  1. Mine is Craig Brewster with Barry Wilson as No 2 what about John Collins, is he doing anything ??? i think Barry would make a good assisstant...he has a great football brain. .
  2. Don Cowie's 'slow' start has been dragging on a bit now, should he be given an automatic start? i would start Barry on saturday in right midfield. someone said barry played really well in a reserve game the other week...since then i have seen him play against hearts and morton and he is unfortunately not up to it anymore...i think rather than taking a step backwards we need to look to our younger lads now. the likes of vigurs and duff these are the guys we need on longer contracts otherwise we'll lose them to other clubs.
  3. i was very impressed. it was expensive but everything is now and actually was worth it. i had a great sandwich lunch there too. very atmospheric out on the field.
  4. I think Bush has posted some very good posts in this topic as it is apparent that no matter what brewster does, some fans want him out regardless. A pont that has been missed, may have been raised in other threads, is that this season has seen the biggest change/turnover in our squad since Pele took over when we were in the third division. This is undoubtedly having an impact as these players get to know each other. At long last however, we are also starting to produce youngsters capable of playing in the SPL which is the future for us. When playing young players, you will get inconsistent performances and allowances have to be made for this although not by some on this forum it appears. Finally, remember football is a results business. If we played wonderful attacking football but lost every game or got relegated, then I would not be happy. The priority has to be results with hopefully the good football follwoing on after that. For those who say they would rather watch entertaining football and never mind the results, time to come into the real world. spot on.
  5. In terms of the SPL, Rankin is clustered in the large group of players all very capable on their day, but all very similar in ability. He was a good player in our squad, but as has been shown at Hibs, he is an average player. i would have to agree that Rankin is average, he isn't a bad player but not great either. we have better players than Ranks still here at the club in Black and Cowie and after a few more games and experience Vigurs. Rankin is average.
  6. after last nights game Cowie has to be dropped, obviously with baby been born his head is going to be elsewhere and that tells on the pitch. team for sat. Fraser Tokely Duf Munro Hastings Imirie Black Vigurs McBain Rooney Wood
  7. was at the game last night, first half we were pretty poor, morton in fact looked the better team. second half started off the same until brew made a change and Vigurs came on...Vigurs's class no doubt changed the game in caley's favour, between Vigurs and Imirie was the reason we managed to win that game. well done to them both, as for the rest of the team only Blackie, Rooney and Wood get pass marks. Cowie unfortunately is a shodow of himself last season. no point mentioning any other players as they were pretty poor. going to need to raise our game a whole lot more if we want success in any campaign we're involved in. Imirie MOM Vigurs in a class of his own when he came on.
  8. i think Esson gets the cup games doesn't he?
  9. i just say that coz reliable source said he was very tired due to working his balls off on sat and reason for been subbed.
  10. This is what i think it might be: Esson Proctor Duff Munro Hastings Cowie Duncan/Black Vigurs McBain Rooney Wood Black to be rested possibly for the weekend? 2-0 caley. Wood, Cowie
  11. yes that would prob be my choice too.

    Imrie Hype

Imrie does a lot of tracking back, tackling and has upper-body strength - all attributes that Zander lacks at the moment. This is a shame, because Zander can definitely beat a man and put a decent cross into the box, areas where Dougie is inconsistent at best. I suppose it comes down to Brewster's preference for graft over craft. Sometimes i can see his point, but now it's gone too far. With Don Cowie out of sorts, we don't seem to have a single creative midfielder or wide man. Has it really reached the stage where we don't have a player who can provide better set-piece deliveries than Dougie Imrie? Vigurs?
  13. Yesterday was the worst I'd seen in a long time, not who he brought on but who he didn't take off. Barrowman shouldn't have started as he continues to prove that he isn't up to starting 11 quality in the SPL and the same goes for Imrie. Black coming off was just the worst thing that Brewster could do, and in that moment of madness, we just threw away every chance of a come back (who came on did a really good job and gave the team some venom but with Black still on the pitch with Vigurs, Wood and Wilson could have been made it completely different)

    Imrie Hype

I meant in SPL terms. sorry my apologies. i agree i think zander could give us a different dimension down that wing. also i think vigurs has done well in that position but he's a centre midfielder not a winger so really hope zander gets a chance to prove himself.
  15. i think we have players that aren't SPL level but i think everyone deserves a chance so i wouldn't get rid of anyone at this moment in time if i was in the position to do so....end of the season if nothing changes for these players then yes but not now. the jury is out though on a few of our players.

    Imrie Hype

i know i've made it clear that I dont really see what some people see in dougie but i do hope he turns out to be good player one day. i wouldnt say he's an apprentice though...he is in his third - fourth season of senior football.
  17. yeah i think Barrowman needs to get his fingure out. he cant blame the service because he doesn't get himself in to good positions and when he does he has a first touch like a brick wall. you mentioned that imirie put the effort in....thats not enough every player should put in 110%, thats what they get paid for, effort should come without asking...what we need is a quality performance with effort...any person off the street could go on and give a great effort but that doesnt make them a footballer. we need players to perform not just put in an effort. im not disagreeing with you i just feel we let players off for lack of quality just because they put in the effort that every professional footballer should do regardless.

I agree with Caley D - this is no place for a silly little squabble. But before I go I feel I have to let you know that it was you, CaleyP, who started the insults by implying I did not know the meaning of the word "legend". At the end of the day you don't like Imrie, I do. Nothing to get overexcited about. well technically you said "i haven't taken to you" in your first comment, which came out of the blue because i was just agreeing with the comment made before mine. it was just my opinion on Imirie. your correct though nothing to get overexcited about. im not on here to argue with fellow fans, banter yes. i just found it odd that you decided to comment on my opinion when the person that started this thread shared the same opinion. anyway i hope you are right and dougie proves me to be wrong.

Yawn, ..........................the one thing you're right about is that you certainly aren't my son. From an entirely different gene pool I fear. Now, go to bed. wow you have a problem mate...i have my opinion you have yours. dont insult me personally when you dont even know me...you asked me a qustion i answered it.

    Imrie Hype

I'm different - I think he's a legend. (On the other hand - I haven't taken to you) good for you...do you know the meaning of legend...clearly not. Probably better than you do son ....... there's the traditional meaning and also the meaning which has come into modern usage. Come on, see if you can guess which one I'm using. son...well dad...doesn't really matter which one your using because he certainly isn't one. he isn't someone to be admired for his football ability and i dont think he is a myth of any kind and i dont think there is a unverifiable story surrounding the player of Dougie imirie.

    Imrie Hype

im the same i just can't see what others see in Imirie. to me he just doesn't look good enough to be playing in the SPL. i think he makes a good first division player but not enough quality there to play for a SPL club.
  23. yeah i think your right, tokes just isn't giving us anything at the moment and he isn't giving any of the strikers a chance with those long high balls, however, saying that barrowman is very light weight, of the pace, bad first touch...hearts defence would have been loving marking barrowman...he gave us absolutely nothing as did imirie. looks like these division players we bought might actually just be division players and no more. we need more ball players on the park, players that play the ball on the ground. now i know why brew had barrowman and imirie on the bench the last couple of weeks. on the upside good to see munro back.
  24. Imirie shouldnt be anywhere near that starting 11. disappointing.
