  1. Hundreds of thousands lost!!! How do you work that out?
  2. When compared to the problems other clubs have had with call-offs, I think we're fairing pretty well. Had it not been due to the fact it was Celtic (twice) and TV games then I doubt it would have got a fraction of the air-time or column inches it has.
  3. You'd think we were the only team to ever have a game called off because of rain the way some people are going on!!! Every inch of rain that falls on our pitch is upwards of 200,000 litres of water, if that's not draining into the pitch it has to drain off somewhere else...and then into the drainage system. I've no idea what rate it was following at this morning, but it was as bad as I've seen in a long time. When down dropping my old man at work the wipers on the car were struggling to keep the windscreen clear. Wherever the water goes it's going to overwhelm most drainage systems....anyone out and about early this morning would have seen the roundabout beside Halfords looking like an island and many other mains drains were over flowing and struggling to cope. A cover on a pitch with that volume of water falling will not do much good unless it's of the tent type as it will actually draw water from the full/backed up drains to the surface, even with tent style covers if the pressure in the drains is greater than the pressure above it will force its way up. Maybe covers would have helped enough to get a different decision from the Ref today, and maybe they would have just created other kinds of issues....I don't know, but I do know that planning and dealing with these things, especially to the extent we saw this morning, involves more than just throwing a tarp over the pitch.
  4. [info='Time and incessant rain too much for us']Official Caley Thistle statement on the circumstances of the Celtic match being postponed. Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC would like to express their deep disappointment and apologise to fans of both teams for the postponement of today's SPL game with Celtic. The game being off is unfortunately due to a combination of issues that conspired against the Club, but we appreciate that supporters will be frustrated. The facts of the matter are that heavy overnight rain caused a major problem to our playing surface. By 8 am it was unplayable but with a good short-term weather forecast, we felt the game could go on. We asked the referee to wait another half hour, which we are positive, would have made all the difference in fast-improving conditions, but at 9.45 am he called the game off. The pitch was playable within the hour and we feel the game could have been played had we had the opportunity to delay the inspection, however we do appreciate the referee had to make his decision on the prevailing conditions at the time. Before the referee's verdict, the club had tried to contact the SPL to have the kick off delayed by an hour until 1pm, and Celtic indicated that this was suitable to them. Unfortunately this was not possible. It is a great pity that this much-anticipated fixture could not be played. Had it been a normal 3 pm kick off, there would have been no pitch problem whatsoever. Overnight rain, and the 12 noon start gave us too little time to allow sufficient drainage before the referee's inspection. We had people working on the pitch from 7am but the timescale and the incessant rain were not in our favour. The Chairman stated "given that our record for having our games on has been superb and the fact we have now lost 3 games to a flooded pitch in a short period of time we will be getting a second opinion with regard to the playing surface so we can decide what if anything requires to be done to improve the drainage on the pitch. The postponement does not help either team. Celtic are going for the title while we are anxious to book a top six spot. We look forward to the game being rescheduled as soon as is practicable. 5. Don't think one could survive (in current format) without the other.
  6. I've never seen anyone thrown out for standing, but I have seen a few thrown out for the abuse/backchat they give to the Stewards when asked to sit down. I'm of the opinion that maximum speeds on motorways etc should be increased, but if I was caught speeding and the copper wanted to just give me a warning, I wouldn't turn around and tell him to feck off before speeding away with my tyres burning!!!
  7. The issue seems to be that we have a few fans who've been ejected from more than one ground, so it's not a problem with a specific club.
  8. I didn't start this thread to argue the rights and wrongs of what might have happened at any individual game, I started it to give a heads up that some people seem to have found their way on to the radar and I think they need to be mindful of that fact. Would have been easier for me to just say nothing, but I don't want to see any ICT fan landing themselves in bother when it can be easily avoided.
  9. Who reports any such incidents? The police? The ref? The home club? As I understood it the reports came from the SPL Rep at the games.
  10. Was speaking to someone yesterday and it was mentioned that ICT fans had been reported to the SPL/SFA in regards to people being ejected from the Dundee Utd game...and it's not the first report this season. Since it's not something that's come up in forum discussion following the game and I wasn't there then I can't say who, what, how or why. All I know is that their appears to be a small group of people who have managed to get themselves on the radar and are damaging the otherwise good name of the ICT travelling support. No idea what, if anything, the club are doing about it.....although I may not be popular for mentioning it on here!!! But if you've been one of those ejected from a game this season then you might want to keep your head down just in case.
  11. I've decided to abstain from voting.
  12. Given the way the games being run in this country, being sponsored by crime seems entirely appropriate.

