  1. cheers. just 5 slots to go ... can we reach it by the start of the season at the weekend ?
  2. Scotty replied to tm4tj's topic in Caley Thistle
There are more things than just previews or reports .... if anyone wants to contribute in terms of basic news articles about whats going on, OP-ed pieces, anything really ... then get in touch. Whether its "real" news like signings, injuries, etc, stats and facts, or some other 'fluff' its all good ..... CTO does have official access to the pre-match press conferences and photocalls, and a pretty good relationship with the club for other stuff that we might dream up, so any aspiring journalists on the site who want to contribute while they learn, or maybe find a route to helping the club officially as part of their editorial team could do worse than pen a few articles for us on the way ...... also, I know we do have a few aspiring and established photographers on the site .... we would really like to make use of the galleries a bit more so if you are interested, lets talk about what we can do. There are also blogs available for users who want to publish their own opinions on a regular basis. We can link it to an external blog or you can write it right here on the site .... again, lets talk if interested. We really would like to up the content on here this year by getting those who are interested more involved and giving them more latitude to publish and post their content ... ' just to add - for much of this it would be a case of self-publishing not passing it through TM4TJ. He has his hands full, and does a tremendous job almost single-handed of organising the previews, reports and other stuff and co-ordinating who is writing them etc.
  3. yup - would have to agree. its yet to be seen on the park, but it looks like a fairly solid set of signings as opposed to anything spectacular.
  4. OK. I stand corrected. thanks. Must have been added recently then as I do recall instances where this happened in the not too distant past.
  5. Depends whats specifically written into the loan agreement alongside any recall clauses. My understanding is that the 'dont play against the loaner club' is typically a gentleman's agreement and not usually enforceable. That Scotsman article has a few comments questioning his ability and attitude, especially after returning from Rangers. I did have to laugh however at the comment about "finding his level" .... last I heard, we were in the same division .....
  6. 6 spots left ..... can we reach it soon ?
  7. Yup - totally agree. As an ex-pat, its very important (to me) to have Inverness as part of the name of the club on the stuff I wear. Its a source of pride in my home town and my club. It has started many a conversation with some folk commenting on the "beauty" of the name and how it sounds decidedly Scottish with the use of the words Caledonian and Thistle. Other folk have heard of us for one reason or another, whilst a few do indeed comment on how bloody long and how much of a mouthful the name is. ICTFC, and the Pride of the Highlands subtitle whilst handy on social media where brevity is crucial does not have the same effect but it makes sense to have some graphics to support the social media presence or campaigns. I would (will) have no issue wearing merchandise with the short form of ICTFC on it IF I like it (and I do like the new strip), especially around friends in Toronto as my friends all know who I support, just as I know which of them support Hearts, Feyenoord, Coventry, Arsenal etc without looking at the badge ... but I would still rather it had our proper name on it. I do however want the club and the team to continue using the proper badge and name.
  8. You seem to be the one showing contempt for those who see this as a concern. No-one else is shouting you down or making puerile posts aimed to denigrate others' opinions (and making a very basic historical mistake in the process). FWIW, I don't think I was showing contempt for the use of an (already established) abbreviation of the club name, and I have absolutely no issue with it being used on fan merchandise, social media etc. I could care less in these places (and on here) whether we are called ICTFC, Inverness CT, Caley Thistle, Caley Jags, or Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC ... its all the same ... However, I do have an issue if it is to replace the official branding of the club on the crest which (apart from the first season) has been Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC. The badge can be tweaked to suit, it has already been done, and was kept within the original parameters, just made less complicated for manufacturers or printers to replicate. If we are to tweak the club name officially to the abbreviated version then that is a far larger change worthy of more discussion. Sorry I could not be in North East Scotland to support the youngsters on Saturday .... I was sitting in the emergency room (A&E) in Toronto with my two year old son who was feeling unwell. that's called #priorities !!! (he's fine now BTW) : PS - only one #keyboardwarrior in this thread and its not me ... The people who made the re-design and the officials of the club all know who I am and whilst we may agree or disagree on the odd thing we can (and do) respect each other. Even for those who dont know me, I post under my first name not a pseudonym and am never hard to find. Incidentally - as for the kit itself - from the pictures I have seen so far I think it looks like a cracker and once I am sure it fits CaleyD I will definitely be getting my hands on one (the size guide on JD website seems a little 'tight') ... May even get the vanilla one (with a small v ;) ) too .
