Good. He's been very close a few times. I don't think he is off form, it's just been a few good saves and a touch of luck. To think Celtic could have signed Mckay and Stevie May instead of Bangura and Pukki. They'd have more goals and probably over a couple of million left over.

Some are confusing curiosity with negativity. I hope he does well and wins the title for ICT. I'm also prepared to reserve judgement until the end of the season. Nevertheless...... ...he doesn't have the potential of Hartley. Nor the track record of success of Sturrock or Calderwood. Nor even the history of Robbo. Yes, we can say why they might not have got it but what made Hughes stand out when no-one else could see it? Hartley has no experience. Levein might well have been too expensive etc etc. None of that say 'it's gotta be Yogi'. Comments about his license (especially being a trainer) go towards explaining things. I struggle to believe a fan saying they don't care why the decision was made. It certainly interest me.

I think Caley Mad in Berks is right, in that the Board went for what they thought was the best man. My point is, why did they think that? What made such an outsider leap to the front? I don't think anyone is talking ICT getting a top dollar manager. I can't see why it is so offensive to want to know what qualities the Board thought Yogi had above all others that applied. Why wouldn't anyone that is interested in the club want to know the manager's idea for the key to success that got him the job or his long-term plans over seemingly more exciting candidates?

There's no fishing here. Nope, not suggesting anyone ask this forum. And I'm sure they did do their homework - plenty of boards have done that and got it wrong mind you. But I'm still curious as to why such an outsider got the job. What was the criteria they employed that elevated Yogi to the top of the pile? You're not interested in that? I find it surprising.

That's a very poor reason. Hughes the Hibby would make the same move as Butcher. Going up (which I don't see Hibs as being) means success. If Hartley got a move to Manchester United on the basis of winning the league with ICT, that would be a great compliment. Employing someone because they are never going to be great but they might just stay, is a truly awful reason. I'd still really like to know the actual reason for going for Hughes. Not speculation (even if Renegade is quite probably along the right lines) but something tangible from a well connected source. What made the Board choose Hughes over a prospect like Hartley or a seasoned successful manager like, say, Calderwood or maybe Sturrock (and it doesn't really matter if you like them - I could understand why they would be chosen)? I struggle to believe either Hartley (a part-timer) or Calderwood (desperate to get back into it) would have made huge demands. So, just what was it? Oh, to be a fly on the wall.

I do remember the 'is Butcher the man for the job' thread, with someone saying along the lines of 'what if we're marooned at the bottom - best to sack him now'. This is the same with Hughes. I suspect he won't do well but he has to be given the chance to prove us wrong, in the same way Tel did with some. Out of the top six has to mean sacking. But that hasn't happened yet and may not. Give him a chance to fail or succeed. Top six is an absolute must though. We're going completely the wrong direction if we drop out. But let that happen before we judge a failure.

I would have expected at least 2, probably 3, maybe even 4, of the subs to have started. Disappointing team selection from Hughes.

So, best team when everyone is fit? Mine would be: Brill Raven Warren Meekings Shinnie Tansey Draper Doran Vincent Foran Mackay Yep, unfair on Tremarco, but best team means just that. Foran hasn't played left-mid for a while, but I'd give him the chance. Watkins especially and Williams may well be in there on form/injury but there's not that luxury of choosing more than 11. Ross as well is creative but who to drop for him? So what's your team*? * which doesn't mean criticise others without giving your selection first.

Interesting to hear Willie Miller saying that he's changed his mind about Aberdeen being the second best team in the league after today. And that's without Warren, Draper and Foran!

Aberdeen are going to have some strike force with Tony Watt, David Goodwillie and Adam Rooney all about to sign. Expect a press conference on Tuesday.

Not so sure he will drop back to the bench. Might mean Foran on the left or centre, with Tansey and Draper in the deeper role. But then, there isn't really a first team, just a first team squad. You need a bunch of players all competing for a slot.

Love to hear why he wants to come back. Seems he's a regualr down there. Can't believe it's the salary tempting him. I wonder if he just misses the place and has made a life choice?

I think Butcher was more bypass-midfield-and-play-the-long-ball first time around. He'll suit the later Butcher/Hughes style. I really do think he was a victim of the team's style, rather than being poor in himself. Something Stuart McCall thought at the time too. I've got high hopes.

I don't think it's to do with prejudices. They wanted to believe. Most will know nothing about accountancy. Same as with Hearts. Same as with ICT. How far are we off trouble? I've no idea. But I hope whoever is running the club is doing their best...but I couldn't guarantee it.

I could see them linking up well. The target man and the busy wee striker. It'd mean a change in formation but nothing wrong with that if it improves the team.
