Announcement re Managerial Situation
Think it would have been even higher had he fulfilled a cup run and got us in the top 3. His ambition at Hibs must be a league and cup double. Anything else, he could achieve at ICT.

Think it might well be Levein and Robbo.

Probably tongue in cheek but it worked last time!

Wonder if Brew's looking for a return?

Butcher offski?
And all he had to do was sacrifice ambition, job security, loyalty and job satisfaction. I don't get why a paycheque for an already wealthy man is so important.

I still don't get the antipathy towards Calderwood. Dunfermline into Europe. Aberdeen a relegation side before and after he left but top six with some Euro success in between. From what I understand, did well in Holland too. Proven manager with a strong track record. Ideal.

I'd go for Paul Sturrock with Malpas. Luggy has had an amazing managerial career. Difficult to believe one of his main points in being sacked by Soton was 'wasting' £2M on the Aston Villa reserve Peter Crouch.

MAURICE MALPAS WANTS THE JOB SUNDAY MAIL
I don't think Malpas was hinting one way or another. Just keeping his cards close to his chest. The same way Butcher did with the initial speculation. There's not a lot to read into it.

Butcher offski?
After Saturday, I don't want Terry to begrudgingly be part of the cup run. This is where he's taken us. He decided to leave. End of his cup run. Ours keeps going. Y'know, I still find it amazing that Butcher is leaving with such a good team he's built up over the years, after persuading so many to stay and being in such a good position. £2000 a week (plus renegotiations and a truly big club coming in) over 10 years is better than £5000 over 2 (with little chance of success and no route to ambition).

Hibernian -V- Inverness CT
I never really got the "we're a better club than yours because we have more people going to watch them". Do you go to see thousands of people moaning or 11 players in the team? If it's the former, then ICT are close to the bottom of the league. Somehow, it seems to be goals, wins, losses and draws that matters to the table and cups. And to most fans. As it stands, Inverness are the better club. And I bet it stays that way all season.

MAURICE MALPAS WANTS THE JOB SUNDAY MAIL
Are we able to get a yes/no poll about Malpas added to this thread?

Mowbray was at Hibs with an amazing array of youth talent nurtured under previous managers. He was rank rotten at Celtic (even Brew would have not got hammered by St Mirren with that team) and poor at Boro. Not good enough.

I wouldn't be disappointed with a Foran / Malpas combination. Not sure how much Charlie and Foran know of each other but I would like to see Foran getting a coaching or rookie manager/asst manager chance.

Butcher offski?
If he has so little ambition as to move to a club where he'll spend another couple of years just trying to make Hibs a top six team (and probably fail like everone else, whilst being hated because he played for their arch-rivals, Rangers - cementing the Celtic Reserves title), get him out as quickly as possible. He was good for us but if he wants to leave, then the quicker the better. Certainly don't want someone that's looking at the opposition as a nice little earner to be in charge of ICT.

I see no reason to take on John Collins. He had a cup run. Very nice, but average in the league, plus a players revolt. Nothing to cling to there. Barry Ferguson dissed the Scottish meeja, rather than the fans. But I don't see he's got anything we desperately need. He's always be looking at Lanarkshire. Jim Jefferies was a great manager for Hearts and Falkirk, plus decent for most of the time with Killie. But, towards the end, it seemed like he had settled for retirement. Can't fault what he's doing at the Pars. What chance has he got with their troubles? Certainly wouldn't complain but I'm not sure he's got the ambition anymore. Levein has been good with clubs. Bit worried he was shown up at Scotland, but then, it's a completely different scenario. I'd sooner Burley. Amazing with Hearts and Ipswich and specialises in getting hidden talents. Likewise, McLeish only did well at Scotland (which is different) and Hibs. Not bad but not great at Motherwell and average to poor everywhere else. No problem with Robbo. Donald Park as assistant too? Not bad. Worth an interview. I would go for Jimmy Calderwood. A great success at Aberdeen and Dunfermline in the league (just take a look at the before and after). Did fine at Killie too and supposedly good in his Dutch career. Can't see why he gets the blame for spending. The directors set the limit, then the manager follows it. He'd be daft not to spend what he's been given.

Inverness C.T. -V- Partick Th
Scored 3 goals. Should have won. Even if one had counted, Partick would have had to chase the game, leaving more space. I do wish Adgestine (spelling?) had come on for a 4 4 2. Think that could have done something. Nevertheless, scored 3 good goals against one Partick and an error I dont expect to see again. No need to panic. The fortress should still be standing.

St Johnstone -V- I.C.T.
I think Polworth already was the experiment. I expect him to drop out next week. Not that you can lay blame onto one person but that might mean Ross to central, then Greenhalgh out wide? The important thing is to be confident and not dwell too long on a terrible result. Learn from it but know we can beat anyone on our day.

Lennon and Juanjo incident revisited
Grew up a Rangers supporter, switched to St Mirren when I got my own mind as a teenager then started supporting ICT when it was formed. But I do support Scottish teams in Europe. Thats the only time Celtic and support go together for me. Despise play acting and also, as I stated, think Celtic would have lost with or without Brown. Unlike DalneighDons here, I dont have a big team. ICTs first match, the friendly against the Buddies, meant I decided upon ICT from the start. Noone else. Can you say the same DC?

Lennon and Juanjo incident revisited
Well, I disagree with the last statement too. Barca would have carved out chances if needed. And all they need is one. Celtic can play well all they like but without a European-level striker, its always going to be in vain. Instead of spending money on squad players, they should have put as much as they could into the best striker they could. Yeah, it wont be Messi, even if they could afford him, but a 10-12M striker that can take and make a chance is all that stands between victory over AC Milan and a draw against Barca. It does make me feel a little better about Scottish football when a team from our league can stand against European powers.

Lennon and Juanjo incident revisited
The referee brought out a yellow card after the kick. He then looked at the 'severe' injury Neymar pretended to have. Then he put the card away and brought out the red. The histrionics were all important in getting Brown sent off. With no play acting, there is no red card from the ref. There were far more dangerous tackles in the game. If Kayal had play acted on a far more crude and injury threatening piece of recklessness, then its 10 v 10. Its not what I want to see. Get up and get on with the match. Just a piece of handbags at dawn. No injury and no threat of an injury.

Never a red card. Ive had more vicious handshakes. There were worse tackles in that game that went unpunished. Id rather the histrionics were cut out. Give Neymar a yellow card for that pretense at being shot.