  9. A little misleading methinks ..... The 're-working' of the badge was indeed done 9 or 10 years ago, you are right. It was changed from the first to the second image shown below ostensibly because Errea and others found it hard to replicate the original intricacies/textures of the eagle and thistle on material and merchandise. However, the club name remained fully intact. Or to put it another way, it was re-worked but not re-worded .... Dont think anyone has an issue with that adjustment of the crest, at least not in this thread ... its the apparent re brand of Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC to "ICTFC Pride of the Highlands" that seems to be drawing most of the ire. If the re-wording is for replica merchandise sold to fans, or as a tagline on social media etc, then as I said, I personally dont have an issue with it, but if the official branding is now to be "ICTFC Pride of the Highlands" instead of our proper club name that's a different discussion, and a different answer from me !
  10. We are in the process of setting up our 2016/17 Prediction Leagues. Here are the details Gringo has already setup the NPL for this year where you can predict the outcome of Caley Thistle matches, and you can read the rules, entitlements and access the matchday predictions here: http://caleythistleonline.com/forum/12-gringos-npl/ The SPFL Prediction League is based on predicting the scorelines of each week's SPFL (Premiership) fixtures and is just a bit of fun. If you completed last season, go here, login, and add yourself to the 2016/17 league http://predictions.caleythistleonline.com/index.php?cmd=profile . If you want to take part this season but you are not already on the list then you need to create an account (separate to your forum account) and login to predict. The fixtures for the first few weeks will be added in the coming days. http://caleythistleonline.com/features/predictionleague.html/ Fixtures for first 4 league games now added. As with previous seasons, you can joint the prediction league any time you like, but there are 10 bonus points for every correctly predicted result in the first month so it does benefit you points-wise to be in from the start.
  11. I would hope the ICTFC and 'Pride of the Highlands' stuff is just for the replica kit for fans (and other fan merchandise) and hence why it is shown in JD Sports pre-order. IF that is the case then I see no issue. However, I am in agreement with others on this that it would not be correct for this change to be made on anything official (team kits, letterheads or anything else that is our official identity), especially without consultation with the fans and/or shareholders of the club.
  12. Wales - Iceland final would be great but have a feeling its going to be Portugal - France . Payet may be the difference maker for France.
  13. and more importantly .... the daily payments from UEFA for OFW keep rolling in ... and with Portugal having failed to win a single game in normal time throughout the tournament they should have no fears ..... A Wales / Iceland final for me would be so cool !!!!
  14. Reading the article about Brian Rice staying on to be Richie's assistant, one paragraph caught my eye ... and that was the players form ICT currently doing their UEFA badges .... http://www.highland-news.co.uk/Sport/Football/Inverness-Caley-Thistle/Rice-is-ready-to-cook-with-new-ICT-boss-Foran-29062016.htm nice to see a few names there ... but it seems hard to find info about what other players may also have done them or are at different (earlier) levels ....
  15. I am more concerned with who we sign compared to when we sign them ... the right players before the start of the season is far better than any old players right now.
  16. found this :
  17. Getting back on topic ... I had to laugh yesterday at all the English media and commentators talking about this being England's worst single result since 1950 and how badly England had played without any praise for Iceland whatsoever. Bullshit !!!! Thats euro snobbery at its finest. With the way this week has gone, I see it as one small Island nation defeating another ! <sarcasm> Iceland has risen from 110+ in the FIFA rankings in 2010 to #34 now. They are nestled in between Ireland (33) and Sweden (35) and losing to either of those countries would not have met with such furore ! They are also 9 places above Scotland and will no doubt shoot even further up the list after the Euro 2016 ranking points have been added. They have completely revamped their domestic facilities utilising geo-thermal power and indoor facilities to be able to train 12 months a year instead of just the 3 they used to be able to and have subsidised more than 700 coaches to go take their UEFA badges .... When we visited there recently I was astonished to find that they had so many professional teams and what percentage of the population actually plays and watches football. Anyone who underestimates them or who chooses to brush them aside (as plenty of commentators have) has his/her head up their ar** ! Áfram Ísland!
  18. and in case anyone thinks you are joking ...... (click image to engorge enlarge it)
  19. Yes, we had some of that on our recent trip there ........ very nice
  20. General Nonsense has existed as a forum for 10+ years I think as has serious discussion and others, all accessible from the forum index. There has never been an NFL forum as that would fall under other sports but there is an NPL forum which is Gringo's Prediction League. Happy to engage in dialogue (without red dots) for any constructive ideas. always have been.
  21. Yep, we have used it as our 'subtitle' on here for more than 16 years although we only registered the domain in about 2006/07 or so when cybersquatting on various CTO (and ICT) domains became an issue.
  22. mmm : http://prideofthehighlands.com
  23. I did not know Matty, nor do I believe I ever met him, but can certainly appreciate the work he did at ICT. My condolences to those who held him dear and who are grieving at this time.
  24. If they get to the next round I am sure there will be a plaque put up in Reykjavik. They will of course look after it so it does not decay.
  25. updated the payments received this weekend. thanks.
