ICT V Celtic Post Match Thread
I thought we were set up superbly yesterday, Wilson almost had a free role beside Bayne and we countered whenever we got the chance. Fraser :003: :003: :003: :003: Made an excellent save from Miller at the start of the game and collected almost everything that came into the box. What a difference it was having a keeper that can kick the ball. Thought he could have got Miller's shot but the replays show he was unlucky. Tokely :003: :003: :003: :003: Was excellent for the majority of the game was given a hard time when McGeady came on the pitch though. Think he has had a hard time this season but is looking back to his best (shame it's taken the whole season) Hastings :003: :003: :003: :003: :003: Top, top performance. I don't think there have been many left backs better than him all season, he sent back anything that came his way and worked his *** off. Dods :003: :003: :003: :003: :003: Superb also (apart from his "challenge" on McGeady) made a couple of great tackles, was a machine! Munro :003: :003: :003: :003: Solid performance but never really looked comfortable when he had the ball at his feet and wasted possession on a couple of occasions. Duncan :003: :003: :003: :003: :003: Has he finally learnt how to pass?? Had a cracking performance in the centre, cleaned up everything in midfield and used possession well, there was one pass in particular near the start of the game, where he stunned the ball and it hovered 30 yrds straight to the feet of McBain. Beckham would have been proud of it. Black :003: :003: :003: :003: :003: It's a toss up between Black and Bayne for MOTM IMO. If he can cut out the stupid tackles he could be a great player for ICT, so much raw talent and his confidence is evident whenever he gets the ball. I dont think he would have looked uncomfortable in any team with that performance yesterday, he was everywhere on the pitch but looked shafted when he was brougt off. McBain :003: :003: :003: Don't think he was playing in his best position but worked as hard as ever. Shame he had to go off at half time Rankin :003: :003: :003: Not his best performance, lost the ball too easily at times but started the move for the goal. Wish he had tested Boruc more over the 90 mins. Wilson :003: :003: :003: :003: Wish could turn back time 5 years and bottle Bazza, he showed flashes of brilliance and was excellent in setting up Bayne's goal but looked absolutely shattered with half an hour still on the clock. Bayne :003: :003: :003: :003: :003: Immense... says it all really Subs Hart :003: :003: :003: Wish he had got more crosses into the box but would have been hard playing his first game since coming back from injury in that situation McSwegan :003: Let the oppertunity pass him by MacAllister :003: Did nothing More than deserved at least a reply... **** happens :019:

The Worst Cup Defeats
absolutely devastated at the time but have come to terms with it now, the players did us proud yesterday I have had to endure a slagging from a rake of Celtic fans today but more than anything they admitted how unlucky we were. It is almost as if we have earned respect from other teams for that performance and people are starting to take note that we can play good football and we are no longer a small club over achieving

Who's to blame..
one week your taking back what you have previously said about Christie and then you slate him again.... some people just don't learn :006: Scottish Cup allows 5 subs, we had only Hart as midfield cover due to injuries and Paatalinen being cup tied.

Graham Bayne
Since Black has his own thread I think it is only right Bayne got one... I though he was in a class of his own yesterday, he gave the perfect targetman performance. Held the ball up, ran his *** off and even managed a wee jink when he was out numbered by three Celtic players in the corner. I think it was by far the best performance I have seen from him in an ICT shirt, I doubted his ability at the start of the season, and to be fair, at that time he was not showing any real quality but this season he has come in to his own. If any player deserved to be in the winning side yesterday it was Bayne... keep it up big'n :025: :025: :025:

Ian Black
Fair play he was absolutely top drawer yesterday but still could have easily been sent off, if Christie can calm his temper he could be a real quality player for us.

Charlie comments on Rory McAllister
The exact same things were being said about Bayne 2 seasons ago :024: I agree with Caley100 (although I know you were being sarcastic) if MacAllister is going to ever make an impact on the side he needs to build his confidence, he has bagged plenty of goals in the reserves he just needs to transfer that to the first team. He might not have what it takes but he is not going to become a decent player if the supporters are already writing him off when he has only just started his career, remember he is just 21.

Who's to blame..
The fans!! We severely lacked the 12th man yesterday, even after going 1-0 ahead in the Scottish cup quarter final against currently the best team in Scotland we struggled to muster a CALEY CALEY CALEY It seems that most people would say that the substitution of Black was the turning point in the game (me included) but with Hart having to come on for McBain we were left only with the option of another Striker. The question is whether Black should have come off... he bossed the midfield all game but if his tackles were refereed by a different ref he could have easily walked and he was absolutely shattered which meant he was more likely to go into someone with a bad challenge. IMO it was a bad decision to take Black off but I can certainly see why CC did it. I can understand the frustration but you should be asking how the team managed to lead a game against the champions of the SPL for 88 minutes.. answer because CC and Parkie had the tactics spot on, the team were absolutely superb for the majority of the game yesterday and yet the only thing anyone seems to want to talk about is the last 3 minutes of madness.

Yo-Yo season
remember we also have to count our Scottish Cup run aswell... something that has been severly lacking over the last few years!! Could be a very memorable season :024:

Yo-Yo season
You really can't judge what position we are in at the moment because it isn't a true reflection when you look at our run of games. We now have a run of United (h) Killie (a) Dunf (h) Rangers (a) Falkirk (h) there is a bag full of points there if we play to our potential. I think top 6 is out of reach this season but isn't as far off as it looks just now.

Yes might be less revenue to start with but if we make a change and try to unveil a more exciting, diverse league with more teams, more managers points of views, tactics etc.. and more player competing on a similar level then I would hope that more people would come to watch and greater sponsorship deals would be offered. Also with less games in a season I guarantee the attendance s will go up due to cheaper season tickets. More talent would be on offer and teams would actually try and play football with less fear of falling into the relegation battle. A play off situation at the end of the season for those in the relegation positions. Something needs to be done because to be honest Scottish Football has been stale for a long time!

Since we have so many...
... armchair managers (me included), put your money where your mouth is and name the team you would play against Cellic this weekend?? Fraser Tokely Dods Munro Hastings Duncan Wilson Black McBain Rankin Bayne With Wilson and Rankin playing almost as second strikers, Bayne will have to work his erse off but he's used to that anyway :021:

Motherwell V ICT - matchday thread
Seems that a lot of posters on this site wait until they have something to moan about before they post on the site I'm all for people being constructive with their criticism but it's the posters that start asking for CC's job after 1 bad result that get me pi55ed

Three league defeats in a row - time for change?
it has been said on other threads that CC tried to bring someone in but couldn't find a player that would improve the squad ... how many other teams in the SPL would kill for a striker that could win you a game???
-
Three league defeats in a row - time for change?
wondered how long it would take... I think today's result is the only one worth questioning but even then sounded as though we were unlucky in the second half and CC made 3 subs, which shows he will try and ring the changes. I'd expect to see Black replacing Duncan in the next match, he has come on the last 3 matches and I think he has served his time on the sidelines... McSwegan for MacAllister might also be considered
