Gary Mackay-Steven
So we weren't a good enough club for him yet Airdrie were. Oh well, see how he does at part time level. He may work his way up.

Our worst ever players in the SPL?
Phil McGuire i think can get added to that list as well, possibly the worst centre half we have ever had. Morgan was a decent player when he played, he just struggled to stay fit unfortunately.

ICT -V- Elgin City : Matchday Thread
The introduction of Sanchez and Sutherland was what won this game for us. It was the same old problems throughout the game, silly, careless errors getting made and struggling to make anything happen in the final third. Odhiambo , im sorry but this boy shows no urgency or desire to get onto the ball at times, he really was liability and it was only when he came off that things started to change and they really did. Elgin keeper, Donnelly. He made some excellent saves, best one was a crisp drive from Shane that was heading into the bottam far corner and he just got his tips too it. But he had no chance with Sanchez, lethal volley from the edge of the box. And then he played the perfect flick on to Rooney, to finish them off. Elgin deserve credit. They played well and tryed to exploit our slow, ageing defence and Tuffey was called into action once or twice and they had a great support as well.

Kenny Dalglish...
Dissapointed Hodgson has left but i thought it would happen. He is a good manager but just didn't suit the club. Not sure about Dalglish, if he works out then fine but to be honest i would prefer a more experienced manager, Rijkaard would have been my choice. Dalglish has been out of managment for too long. Kenny couldn't have a more difficult start. Man U away tomorrow, Blackpool away midweek and the Merseyside derby.

New faces in January...
Butcher gives a rather negative interview regarding players coming to the club in todays P&J.

MERGED: Rooney Transfer ???
I wouldn't say he is the greatest striker outside the box but he has improved that area of his game alot. He comes deep sometimes and holds it up very well thus allowing other players to join the attack, i can recall a few times seeing him doing this which has led to a goal.

MERGED: Rooney Transfer ???
Club say we have had no offers for Rooney according to STV news.
-
MERGED: Rooney Transfer ???
40% of the fee.

MERGED: Rooney Transfer ???
If it is a decent offer then the club will probably accept it. Will be ashame if he goes.

These songs are chosen on the We Are Perth website. The tannoy man takes requests. Usually depends on the team we are playing. Requests for the tannoy on matchday...not a bad idea.

New faces in January...
Gillet, Innes, Blumenshtein, Odhiambo, Sanchez, Munro, Rooney, Golabek, McBain, Duncan, Johnson, Sutherland, Tokely and Duff all have expiring contracts at the end of the season. Munro, Duncan, Rooney, Duff and Gillet are the only 5 i'd be concerned about getting extended. I think Tokely has an option to extend his contract by a further 12 months himself.

He's injured just now.

New faces in January...
Blumenshtein, Sanchez, Golly and McBain could all get shipped off, that essentially free's up space for 3 or 4 new players. Imo McBain should stay on, he is reasonably versatile and should injuries strike he could do a job as cover. But TB dosen't seem to rate Sanchez anymore, Golly's done and i don't think Blumenshtein will cut it at this level. I suppose it all depends on what standard of player TB is looking at, and if their loans how much we would have to contribute towards wages.

St Johnstone -V- ICT : Matchday Thread
A dreadful match of football. 2 teams slouching their way through 90 minutes. Was very suprised with the team that started but wasnt suprised to see Foran on 2nd half. Duncan defnitely shouldve been on as well. Gil for me is just far too lightweight for this league, needs to much space to operate and he is never going to get it. Odhiambo had a match to forget as well. He was sloppy with posession and his touch let him down almost every time. Duff and Cox looked lost for ideas at times. They looked scared getting beyond the half way line and tended to slow down the play too much. Ryan Esson take a bow son, made 2 of the best saves i have seen all season and had no chance with Samuel's goal. This team is in definite need of a shake up. Attacking options need bolstered, midfield needs a natrual ball player and the backline is in need of some young blood.

That was the year that was
Raith at home on April 3rd. County at home. Almost every away day of 2010. Paticuarly Ayr and Pittodrie. Winning the league. Johnny's strike vs the Gers. Away day weekend in Fleetwood. Just a few to name...

That was the year that was
Can safely say this is the greatest year i have ever had as a supporter of Caley Thistle. We have acheived so much and long may it continue, may the next 12 months be just as fruitful a year. Roll on 2011!

things to work on
Completely agree with the OP, we currently have no one we can depend upon for a decent set piece nor do we have a throw in tactic of any kind, in fact i think we are one of the worst sides at starting from a throw in, but thats been a problem for years.

ICT -V- Kilmarnock : Matchnight Thread
We were woeful last night but i think Kilmarnock deserve alot of credit for their performance, what impressed was how quickly and efficently they moved the ball about. Taouil, Sammon, Eremenko, Kelly etc, they were so quick and also very dangerous with ball at their feet, didn't matter what we did they always seemed to break up play and create the breaks for themselves. I don't think there was a lack of desire from ourselves but there was a lack of basic play, too often the easy passes, the through balls, the crosses were going wrong. Without Johnny we essentially lose our creative edge on the park, Blumenshtein managed to put in a great ball towards the end, but it was the only really good ball i remember going in. Still think we need to add to the midfield in January. I think Ross Tokely's night can be described as mixed. He made some great moments, last ditch tackles and interceptions etc. But at other times was bullied by Sammon, punting the ball aimlessly out of play and looked slow when Kilmarnock were attacking.

Sanchez
Flattered by the comment Alternative Maryhill. Atm i would probably be more inclined to give Sanchez or Blumenshtein a run out instead of Odi jusy to keep folks on their toes. Complacency had creeped in on Sunday and that is something that needs to be quickly stamped out in order to keep the good run going. Shane did play well but he is not a wide player. He's a striker, end off.

We Need Another Hayes!
I agree, a player with a bit of pace and creativity is required to not only be there if Johnny is injured and also to stop the team depending on him so much. Morais won't be back, nor will Mackay-Steven and i doubt we could afford Gardyne. Butcher was talking about loan deals, i did hear that Danny Cadamarteri was a player we may be monitoring. He is out of the picture at United just now and his contract is up at the end of the season.

ICT -V- St Mirren : Matchday Thread
Woeful performance on our part today. Easy things were made to look difficult today and the use of width through Johnny Hayes was clearly missed throughout the match. Though the performance of Shane was a positive factor. Credit to the Midden, they came with a gameplan and they worked it well. We went into our shell after taking the lead and got punished as a result. We could've won it 2nd half but we were wasteful which was rather typical to the day. Tbh this defeat is probably something the team needed. We are not unbeatable and perhaps some players needed reminding of that. I think we are in need of a midfielder that can shift the ball about though, and one or two more pacey players. On the plus side, Esson made some simply stunning saves today. The big man had no chance with either goal, he was motm.
