  1. His way of coping! Didn't want to seethe!
  2. Did I read somewhere that County include their season ticket holders in the gate numbers, whether they were there or not? Do we do the same? When you consider the distances central belt supporters have to travel to each others grounds to bump up each others numbers, compared with us, it shows that we are not doing as badly as many make out. Probably as well as we could expect really.
  3. Well said and well done to the Board aswell. These are great times-no matter what happens from here.
  4. Thank you lol Made my day!
  5. First you steal two eggs...!

  10. Great to hear that you are o.k. Gabby, we are all fine here at the Redlands as well. Things like this always seem to happen to other people. It certainly shakes you up when it happens so close to home.
  11. Another 3 here at Redland Bay!
  12. hello pimple, I was having all manner of problems trying to view, all I was getting was a black screen or nothing. Itried again just now and "bingo" perfect, no waiting and great picture. Thanks to all concerned.
  13. At the Drunmossie?!!! At their prices, do you appreciate the magnitude of the commitment you've just made? No Minimum Pricing debate up there! The offer stands, if you fix up the transport I'll buy you a drink and I'll throw in a blow by blow account of our 7 goals!
  14. Well, well! Knocking on 60 years of age and he still remembers it fondly. Must have been a very rare occurrence! 50th anniversary celebration in the Drumossie in 2019 maybe? Like it was yesterday! If you can arrange the transport I'll even buy you a drink!!
  15. and a rather belated Happy New Year! Caleyboy do you remember the score of the IHS versus IRA senior football teams at the High School grounds in 1969? Giday Roarer - Sorry but you have me there. Can't remember getting beat tho! IHS 7 IRA 1 Not bad for lads who never went to sixth year!

  17. Caleyboy you've really floored me with that news about Peter. I remember him very well. He was always a really nice guy. Other players were Walter Wright, Robbie Munro and Roddy Webster. I remember Roddy asking me who scored for us, as he couldn't see properly without his glasses! Davie Williamson also from the High School as I recall and didn't Eric Mackintosh play for us aswell? That's probably as much as the Wolf Blass will let me stretch to at the moment. I hope it can open some doors in your memory bank.
  18. Played for Clach Rangers as well "exgrover". You are right, Muirpark were the caley younguns not Telford Street. I remember Clach Rangers were to play Crown Thistle in a cup final at Grant Street with Peter Bennett due to ref it. When we turned up, Peter had called off and Chicks MacKay was his replacement - or so he thought. Dougie and George Rodgers Jnr, who ran the team at the time, insisted that poor old Chicks would NEVER ref at Grant Street and they refused to let us take the field. Game off, Crown Thistle took the cup home. We were guutted and it created a big hooha in the local press via Frank Philips. I can't really remember if we played any games after that and I think the league disbanded shortly afterwards - maybe 1970. I played for Clach Rangers too and was also in the team that "Young George" wouldn't let take the field in the cup final. I remember there was a BB select that played in the league. For some obscure reason they called themselves Sporting. We beat them four - three in an epic at Grant Street as I remember.I must know you Caleyboy! Well well Roarer - let me guess. Were you the most agile keeper of your era? We are the same age. I was probably a wee bit quicker than you! Let's not give away any secrets on this site tho. Where have you done to "Roarer"? Would your initials be JM by any chance? I think it was you who recommended me to the Rodgers. Well, well, Caleyboy sorry for the delay in answering. I just moved house and have had a nightmare trying to get the internet reconnected. You must be JJ I reckon!

  20. Our memories are certainly different regarding the merits of our various schools. I remember playing against Crown, Central, Dalneigh, Hilton and High School 2nd eleven for the Merkinch. We came second or third the year I played. The team from the previous year won the competion. I remember lining up against Dalneigh and their teacher wouldn't let Ian "Macca" Mackenzie play unless he removed his plastic beatle wig.Which looked like a very dark brown half football ! "Macca" wouldn't so he didn't play and we fell about laughing.
