Calder, alas, he was unable to make the most of them. Mark Ridgers did pull off one brilliant save early on when United threatened inside the box, the keeper able to parry the ball to safety when a goal looked the likeliest outcome. For all our territorial superiority, we never managed to create the clear chances that United were able to, and Ross Draper took it upon himself to burst into the box along the byeline. Unfortunately his grounding looked a bit suspect, and when Tam Scobbie squared up to Draper, the pair found themselves in the refs wee black book. We reached the break just one goal down, but not too dispirited given our bright opening to the game. Half Time 0-1 The lack of a goal threat was worrying and that theme continued after the interval with us having the possession, but United having the better chances. They should have wrapped up the points late in the game after a bit of slackness at the back. The game seemed to pause, or go into slow motion and it ended with Sam Stanton curling a shot over the vacant net, the defence not covering themselves in glory at that point. We put plenty of effort into this one, but nobody was willing to take the bull by the horns as the game became littered with shameful play acting and general thuggery, mostly on the part of the visitors who killed the flow of the game any way they deemed necessary. However they seemed to have a decent alibi in Craig Thomson who allowed them to get away with most of the attempts to disrupt the beautiful game. He did however almost wear out his yellow card, nine bookings in total Full Time 0-1 Despite this loss, we can take heart from the overall performance against the Champions elect. It took a disputed penalty to win the game. The biggest disappointment from Robbo's point of view will be the lack of clear opportunities we created. Lewis in goal never really had to break sweat other than the amount of crosses or corners he had to gather out of the air untroubled. Ricardo Calder looked a big threat wide on the left. He was literally dealt a huge blow that went unpunished from the shoddy Craig Thomson, having to leave the game after ten minutes of the second half. Iain Vigurs looked to be a class above anyone else and was my MotM, especially in the first half and he did break sweat with one track back and crucial intervention. Mark Ridgers pulled off one tremendous save, although some of the pass backs put him under pressure and the clearances were a bit iffy. The defence were missing Warren and Seedorf and that's an area Robbo will be keeping a close eye on. Another area worth watching is up front. Where are the goals going to come from? So, not too disheartened, but still a familiar feel about the defeat. We all knew it would take a bit of time for everyone to find their feet, so patience will be a virtue this season. 14. You would have to win it multiple times to even put Neymar into the conversation ! Yup, that was what I was thinking too .... Provide manager with a healthy sum to make a challenge to get us back into the premiership Pave car park Provide a walkway/tunnel under A9 so no more live action "frogger" on the main road Use one corner of stadium for Club Shop ... or move offices into the corner and use the current office area as shop. Look to see what could be done in other three corners in terms of revenue generating business or offices. Look to see what providing a 4th stand would cost. This stand would be low level (due to gas line) and fitted with the safe standing area style of seats so it could be terracing when allowed. General spruce up all round. Paint some of the faded coloring back to what it was etc. If there is anything left, subsidise season tickets for fans for a few years and also the travel club so we can build our fanbase at home and also on the road.
  15. either would have been appropriate for last season !

    Live Video

Not really fair. As you say, the chairman changed but some of the board are the same and this is the same board that did approve a number of initiatives brought to them by the media team to enhance the media and online presence of the club. I think the biggest issue right now is lack of personnel. People were already doing more work than before as we didn't really ramp up the staffing levels after our last relegation and subsequent promotion so with more cuts, and others leaving at the end of last season, it's a threadbare staff for the championship with those that are left doing their best to get it done. I am hopeful that the club will maintain most of what we had last season but given the cost and technical requirements of producing and streaming the live video I would not hold my breath on seeing that until we are back in he premiership
  17. Maybe we could make it look more legit by having it in Latin : Latin translation of Pride of the Highlands is altitudo montis which literally translated means 'height of the mountains' or if entering it word by word it would be superbia de montanis universisque Only joking .... happy with our proper badge