Not a new or unusual trend. People have always voted more on the POTY in the games we've won and voting also tends to drop off when the team are going through lean spells....number of site visitors/threads/posts is impacted in the same way. The only exception to the above has been when things got really bad.....like we witnessed during the Brewster end game.

A giant kilt (in ICT Tartan) than can be pulled up to reveal a bare erse.
  15. I don't think you are too far off the mark in regards to your opinion that the season might be seen as "job done". I also wonder if, despite a few new faces, the squad have fully recovered from the physical and mental efforts of last season (and even the end of the season before).....especially with the added pressure of us operating with a depleted squad for much of this campaign. That's no slight on the players, some of whom have been operating on full throttle for the best part of 15 months (or more). As fans I think our expectations were heightened by the fact we've spent most of the season in the top 6 (only dropping out of it a couple of weeks ago) and the players will have felt under pressure to maintain that...even though some will, with a certain amount of justification, argue that it's not been reflected in the performances of late...or indeed at home. What's the answer? No idea....not even sure there is one other than riding the wave and playing through it. Perhaps "Job Done" is the right way to view the current campaign and it's time to turn attentions towards next season by giving some of the fringe players more opportunity and experimenting a little. Let the players decide if they are hungry enough to fight for that top 6 slot.....if nothing else it will show Butcher which players are committed and who might need to be moved on.
  16. Was more of a general observation on reading the thread and similar posts on match threads v other teams. Offcourse people see games differently, some thought Nick Ross had a good game, others a quiet one for example but I think it was probably the criticism of Duff in particular that made me wonder. A player who's done very well on the whole at right back, out of position and against two of the best and most sought after players in the SPL in Izzaguirre and Kayal. Given our complete lack of a left or right back for ages any criticism of our defence at all must be measured. Wild statements on players having been useless or whatever since we signed them make me laugh, even Lionel had a few good games if you were lucky enough to see him in every game he played. I wouldn't disagree with any of that. IMO, part of the reason we see this kind of things from fans is because our great start to the season set the level of expectation quite high...and when expectations are high and not being met then you tend to get a bit of a backlash. It can be frustrating to see people who appear to mindlessly criticise, but I'm glad you took the time to expand on your original point. If everyone did that instead of the "They were crap" or "they were great" type comments with no justification then we'd all understand each other a bit better and improve the level of discussion on the forum at the same time.

We have? You do? Finally you get to the point and we all learn what the real agenda for this thread has been.

And being loyal to the crown is bad because? Who said it was bad? I said it was worse and you need to take that in the context of the discussion. If the Union Flag is seen as a royalist symbol and you want to avoid that then using the Lion Rampant would be a worse idea.
  19. Got a feeling that Tuffey will be between the sticks tomorrow, Sutherland will start along with MacDonald and Hayes and Doran will be on the bench.

Lion Rampant is worse than the Union Flag given the fact that it is owned by the Monarch and only ever flown as a token of loyalty to the crown.
  22. Hayes was originally from training ground...I was at stadium when the team arrived back from the session where it occured...since been aggrevated twice during matches. Doran was a groin strain from midweek Utd game. Shinnie is medical as opposed to injury. McBain carrying a knock received in training.
  23. If you challenge the post and not the poster it makes for a more interesting discussion. Which comments is it you disagree with and why?
  24. It's a feckin diddy cup anyway, it's the league that matters
