I'm sure Tuffey is frustrated but i think Esson justified his selection last night with a great performance.

This has to be the most random thing i have ever seen. Sure Jackson was a great performer and i'm sure him and Fayed were friends but by building it at Craven Cottage implies that he had something to do with Fulham football club which is not the case. I'm sure many of their fans aren't happy about it either. If i were them i'd see this as Fayed taking the mick. Just sounds like a real waste of money imo.

I'am proud of the effort we gave last night. We went out there with a very make-shift team and gave it our all, created chances and did our best to take advantage of what little scraps we got. At the end of the day we were up against the best players in the league and while they didn't play well it does show the measure of a team when they win ugly. Very unhappy with the ref. Was a clear penalty and red card, got the first bit right with the help of his linesman but Foran was bearing down on goal, letter of the law is a red card. Some will argue that Celtic got all the free kicks and decisions. I agree with this but have to say if we let this affect the way we play all the time then we are heading for trouble. All i will say we got wrong at the back was panicky clearences and poor marking, get it sorted on the training ground. Top marks for Foran who played out of skin till he was running on empty, Esson for some great handling and the save from Ledley and Shane who despite being played out wide (again) gave 100%, showed some great ability and was unlucky not to score a stunning goal.

It's not on. Champions League football takes priority so we lose out.
-
I think we should just go with the tactics Butcher drew up in the Courier.

Singing you'll never walk alone at Anfield before a game. Put the hairs up on the back of my neck. Was epic!

Phil McGuire is playing for Lochee United last i heard. Hope the move to Formartine works out well for Pele.

BRING IT ON!!!

With you on this one Mannie. Would add little to what we have already and if he isn't good enough for a new contract at Hibs.......? Johnny Hayes wasnt good enough for a new contract at Leicester, Ryan Esson wasnt worth a new contract at Hereford, it dosen't matter where they were previously. When it comes to getting the best out of players with a point to prove we are arguably the best side around for it.

You mean the guy who was captain of Hibs then the SPL player-of-the-year when Celtic won the title. Same player that got a lot of plaudits during their Champions League run, only to become captain of EPL club Wigan when he left. Yeah, must be a really terrible player... I guess you're basing it on Tony Mowbray's run, where the central defence was left to fend for themselves with no midfield support, so that Celtic could become 'the new Barcelona'. Name a single defender that did play well for Mowbray? He's also great at falling in his a*se and giving the ball away. Not saying he is a terrible defender but there is defnitely better defenders they could pick.

Gordon Hutton, Berra, McManus, Wallace Brown, Fletcher Dorrans, Commons, Adam Miller Subs: McGregor, Wilson, Bardsley, Bannan, Morrison, Naismith, McFadden.

Would love to see him back as well...imo should never have left (we can thank the inept Brew for that).

Juanjo's ban was rescinded but as i remember Lennon escaped punishment for his part in it. On the Aberdeen game, if i recall correctly Duncan's 1st booking was for winding up Dons supporters when he scored, two really stupid bookings. He deserved to go off that day.

Jock MacDonald had nothing to do with Caley , I suggest you read the link below . http://www.ictfc.co....2208825_1490901 Sorry i got lazy while posting, i meant Caley Thistle. You were right the first time, Caley is a nickname of Caley Thistle. Yeah i know but DC seemed to think that by sayin Caley i meant Inverness Caledonian. Which was not the case anyhoo, getting off topic.

I think if we were to get a statue of Jock McDonald most people that know nothing about Caley would mistake it for a statue of Winston Churchill.

Shinnie will need recovery time and i doubt Gillet will get thrown straight in against Celtic. here goes... Esson Duff, Tokely, Hogg, Munro Hayes, Duncan, Cox, Doran Foran, Rooney Subs: Tuffey, Gillet, Ross, Sutherland, MacDonald

Fantastic turn around from Tuesday night and great too see Shane get off the mark, such a great strike too, hopefully thats one of many. And Alex McDonald getting his 1st goal too. Thought Butch got the tactics spot on today with Hogg and Tokely playing centre half, back four seemed much more solid and Duncan covered so much in midfield today and imo justified his cause for a starting place. Richie Foran, take a bow, played out of his skin today and by the looks of it was back to his best today. Motherwell for me looked sluggish, even when they were dominating in the 1st half, was very suprised to see Humphrey not starting, given Munro was at left back. By the time he was on it was all but over really was also funny watching the not so inspiring Francis Jeffers get bustled about by our backline, he never looked like scoring. Great to see us get back to winning ways and very pleasing to see us end a difficult week on a high.

Forgot Proctor is under contract for next season too.
-
Which is whats been said for the last month or so...so i can understand why the OP is scratching his head wondering why he isn't playing.
-
Yet again we have several players out of contract at the end of the season. Hayes, Foran, Esson, Tuffey, Cox, Ross, Sutherland, Morrison and Shinnie are the only players we have secured for next season. Players i'd keep are Munro, Duncan, Duff, Hogg, *Gillet, Rooney, *Sanchez, and Tokely. *Gillet will regain his place and stay i think and Sanchez for me was really impressive before he got injured and deserves a chance. I think we should at least try to retain Rooney but if he dosen't stay then oh well. Innes and Gil ain't cutting it for me and Roy and Gollie are past it. Odhiambo's future is debatable. Just want to know what other folks think...

Dougal sparking more controversy i see. Last night was a terrible display for all, no question of that but from looking at the team last i thought one problem was the fact that most players seemed to be running on empty. Hayes looked done after about half an hour, which is no suprise given that he was supposed to still be out, Ross looked fatigued when he came on, Doran only lasted about 20 minutes before hobbling off and Foran looked in desprate need of a break. Several months on and 3 more signings added and we still can't seem to get ahead in terms of using a full team, in fact we haven't been able to name a full team all season i think. Not using it as an excuse but we are a small squad at the best of times and difficult games in quick succession can't be easy for us just now. We put so much in to the beginning of the season and i think unfortunately the energy levels have dropped simply becuase the same players have had to be used constantly. We are not the greatest side in the league and we've clearly set ourselves in good stead to survive which was the priority at the start of the season, just now teams like Hibs, Midden, etc are in desprate need of the points to pull away from the dropzone, something we don't have to worry about (just now anyway). All im saying is we are a bottom 6 club and i think we just have to accept that for this season. Who knows we may get a shot next season again.
-
We have blown our best chance so far for a top 6 place and we have no one to blame but ourselves. We got bowled over like a band of skittles tonight by some of the most inept displays of football i've seen from us in years. Sure, we started well and almost sneaked ahead but slowly but surely we let United back into the game and were punished for doing so. Everytime we got into a good position we either screwed up with a combination of things. We either gave it away, played it out or fell over. We lacked any first touch and shooting chances turned into wasted crosses. Quite frankly i'm glad we won't be finishing in the top 6 as it is clear we're losing our bottle. I understand that we were patched together again in terms of a team but tonight we were meant to have enough craft to carve out a result. Simply didn't happen.

Esson Duff, Hogg, Tokely, Munro Ross, Cox, Duncan, Doran Rooney, Foran Subs: Tuffey, *Gillet, Innes, Morrison, *Hayes, Sutherland, MacDonald * if fit, if not then Odhiambo and Golabek.

I heard somewhere he has Scottish blood in him. Get him in the squad!