  18. Got it. Thanks. Had not checked system for a few days. Sorry.
  19. Trying to keep up to date with the Player of the Year standings this year !!! I have updated my magic spreadsheet where i enter the poll results and let it spit out the numbers .... so it should not be a huge task if I do it each month and stay up to date ..... so without further adieu, here are the details for July 2017 4 Matches this month in the League Cup : Brechin, Stirling, Falkirk and Forfar A total of 237 votes cast for 13 different players A total of 42 POY points awarded One player received 5 points in 3 of the 4 games, another received 5 points in 2 of the games (there was a joint winner in the Stirling game). These are the early leaders Player of the month for July with a massive 70 votes is Collin Seedorf with Iain Vigurs way behind in second (38 votes) and George Oakley third (26 votes) Leader in the POY standings is of course the aforementioned Collin Seedorf who has more points than all the other players combined except Iain Vigurs who is close behind him. Player of the Year Standings Player Brechin Stirling Falkirk Forfar POY Pts Collin Seedorf 5 5 5 15 Iain Vigurs 5 3 5 13 Riccardo Calder 3 1 4 Ross Draper 3 3 Gary Warren 3 3 John Baird 1 1 Jake Mulraney 1 1 George Oakley 1 1 Liam Polworth 1 1 Votes Cast & Player of the Month Awards Player JUL AUG SEP OCT NOV DEC JAN FEB MAR APR MAY John Baird 10 Connor Bell 0 Riccardo Calder 6 Joe Chalmers 1 Alex Cooper 4 Aaron Doran 0 Ross Draper 19 Zak Elbouzedi 0 Matthew Elsdon 3 Ryan Esson 0 Owain Fon-Williams 0 Cammy Mackay 0 Brad Mckay 11 Jake Mulraney 24 George Oakley 26 Liam Polworth 3 David Raven 0 Mark Ridgers 0 Collin Seedorf 70 Carl Tremarco 0 Iain Vigurs 38 Gary Warren 22 Felitciano Zschusschen 0 A little note as to how we work out the points and standings For every game people can give out their top 3 votes (5,3,1) to three players At the end of the voting period for each game we calculate not only the total votes cast (regardless of value) but also total combined points value of the 5/3/1 point votes The player with the highest combined points value in each game gets 5 POY points, second gets 3 and third gets 1. If there is a tie then we just issue both players with the relevant number of points At the end of the month we tally up both the number of votes cast and the POY points earned that month The player with the highest vote quantity - regardless of points value - is the Player of the Month. The POY points total does not affect Player of the Month award. This gives players who might amass a large number of 2nd or 3rd place votes an equal chance at being POM despite not sitting on top of the overall rankings.
  20. We maintain the squad list program for the club but can only do so when we receive the information. We also maintain the technical aspects of the website (hosting and security updates) but have no responsibilities in terms of the editorial content. We have recently invested quite a lot of money to revamp the squad/stats program and we hope the fruits of that will be seen soon. For some reason, even now the season is underway, the club seem reluctant to pass squad information on in a timely fashion. I dont have time to chase it down on a daily basis. This is where the club (and the supporters) should realise how much they really miss Don or someone like him. You can slag him off or cast aspersions as to his motives/character or anything else, and you can disagree with him mildly or vehemently, but the simple fact of the matter is that he was the one running around collating this info, getting in onto the site, and doing a whole host of other things including looking at a total revamp of the (official) site that would cost the club five figures if they put it out to tender. Thats before you even look at the media side of things with twitter/facebook and the push to get audio/video coverage for fans of the club. This is not a criticism of the others who are trying to pick up the slack. We do still have a media team and they will do sterling work but its not an easy task and it will take time for them to fill the empty shoes. Peter has had to step into the breach for the website and add that on top of all his other duties so he posts what he can when he can find a spare second or two. I am sure if you give him a brush he can stick it somewhere and sweep the floor at the same time !! There is still a non-techy (as opposed to technophobe) culture at the TCS and the first thought is not to get things onto the website or social media .... so unless you have someone going round and cajoling others for the information or sticking video/still cameras in people's faces then you are going to see a diminished product this year. I hope I am wrong, but thats how I see it.
  21. My understanding - and it might not be entirely accurate - is that the editorial team use the 'team' function of Tweetdeck to share the account and post updates. This allows multiple people to tweet under one account without knowing the master password. This was previously turned on/off as required to make sure the account was secure and is likely set to off right now. Others in the stadium who post commercial or other team news etc post directly to twitter so would still have access. nothing sinister and likely to be remedied when the club complete any investigation ... hopefully by this weekend ?
  22. scary but true
  23. The question was reasonable, as was the answer, post 3 was not. My (uninformed) opinion is that they shut it down last weekend as part of the reaction to the misdirected 'like'. They said it would be investigated so cant really open it up for posting the next day. Once they have investigated I reckon that normal service will be resumed.
  24. no number listed by club yet. he was injured before making any squad appearances so they havent (publicly) confirmed squad number
  25. You should be able to just 'purchase' them again in the store. http://caleythistleonline.com/store/ The store link should work. We have reached enough to sponsor Polworth's shirt and have paid the club for this already. If we get enough interest we can sponsor another item once we know what is available. If we get to the next target before mid September then that will be fine. If not I will either refund the payments to the sponsors or donate it to the club. (based on user preference).
