Second Division football....but not to worry, our Board are working on that and we might just manage to grant him a season back there before his contract expires.

Disagree, yes not saying to offer long term contracts to all the new signings, but you also have to calculate who is likely to bring us income in the coming years through transfer fees regardless what division we are in, something we have been to slow to realise with the likes of Black, Cowie. Not sure what wage Pavel is on but we have a sqaud of 27 to 28, worth getting rid of a few that are not up to it to keep a player that seems to have it. Lets face it after 6 or so games last season we knew then that Cowie was an asset and should have said then lets give him a long term contract. After 3-4 games most of us seem to be the same opinion of Pavel so lets get him tied up as if not somebody else will.
  3. While I like the look of Rooney failing to see why all think he is the answer to all our problems up front, Butcher has seen him and Barrowman in training this week and picked Barrowman, why? TB said that a team is only as good as their senior players. Probably thinks that, especially against Celtic and being so low in the table, that experience is what's needed. Hence the dropping of Vigurs. Personally, I'd have Vigurs in for Proctor and Rooney in for Barrowman as, experienced or not, they're just better players. While I do think that Rooney is possibly a better player than Barrowman I am not convinced he is
  4. Yes understand where you are coming from but also there are many in our squad that we are not sure about, in this I would include Morias, Gattheusi, Kerr (if signed), Foran and Eric. Hopefully they will all come good but lets be honest at present are unknown quantities.
  5. While I do think we can stay up I dont think we can lay claim to be " Certainly better than the Accies, easily equal to the Saints and possibly even better than Falkirk" as points make prizes and until we have more points than these sides, look through the Falkirk side for example, very experienced. If we are going to survive this it will be down to the ICT fighting mentality rather than having a superior squad.

Yes agreed and while a lot have also have been calling for Rooney while I agree he has potential he still needs to prove himself, I think Butcher is right in thinking Rooney and Barrowman are on a level playing field to begin with , one thing I totally disagree with is that IMRE is a striker I dont think he has the composure for that, playingjust behind the strikers yes but not as our goal threat.

He was awful today, vast majority of mistakes and seemed to want t blame everyone else. I would assume that TerryandJune will make mistakes as they get to know the chaps, but can only hope that Barrowload only gets better of gets out. I think you are been harsh on the lad, I thought he did ok in the first half and lets be honest there wasnt much difference between him and samaras who cost a few million. I think that if we stop expecting a roy of the rovers type of perforamce from our stikers and realise that leading the line is not an easy task the better
  8. What a stupid comment
  9. To be fair at the start of the season black was playing his best ever football with Brewsters team, then things went pear shaped for whatever reason
  10. Now that is positive thinking, the lad give it his all today and I respect him for that, but the daddy I think not and I for one will be happy to have back a regular at left back
  11. thats just blinkered , blacks tackle was atrocious and to imply Mcdonald was acting shows that you either didnt see the incident or are in denial . The way McAnus tackles is of no concern to me , my concern was that if we had someone sent off we could easily have lost the game . Ok and if Zadi had scored a fifty yarder we could have won it, didnt happen just like blacks red card, so lets enjoy a huge improvement
  12. Ok you dont like Blackie point made, anything positive to say about taking a point from the SPL Champions Aberdeen showed how good the SPL champions are if you have a go at them , we did well to get a point but I honestly think they were there for the taking today , half of them were blowing out their erse after 30 mins due to the 2 hours of football they played on a ploughed field in midweek . I dont dislike Black but I do not like to see assaults like the one that eventually got him booked , IMHO Black could / should have been sent off today and cost us a point . Please go and p!ss on someone else's bonfire, just for a bit, and let everyone else bask for a while. Please? How am I p1ssing on your bonfire ? I stated we did well to take a point . Basking in the "glory" of a home draw !!! Deary me , is this what we've come to ? Considering Celtics budget compared to ours and our home form over the last period, yes I am basking in it, but more importantly I am basking in the teams desire and commitment today

I would agree with this 100%, in my opinion can be even better than DD, for once the board should be smart, GET HIM ON A LONG TERM CONTRACT.
  15. Far to early to say. Lets hope he is but I think we will have to look to players like Foran with a bit more experience at this time
  16. Agree it wasnt the best of games but come on the guy has had 3-4 days to work on the team and then is told Cowie is not available. Our first clean sheet for a long time and a point against Celtic and most importantly the players looked like they believed in themselves, is that not enough
  17. Did he get booked? I know early on in the game I thought he might be sailing to close to the wind
  18. To me one of the biggest desisions Butcher made today was to play Black, like i said on another thread he wasnt outstanding but did enough to prove he was committed to the cause. For the last couple of weeks if not starting he should at least have come on in games but Brewsters ego or those instructing him wouldnt allow it. Butcher proved today he will play whoever he thinks can do the best job for the team without anyone telling him otherwise.
  19. Good shout Matt But it was harnessed - just look at Blackie :thumb04: While Blackie wasnt outstanding today he showed he will still fight for the cause, mind you a lot of us have known he would for weeks , I am just happy we have a manager that will stand up and pick the team he wants.
  20. The frightening thought for me is if we had managed to get even a point against Hamilton the change would not have been made. Its been to late in coming but not to late for us to stay up. Hopefully the board will now see they have made massive mistakes this season and while Butcher might well get them out of jail they have to learn from this.
  21. I think Butcher called this right, if Cowie is going for a medical to his new employers tomorrow do you think he would have been commited in the tackle as the others were today, I doubt it
  22. If we show the same fight and passion we did today we will stay up fighting not go down fighting
  23. IHE you might have a few kidded but not me, I know you have brewster down there in your front room having a few drams using his expert opinion telling you when subs should be used
  24. Great performance, the team had some fight about them. Considering we had a few injury problems it was brill. Zadi what can I say, the lad gave his all, had some great moments and some not so great but fair play he gave his all. Imre deserved MOM , Barrowman looked like he was interested, cant comment on Proctor as didnt really notice he was on the park. Foran looks like he is a player as does Eric. The signs are good.
