thats good news then...well hopefully he hasn't burnt himself out for sat due to the res game. thats good to hear, but as boon says lets hope he has enough energy for sat if he is to start. whether he plays or not thats still good news.

celtic are the loudest no question about it.

im not meaning to be cheeky but do you really think wilson will last the hour..he hasnt really played much first team football this season and seems to have lost quite a bit of pace. im not disagreeing with him starting but i reckon a half is all you would get out him...
-
i think Esson should possibly be given a chance, however, if this happens Ike will lose his confidence and what might make it worse is....if Esson plays and has an awful game you know what Brew will do and that is drop him straight away and then we're left with two keepers that have no confidence....ahhh the joys of football.

5 defenders??? is that not asking for trouble considering our defenders are most prone to making mastakes? actually i apologise....McBain doesnt really count as one of our mistake prone defenders. My reasoning for 5 is that the midfield will be missed out anyway. yeah i see your point. unfortunately thats our downfall...our best players are our midfielders and to often our defenders resort to school boy punts up the park to usually noone. i think our defenders need to learn to keep the ball on the deck, otherwise we're never going to keep possession.

That is a remarkably strange post... Cheers Don. You're voicing pretty much what I suspected. Was interested though, because as far as I remember, Zander got first tem experience before Vigurs and has been our "next big thing" for at least a season now, but Vigurs seems to have overtaken him in the pecking order. Possibly less competition in Vigurs preferred area of midfield, or has Vigurs simply developed more quickly. yeah i would say vigurs has overtaken him but that might be down the fact that vigurs is physically a lot stronger than zander but once zander gets physically stronger which he will do, he'll be in with a shout. you cant compare vigurs and zander though because they are different players with different footballing styles. although iain is being played on the wing iain is a centre midfielder and zander is an out and out winger. i would like to see zander givin his chance this season but i wouldnt compare iain and zander for the above reasons.

yeah i think we can both agree that we both got caught up in the moment...its good craic though. i think he'll change your mind...he may not be there yet but he does have something else that no other caley player has plus he's better place in the middle rather than the wing, i've played against some good players and i mean good players but he is in a different league when he is on his game...thats why i have so much faith in him....coz it was like chasing shadows when i was up against him...and no player has ever out classed me so much like he did. yeah does sound a bit better...

Fraser Tokely/Proctor Duff Munro Hastings Cowie/McBain Black Duncan Vigurs Imirie Rooney

you clearly feel strongly about this, i think vigurs will change your mind though...trust me he is a far better player than imirie and reckon by the end of the season you will think so too. but for moment you have your opinion and im not going to criticise your opinion anymore as i think its unfair to do so. but i do feel you maybe went the wrong way about the youngsters with this thread. im sure you can agree you could have worded some comments differently.

both have just come back to training this week so i dont think that they have fully recovered yet. but once they have i would definitely get the two back in there. proc right back and duncan usual position. i think tokely needs competition to perform to his best. I was at the St Mirren game. I commented at half time that Vigurs and Wood should come off for Imrie and Barrowman. Vigurs allowed St Mirren to have a huge space to them selves. Wood didn?t chase after the ball. When he had it, he didn?t always know what to do it. Yes he had one reasonable shot at goal; it was too close to the keeper to stand a chance. If he had looked in front to his left, he would have found a person with a better chance than himself (I believe it was Rooney). Rooney had a really good chance but hit the upright. Wood picked up the rebound and was hopelessly lost as to what to do with it. He even fell over. Giving Wood man-of-the-match was a complete joke. I was not overly impressed with Duff. The goals St Mirren scored were rather soft give-aways. We miss Munro. I have been impressed with Black this season. His tackling and passing of the ball has been really good. What has happened to Cowie. He doesn?t seem to be playing like he did last season. I was impressed with Rooney. He puts a lot into the game. He always runs after the ball. Rooney and Barrowman work well together. It was there effort that led to Dougie Imrie?s goal against Falkirk. I just can?t imagine Wood bothering to put that kind of effort into the game. I say Imrie, Barrowman in. Our best attack is Rooney Barrowman and Imrie. We would also benefit from Duncan and Proctor being available (the sooner the better). i'd always play vigurs over imirie...vigurs is stronger, faster, a better passer of the ball, better football brain, has a lot more skill and basically is a far more better player. if imirie is to play it shouldnt be to replace vigurs thats for sure. once vigurs gets his run of games and settles in he'll control the midfiled just like he did in the reserves so easily...i watched vigurs play celtic reserves and vigurs had jarrikson(sorry not sure of the spelling) in his back pocket. this is a guy that was at chelsea and played for czech republic....still a better qulality of any player we have unfortunately. yes the level is better first team but once vigurs gets settled and confident playing first team and realises he's one of the better players in the team he'll excel. so imirie in yes but not for vigurs.

he's from aberdeen, well i think he is, he played for cove rangers before going to caley's youth system.

im not blaming the fans but a footballer does sense how the crowd is feeling...when there is no atmosphere it makes a huge difference to a player...trust me. there is nothing worse than playing in front of a crowd that has no life to it. i think what fans shouldnt do is assume how player feels when they are in front of a crowd...unless you have been in that position you have no idea. talking from experience its not nice if you have a hostile home crowd. these people are meant to be supporting you not ripping you and your team mates to pieces. all im saying is maybe dont be so quick to blame the players..after all they are only human.
-
just so its clear 'tokelyisvictorious' you dont want any of our young players who have consistantly played well anywhere near the first team....however, you think being a senior player excuses them from being poor every week(i.e Imirie, Barrowman, maguire and tokely at times)...coz they have been....where is your logic here?? so your happy to play senior players week in week out even if they dont perform? so what you are saying is, please dont play the young ones because i'd rather see our under-performing older players play?! im intrigued...where is the logic? im wondering if you can explain why you think this...dont just say it...explain it. maybe you can change my mind to why i think they should keep the young guys in the starting line up. also what is your hate towards vigurs all about...do you not realise he has been excellent every game he's played for the first team bar the st mirren game where he played ok...??? were you not at the falkirk and arbroath games to see this??
-
second all that...couldnt agree more....spot on.
-
yeah i think so too. brew now has a reason to put munro back in there after sats performance.
-
i now think its going to be tuff for Barrowman to get a run...i know that Brew absolutely loves Wood and he's certainly not going to drop Rooney. so i think he's gonna find himself on the bench for a few more weeks unless the two strikers in favour at the moment go seriously down hill. i think all three strikers have to prove themself at this level...at this moment in time none of them have really had enough games to do so, so its a bit premature to say otherwise.
-
i reckon granty would have started had he been fit, i hope he is fit enough to be in next week with duff. which team would you play next week?
-
i agree i think that we're going to get more away points than home...but why is this...why is it the team dont like playing at home...coz im lucky enough to get to both away and home games and i have to say i see two different teams. away....they seem confident and full of life...why is this??? home....im suprised if i see a smile on one of the players face....maybe....are the fans to blame....do the home support get behind their team...is lack of atmosphere the problem....why are they so different at home???
-
well yeah i agree with that if brew plays a 4-5-1, however, brew was bigging up Wood in a post match interview so i cant see him dropping him.

Anyone at the game yesterday could see it was not the young players who were the problem.Where we were let down was with some of our more experienced players. Ross could not possibly have played a worse game for the club , If Procter is fit he must start next saturday. Roy was totally ineffective in the middle and how many more times is Michael going to get caught in no mans land . yeah i completely agree, it wasnt the younsters at all, i think procs and duncan should replace two of the more senior players once they are fit. i would keep vigurs, wood and duff in the line up for next week.

how i thought they rated today Fraser - 5 - didnt have much to do but when we needed him i think he could have done better. Tokely - 5 - to many misplaced passes today...not the tokely we like to see Mcguire - 5 - just seems to hesitate to much...thus leading to the middens first goal Duff - 6 - not his best game so far but still put in a solid performance Vigurs - 6 - again not his best performance but played the ball on the deck and played some nice passes to put wood and rooney through on goal a few times McBain - 5 - worked hard as usual but didnt get on the ball enough Black - 7 - worked his balls off and again good passing but unfortunately still cant find a forward pass...lacks vision to see a through ball to the strikers at the moment Cowie - 5 - just wasn't in the game today whatsoever...need more from him as he's such an important player Rooney - 8 - worked hard, made lots of runs, unlucky with his great strike that hit the bar, well converted penalty Wood - 7 - again worked very hard, faught for everything. just needs a little composure in front of goal subs Imirie - 3 - didnt really have much of the ball, lost to many times when he did have. put in one good cross Wilson - 3 - not much to say, didnt really get into the game Barrowman - 3 - again didnt get into the game

by the way, i think that the cost of buying the best players from highland league and neighbours would be much higher than the costs of running our youth team. But it is refreshing to see some new ideas.
