  1. Defended too deep in the first half and left Billy totally isolated up top. Despite having Doran and Watkins on the pitch they offered little width and werent working in tandem. Misplaced passes, poorly timed runs etc. 2nd half saw us push forward a bit more but we never created any clear cut chances. Players like Moshni were so poor on the ball but were given all the time in the world to move the ball, we simply didnt press enough or want it enough. Sevco were not much better but came away with win and on the basis of play probably deserved it. Though Crawford Allan was very poor as ref. Some terrible challenges that warranted further punishment went unchecked and a lack of flow to the game wasnt helped by his picky approach towards itty bitty fouls. Only player that really shone for me was Liam Polworth. Im not his biggest fan but I thought bar one moment in the first half he moved the ball about really well throughout the game and was one of few who seemed to have a real go. Sevco fans were pretty vile as well but nothing new there, nothing better than getting started on the way out of a ground. Need to step our game back up at the weekend. St J's at home and Aberdeen away are games against teams who will competing for top 6 and Europe. Both these games are vital 6 pointers.
  2. We can't afford Gow? Apologies if I've fallen behind in our search for a striker.
  3. Its a tough one but id have to go with Billy, his finishing is better than Rooney and while he may not be the biggest or the strongest his quality in and around the penalty area is top notch. He scores better goals than Rooney ever did, I raise the volley in the 3-3 game against County and his pile driver at tynecastle last year. Rooney was a good finisher but I dont remember him scoring such a wide variety of goals as Billy does. Two different strikers yes but for shear quality on show at their best I'd have to go with Billy.
  4. Even though no one came in on deadline day it's not the end of our search. There's still plenty free agents kicking about, including the lad training with us and on the back of deadline day more players would have been released by clubs in order to move. Still reckon we will get someone in if we can.
  5. If you think he is a baller i hope we don't sign him!!!! Just remember Iain I've seen you play football... Aye and i've seen you play aswell. Ive seen you both play and neither one of you have anything on the mighty Doug ...anyhoo back on topic. I would ideally like us to bring in at least one more striker, there are still a few free agents out there so even if we have nobody in by tonight we will still have a few options. Lots of players will get released by clubs today ahead of looking for another move so we may even get a few fresh opportunities.
  6. McKay was involved earlier in the move, it was Shinnie that slipped Doran in on goal, great ball, great goal. My error
  7. Last game of last season. Christie and Tansey both scored 2nd half goals in the 2-0 win over St J's
  8. We were slow starters in this one but its a real sign of confidence that we kept plugging away and got our result and with 2 cracking goals. Was a bit anxious when I heard Warren had pulled out but Ross Draper was outstanding at centre back. Kept Ngoo quiet and never put a foot wrong imo, a tactic that could work again in the future. Some good defending was needed first half, a few times Killie were creeping in a couple of times, but tackling was well timed and well executed. We got into our groove more in the 2nd half and we looked more likely to take the lead. Billy, Shinnie, Doran and Raven all came close but Billys ball to Doran in the 75 minute and Doran's composure on his left foot was excellent he just stroked it home. Tansey's strike was something special, even if it went in off Samson it was a cracking, swerving effort. He deserved something from it. It was a real double whammy for Killie. They seemed to really lose their heads. The likes of Eremenko and our good friend Jamie Hammill were putting in silly tackles and lucky not to get more severely punished. Is it just me or was Eremenko looking a bit plump and portly? Complacency was my real concern on the back of last week but my questions were again answered and we continue to push on....loving the winning feeling
  9. I'm not overly convinced the trialist is Marlon Jackson. It may not be Marlon Jackson but it is a guy called Marlon. Thats what he was referred to as by his team mates on Tuesday...
  10. Think it's the Nigerian lad who has been let go. It was the guy Marlon who scored the hat trick in the bounce game.
  11. Arrogant, deluded, ignorant, biased, hypocritical, in denial, petty, bitter, greetin, ill tempered seethe. I have no sympathy for him
  12. Ladies and gentlemen...Mr Trevor Benjamin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trevor_benjamin
  13. Alan Kernaghan was the early favourite after Robbo left. On the back of how well he had done at Clyde I would have had him. His spell in charge of Dundee was not as fruitful however.
  14. I remember Archie Knox was the favourite just before Butcher came in. Vast experience as a coach and assistant manager but he has never gone on to manage since. Just continued as an assistant.
  15. I remember Ardilles being linked in 2009 when Brewster was sacked. STV interviewed him and he admitted he knew none of our players and very little about the Scottish game...
  16. Chris Sutton...glad we avoided him in the end
  17. Cant get over how in control we were of that game, even if it was Celtic's B team (awaiting that as their excuse). We moved the ball about so well and used our width to full effect. Draper and Tansey bossed midfield yet again and despite one or two moments are back four looked very solid and Deano stood firm when called upon. Celtic never really got into a stride, they looked dangerous after half time, MacGregor made some nice runs for them but they seemed to run out of ideas fast and we were looking more confident with every surge forward. We forced them into that OG, was a brilliant ball in from Watkins and it caused all kind of confusion in the box, Marley looked industrious all afternoon and if he couldnt score then making the OG makes up for it. The work rate was top notch, everyone put in a shift from front to back and we dug deep towards the end to shut Celtic out, nerve wracking end to the game but so worth it. The title is ours to throw away...
  18. He's 31, injury prone and never been that prolific but that said we have a history of getting the best out of these kind of players...shall see how gets on.
  19. Rollercoasters typically end their journey quicker...
  20. Fantastic result. Clean sheet and 2 pearler strikes against a side renowned for giving us a hiding on their own turf. Cannot ask for anymore. Questions were asked after Wednesday and theyve been well and truly answered. Leaves me feeling a lot more confident knowing this is the kind of result and performance we are capable of. We top a league that our neighbours are propping up? That is like the perfect symmetry of life for me. Marley played a peach by the sounds of things and Doran scored the killer goal. I think its time they both go back and stay in the starting line up. Roll on to Celtic at home...
  21. If he leaves now we all know whos to blame...
  22. County got crushed and we kept a clean sheet again, I ll take my positives where I find them but tonight was tedious. Possession football is fine and well but please find a cutting edge from somewhere.
