  1. Soooooperb! The club might making a pigs ear of the Niculae transfer but at least they seem to be on to a winner here I'll be delighted if these guys sign deals, it would almost be as positive as a new signing in my eyes
  2. I'd love to know how they worked that out
  3. Harry Chibber

    Squad

that I'd love to see and to be fair to him his goals in preseason probably merit a first team start
  4. this all seems to be handled very poorly

    Squad

yeh don't think you're far off there, unless we sign some more players I expect that will be the line up but with maybe Wilson instead of McBain
  6. we still need to score goals and considering we have a completely different frontline it's a valid question. Some (Keegan) would argue attack is the best form of defence ... but would agree we definitely need a 6ft something centre half for the right side of our defence I'd still love to see Rossco & McGuire switching position
  7. I said abuse previously received I didn't mention anyone on this thread... previous abuse and I'll be surprised if you can say you haven't seen any... not to mention the booing at matches which contradicts your first point If someone has the right to slag off a player or doubt them I am also entitled to my opinion. Rory is a player I have backed from the start of his career because I can see something there, unfortunately I seem to be one of the few with this opinion. I don't see why your taking offence to me sticking up for Rory, I thought previously me and Scotty showed both sides to the arguement without getting tetchy and then you put your point across so I put a counter arguement..... is that not the way a forum works?? somebody has to be wrong about Rory but I think the guy deserves a chance I do have a rant on occasion and sometimes use this forum as a vent but I am always quick to apologise if Ive been out of line but on this occasion I'm not really sure why your having a go.
  8. agreed, get him straight in there and hope that he gets a boost from the confidence that has been shown in him
  9. Do you think it helps?? He's a young lad that has had to put up with dogs abuse on here since the start of his professional career by the people who should, more than anyone, want him to succeed. If he does have an excellent season I really couldn't blame him if he moved to another club and stuck 2 fingers up at our 'supporters'. More than Niculae did
  10. Was only jehsting... if I was Black I'd be doing the same I'd love to see Black on a 3 year contract but I imagine it would cost the club a lot of coin
  11. I wouldnt say so ..... Rory has made appearances in each of the last 4 seasons racking up 13 starts and 44 sub appearances. Zander has started 2 games and come on as a sub in 4 Vigurs has started 1 game and come on as a sub in 3 Kerr has made a single sub appearance Wood & Gillespie have yet to appear for the first team So Rory should be punished for being ahead of schedule???
  12. To be honest if I knew that my employers had made a massive profit I'd be pushing my union reps to squeeze as much out of them as possible, wouldn't you? Footballers are human too, we all want a slice of the pie. some would say they're treated like slaves :023:
  13. Does that also apply for Zander, Wood, Vigurs & Kerr?
  14. Dont think I would argue with that. As for Rory, I want him to do well, I REALLY DO !!! I want ANY player wearing an ICT strip to do well but he has to up his game somewhat. He has scored 5 goals in 44 games and that is not good enough for a striker. I will concede that many of those games were brief appearances from the subs bench so the total may look worse than it really is, but if we discard the sub appearances he has made 13 starts and in those games scored twice (V Gretna and V Ayr). [15% strike rate] His 3 goals from the subs bench were V Dunfermline (88mins after coming on in 76), V Motherwell (88 mins after coming on in 83), and V Dumbarton (72 mins after coming on in 67) so he can definitely do it from there too even on short appearances ... if his head is together. He has had a good pre-season so far and scored a few so lets just hope it has increased his confidence to the point were he can regularly hit the back of the net for the first team if selected. I would love to be sitting here this time next year saying that we were right to persevere with the lad and how well ALL our youngsters did in the 08/09 campaign. When I said a run of games previously I meant 5+ starts back to back and then if he hasn't produced the goods I'll concede that he has something to prove. But at the moment I think he is our brightest prospect at the club and the majority of our fans have done nothing but discourage the guy before he has even attempted to jump the first hurdle. He has scored goals at this level so he is already more experienced than half the forwards we currently have and he is one of the youngest
  15. Well in Rory don't take notice of the haters you have plenty of people that know you have what it takes!!!
  16. btw it's just that line I disagree with the rest is fair enough :023: had to work on a Saturday so needed to have a rant at something
  17. Although I am not convinced it will happen, that would be great Alex. I would say that this season is probably Rory's last chance to impress. The frustrating thing is that most of us know or acknowledge that he can play well as he has shown that in small bursts over the last few seasons but unfortunately he has flattered to deceive more times than he has impressed. As I said in another thread, perhaps some of thismay be because the youngsters lost focus last year and didnt try as hard as they could because they knew no matter what happened they were behind Niculae, Wyness, Bayne and even pre-injury Brewster in the pecking order. This year we dont have a recognised strike force so 100% effort and consistency may see one or more of them stake a claim for those starting spots. Hopefully this will focus them all into doing their very best and we will see some good work out of the likes of Rory as well as the others. I hope so. rubbish, I'm sick of the Rory bashing that goes on in this forum. It's embarrasing that one of our own receives such abuse (I know you have been PC with your post Scotty but plenty of others have consistently barrated him). Rory is a 22yr old player recognised on an international level with bags full potential and I'd love it.... I'd fecking love it if he showed exactly what he's capable of this season but to say that this is his last chance when he has never been given a run of games to prove himself is crazy. Scotty look at the situation we are currently in trying to find new forwards, even if Rory doesn't get his oppertunity this season he is still a very reliable squad player who has scored goals in the SPL I'd personally prefer to give Rory a chance than sign that dancing muppet Eliott...
  18. Come off it Alex, if anything Jackson was mentioned due to the clear lack of pace in our frontline I am all for our youth players making an impact on the squad (thus the avator) but IMO one of the most frustrating things about watching ICT last season was that we didn't have anyone who would get behind the opposing defenders and make them work. You ask any centre half and they'll tell you they prefer defending what's infront of them and hate being put onto the back foot. It also gives us the option of counter attack when you can hit teams on the break... it makes for exciting football I've never watched Wood play so couldn't tell you what he has in his locker but Barrowman, Rory & Rooney are all apparently big lads. So far I think the best combination from the strikers we have is Barrowman & Imrie
  19. agreed
  20. we still haven't bought anyone with pace upfront... Jackson from St J would be my number 1 target from the players I know within our budget but I would hope that our scouts have more options on the books
  21. I had the impression he was a pacey agile player (don't know where I got that from) but I'm encouraged by the feedback also waiting to hear back from the chesterfield website so will let you know what they thought of him
  22. yeh total pain in the @rse here's some of the quotes, good & bad:
  23. my bad, I'll post some quotes when I get a few more replies so far the feedback's been encouraging
  24. incase your interested.... Bury fan's point of view ... and yes I have nothing better to do on a Friday night :tic01:
