    4-4-2

why do people insist on playing a 4-4-2....we clearly dont play well using this formation, you cant just say play 4-4-2 at home if we suck at it which we do. we haven't won a game using this formation. i for one am fed up with people going on about this, for f***k sake changing to this formation won't magically turn us into an amazing brazilian attacking team. stick to what has worked for us and that's five accross the middle with cowie and imrie supporting and vigurs and black pulling the strings. i know a lot of people will disagree with me but the evidence so far shows that we suit the 4-5-1 much better.
  2. You're right about this - Vigurs is one of our better midfielders even though he's one of our youngest, am I the only one who thinks Black and Cowie are better when Vigurs is in the team? And Wood is our best forward at holding up the ball and bringing the midfielders into the match, admittedly he's not an out-and-out goalscorer but not many 'target men' are. What does worry me is, if we aren't going to play these young guys, we may lose them. I think Woods and Vigurs contracts are up at the end of the season. I'd expect Black and Cowie to go, and given the form we're in just now I imagine that the quality of players we need will be not find ICT to be an attractive proposition. HELP hit the nail on the head there roby. if vigurs was to go as well we would have no quality left whatsoever.
  3. yeah i would like to see that team....i dont want to see that lazy git barrowman back in the team, he's useless. get vigurs back in there, they clearly missed him against midden. cowie obviously not interested anymore so no point playing him. i would like to see wilson and rooney up front, i think that could work.
  4. i voted john collins, but my second choice would be craig brown. bring in someone new...not someone who has been at the club already as that is just asking for pressure and lots of the same trouble we have already...look what happened with newcastle and keegan...bad idea.
  5. a few suprises today: first changing from a 4-5-1 (that has worked away from home) to a 4-4-2. why? starting barrowman. why? leaving out one of our best players..vigurs. why? putting on two player (roy and rory) who have not played in ages. why? brewster ict manager. WHY? im fed up with this ****. how bad is it going to get when we have no blackie, cowie etc after january?
  6. i just dont see him making it in the spl, not a great signing so far.
  7. brew would never play three at the back from the beginning, plus i doubt he will start wilson after not offering him another 6months. vigurs has to play as well, he is our best player away from home along with black. Esson Proctor Duff Munro Hasting Cowie Black Duncan Vigurs Imrie Rooney
  8. i think its pretty obvious that blackie is wanting to move on, i dont really blame him the way brew is dragging the club down. so everyone should prepare themselves to lose black, cowie and you never know who else. where are ict going to be after the january window...f**ked?
  9. I have to agree IN PART, the board WILL have realised their mistake by now, BLACKIE< COWIE ....WILL....go in January and NOT at the end of the season, prospective clubs WILL put their offers in to take them away in January, and because we have F***** up YET again (Bennet), we will have to sell for a fraction of their worth, so where does this leave us then, dont tell me, I already know,oh and if it is not the DOF's fault then who's is it, he deals with the contracts, and if his strings are being pulled or reigned in, then dont we have a right to know.? Gillian I hope you are wrong about them both going in Jan, but I have a horrible feeling you may be right , if this does happen it will be a disaster for the club, losing our 2 biggest assest for next to nothing Ian knocked back contract offer today and 4 clubs interested in signing. do you know what teams?
  10. i think tokely got a two match ban so is unavailable this sat, so we he won't be back.
  11. i was one who wasnt to sure whether or not we should extend his contract but i actually do think its a big mistake not offering him a another six months, i thought he had a lot to offer more than just on the pitch.
  12. with out a doubt we missed tokes, he does bring that extra i think.
  13. If, and I stress if, he should have been tracking / did track Conway back then surely under some pressure from an ICT player he wouldn't have been able to so easily turn and score as he did? Saw that to, pretty sure it was directed at Protor for letting Conway turn on him so easily. As for whether Vigurs should have been tracking, yes he probably should have. May have come to the same conclusion but then again it might not have, we'll never know. Just worries me how much the players get p*ssed of with each other after losing a goal just now. Does nothing for the confidence getting a right going at by your team mate... I remember the days when a goal let in was the catalyst for the players to get that CMON! LETS GET THIS BACK! attitude. Now its a blame game! i noticed that both vigurs and black were within tracking distance of conway...i think they were passing him on to proctor..whether that was the correct thing to do i dont know, but i think vigurs was shouting at proc for letting conway turn him so easy. i think all three players mentioned could have done more to prevent the goal.
  14. maybe...but can we afford to give him a chance, how long will we have to wait before he comes good, he's had 9 games to show something without success. i dont think we have the luxury of time, before we know it we could find ourselves back down in the first division, hamilton are no gretna, we are not safe this season at all im sorry to say. i say stick with wood and rooney, no point sticking with someone who is behind two of our strikers when it comes to talent and ability and goals.
  15. yes but how many of them has he been played in the right system? I would agree I like the look of Rooney more, just saying think its a bit early to give up on Barrowman well we have played barrowman in both a 442 and 451 formation with no success. what would be the right system for barrowman, is finding the right sysytem just for barrowman worth putting the rest of the team in many different/wrong positions worth it so we can accomadate a over rated striker? i hope it's premature on my part, however, i just haven't seen much, not even glimpes to give me hope.

    Rooney

it has to be rooney and wood.
  17. its not just yesterday though...he has started 9 games so he has more of a chance than rooney and he has done a lot more already than what barro has. its obvious he is struggling with the level of the spl...killie must of seen that and thats why he didnt last there.
  18. Completely agree about Barrowman. The one time we got a ball into the box that he would have liked was the one from Cowie to Rooney. He is a penalty box predator. He isn't going to score for 30 yards and needs balls into the box for him to attack. We gave him nothing yesterday. Aye you're right. He was mince against Aberdeen in the first game of the season when we played to his strengths and he has had some other good performances since then. He isn't getting the right service because of the way we play. Hopeless, aimless long balls for an hour are going to get him nowhere. Or do you think he should have been doing better when being man marked by two 6 ft plus defenders? every striker in the league plays against the same defenders so the whole six foot plus excuse doesnt stick, its a mans game so he has to deal with it, rig i usually agree with most of what you say but i just dont think he has what it takes to play in the spl, i think he would possibly struggle in the first. he did ok against aberdeen but he has started 8 or 9 games this season so 1 performance isn't really a strong case.
  19. you must be barrowmans mate to defend him...he is useless whatever quality of ball he gets into him and whatever formation is used.

    Rooney

i played against players that were a good five inches taller than me(derek townsley) at times and it didnt stop me from winning the ball in the air, bringing it down out of the air...im sorry barrowman is a poor excuse of a striker...you back with all your might and stick your fecking arse into the defender and bring the ball down, not easy but any pro should be able to do it....barrowman is useless mate, playing against 6'4" defenders shouldn't make a difference...he is light weight. im fed up of people defending this guy, there's always an excuse for his lack of talent. barrowman doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentnce as vigurs and imrie who are quality players. rooney number one choice followed by wood then rory.
  21. agree with all that. our midfield is letting us down badly too.too many players of a similar style and some played out of position for good measure. crossing and set plays are woefull as is service to strikers.if cowie wont sign i say get him straight to f**K because we wont miss him anyway. disagree with your comments about the midfield....they have been getting nothing but absolute praise the whole season from the pundits. must be the same pundits who say the tcs is such a hard place to come to and that we're well organised and hard to break down every week. they must be right ok fair point....but i do think our midfield in my opinion are the most consistantly performing players and the most talented and have performed well so far this season. i dont think any of our midfielders are bad, they're all good players and each capable of putting on a great performance.its just they're not showing it week in week out as a unit and not providing the service required by the strikers.need a good quality midfielder in jan to play alongside black well i think we're going to need a few as we're going to lose a few i think and i think we could potentially lose black, cowie and vigurs. all of them are out of contract and none of them have accepted the deals offered to them so far.
  22. Niculae, who most would agree was a cut above, couldn't do it all on his own. He was also guilty of missing sitters, but then he was touted as the great white hope and had a national call-up in his sights so was clearly trying too hard at times. For me the damning fact is still that a striker like Brew - **** his badges, tactics, subs, and the rest - that the guy as a *coach* cannot instruct or inspire the strikers he's brought in, to score goals. He can't even, after four months, get Barrowman to time his jumps so that he connects with the bloody ball. I dont think its any coincidence that Marius's best spell at the club was when playing in the same team as Rankin, I still think letting Rankin go was a big mistake and we havent got anyone that can give the quality of service to strikers that he did, Barry aside rankin wanted to go to hibs, i dont think we would of hung onto him if we wanted too. rankin is a good player but not better than what we have in black, cowie and vigurs, all possibly better players.
  23. we're not really scoring goals so an experienced striker is required and we are leaking goals at the back so an experienced CB with presence is also very much needed...equally as important that we get both.
  24. agree with all that. our midfield is letting us down badly too.too many players of a similar style and some played out of position for good measure. crossing and set plays are woefull as is service to strikers.if cowie wont sign i say get him straight to f**K because we wont miss him anyway. disagree with your comments about the midfield....they have been getting nothing but absolute praise the whole season from the pundits. must be the same pundits who say the tcs is such a hard place to come to and that we're well organised and hard to break down every week. they must be right ok fair point....but i do think our midfield in my opinion are the most consistantly performing players and the most talented and have performed well so far this season.
