  1. Labour are warmongers and a soft touch on bankers, whilst the Tories have gay marriage and higher taxes for the rich than under Blair. The Tories are not Tories and Labour arent socialist. That left/right battle has long since changed. Im expecting the SNP to talk about the madness of independence next.
  2. I was never an Aberdeen supporter but I enjoyed that team. So much promising talent in Gary Smith (I was sure he would captain Scotland), Glass, Joe Miller (never really found his position), Jess, Bernard (if only his injuries had cleared up), Scott Booth, Inglis etc.
  3. Its not only that, you also need some other club consistently beating everyone else. Just cant see it. Aberdeen have a proven manager who is well respected internationally and off the back of a successful domestic run. They have signed solid players in central midfield, a returning captain and some bright talent on the wings. They will be Celtics main challengers. Oops! That was last year!
  4. its disgusting and I dont trust it. Is Wilson really happy to sign for 50% without any hidden bonuses?
  5. Trouble is, it's all through a media lens. I'm not sure exactly how good a job a person does based on their remit. For instance, I believe Doncaster was there to obtain as much money for the SPL as possible. That obviously means getting Rangers on board. The sporting integrity bit was down to the clubs and the SFA. So, was Doncaster actually being criticised for something not in his contract, i.e. fairness and 3rd Division, rather than finances and 1st Division as he put the case for? I also don't think it was his job to detail the sharing of the cash. So, if he gets the TV deals, then Celtic take it all, leaving other clubs with beans, is that his fault if other clubs then crash? Just to emphasise, I'm not saying Doncaster has done a good job. But is his remit finance, marketing or fair play? I don't think I have enough facts for a judgement. Possibly, a spokesman is needed to sell our game more (an Ally McCoist/Gordon Strachan-media friendly larger-than-life optimist). After all, last season was the most exciting in years. Then let the moneymen take a backseat, getting deals based on that media presence. At the moment, I don't find PR taken seriously at all.
  6. Depends if you get the mixing bowl or the salad plate. Have a look at Newham or Bradford to see how well it works with only blind optimism...but we get off the point. Let's stick to football.
  7. Hibs had a squad full of experienced players last season. How well did they do? Plus, it is unreasonable to count youngsters. If that was the case, Celtic would have a very inexperienced squad indeed!
  8. Our squad is full of players with SPL experience. All we can afford from here is journeymen who can't make it at Hibs or St Mirren. Is that going to make us stronger?
  9. Normally I would agree but this was coming a mile off. The fans refused to believe what everyone else was saying as the meeja was against them obviously. Rangers fans, and Dunfermline, can at least say they had no idea of the situation until it was well underway. Hearts should have known from a couple of months in.
  10. He was like Titus Bramble or Gary Caldwell. Very talented but not as much as he thought and could be a real bombscare. Alongside a Terry Butcher, he'd be great but he needs that strong defensive figure next to him.
  11. Not for me.
  12. The better youth dont want to stay. They would rather the bench at Bournemouth, Derby, Fulham etc, than competing for cups or Europe, as it brings in extra pounds.
  13. I'd much prefer a situation, as in some countries, where the majority of players (or even a significant minority) have to be from the country (which would include the rest of the UK and Ireland - the integration is just too deep). So, I voted for option 2 as an ideal but I doubt Barcelona and Chelsea will sign up to that ideal, so why should we be disadvantaged?
  14. Entire Hearts squad up for sale, with difficulties in paying the next wages. Bet Danny Wilson's glad he signed!
  15. But will Feruz even get a game in the next 2-3 years at Chelsea? Might staying at Celtic or going to a lesser club like WBA or Wigan got him more game time. Coming through at Chelski is no easy feat.
  16. Signing Scots would be great but the better youngsters are too busy challenging for Europe at Bournemouth and such stellar clubs. I just hope the likes of Allan recovers from his injury. He got a nasty splinter from sitting on that bench.
  17. We thought that about Meekings too.
  18. He would be ripe for the Shinnie role but dont think he is quite up to the standard
  19. I enjoyed him. But then, I enjoy David Brent. Nothing worse than a respectable manager, i.e. someone sitting in the dugout not saying boo to a goose. Let's have some fun instead. I love it when Lennon kicked that bottle when losing to ICT. Or when Strachan gets annoyed by a perfectly reasonable question. Or Big Jum McLean socking it to a hack. I also thought he had some good ideas. Yeah, on the face of it, he didn't do well this year in the SPL but that doesn't tell the whole story. He's brought in some youngsters, developed a few good players and won silverware. And but for injury time, would have been in the top six. All ifs and buts I know. There were some good ideas in amongst the bluster though. I just hope a bigger than life character isn't replaced by a subserviant lapdog.
  20. Why spend money on a player that didn't impress, rather than take a chance on a player who might impress?
  21. Same reason for leaving a potential title-challenging, potential cup-chasing, Euro qualified upper reaches of the league Motherwell for a mid-table League One (i.e. Division THREE!!!!) side. You think that's more about money than glory??? Crawley and Colchester are no more glamorous.
  22. Libya can be kicked out of the African Union (political) but can never be kicked out of Africa (geographical). Likewise, Alaska was once not part of the United States of America but has always been part of America. Renegade got it right. There's no political union called the British Isles. Ireland is located in the geographical area called the British Isles but the Falklands are not, despite being a British Territory.
  23. Exactly, it's geographical and not political. Now try explaining to people that the Great in Britain just means Big, and is there to distinguish us from Brittany (Little Britain). So many assume it is something to do with the Empire.
  24. It's only the 4th of June. Don't be too worried. I'm just amazed we've got such a good team this early on. Really excited for next year. It's already virtually as good as last season, more settled and with the transfer market not even open. Well done!
