Clyde facing admin....
Our current situation came at a cost...we have no assets of any real value...and it wouldn't take much to send us the way of others, so I wouldn't be so quick to make any assumptions about our financial position.

Clyde facing admin....
It's not only Scottish Football...and it started long before Gretna went to the wall. Somewhere in the region of 60 clubs have gone into administration (or worse) in the last 15 years.

Livingston FC
How can anyone argue that they should have been allowed to remain in Div 1? They got there through unfair means and by spending money they didn't have, and still don't have.....over ?11 Million of money they didn't have.....and that's not counting whatever might be written off this time around. Also, the league did not ask them for a ?720k bond. They asked the LMC at the first meeting whether them paying a bond might help their case and the LMC told them it possibly could and they would get back to them with an idea of the kind of figure it would be. At the next meeting, when asked if the Bond could/would be put in place, Livingston refused to do it.....which is when discussion moved on to relegation. There's a lot of mis-information out there and the administrator and Livingston 5 are remaining tight lipped and allowing it to continue because they have the view that the more chaos they can create, the more likely the SFL are to back down. To be totally honest, I started out with the opinion that I didn't want to see Livingston go to the wall.....but the current attitude of the fans and the way this new consortium seem to be going about business so far is quickly eroding any sympathy I might have had for their plight.

Season tickets
For a start.....you can only get a free under 8 kids ticket if you have a full paying adult season ticket....so we probably have a combination of adults now taking kids along who were coming themselves last season and adults who've bought new season tickets because they can now take their kid along without it breaking the bank.....whatever way you look at it, it's a welcome improvement. I also know a few corporates who've cut back on the number of tickets they're taking....so the rest of the fans will be picking up that slack as well. Whichever way you cut it, or whatever holes you try to poke in it.....there's going to be as many, if not more, fans turning out every other week to support the team. How much they've paid (if anything) has very little to do with, and takes nothing away from, the fact that people are still coming forward to support the team at a time when it wouldn't have been a surprise to see a 20%+ decrease in season ticket take-up. I think the club deserve a bit of credit for coming up with a scheme that allowed that, and the fans deserve a bit of credit for answering the call. Really....there's no reason to be trying to piss on anyone's parade.

As the original topic seems to have run it's course and the last few posts have little to do with the original discussion then the decision has been taken to close the thread. If anyone has any objections then please use the report button on this post to raise the matter with the Forum Moderators.

I'm sure there's a stereotypical size joke in there somewhere.

Away Support
The Stewards are just puppets doing what they get told to do by a person sitting in the control room giving out orders. A few of the Stewards at Dunfermline used to do our place, one of whom was a head steward, and she was in front of the away support for most of the game and barely batted an eyelid at anything....other than me obviously, but I have that effect on women

If MFR are anything like the rest of the media, they probably got the 6 months from this very thread

I believe Lionel only suffered a dead leg.

Highlights?
Wouldn't suggest any of our fans base a judgement of the game and ICT's performance on the highlights linked to above. I appreciate that it's Pars produced highlights, but there's bias and there's trying to re-write history!!! ;)

shop and ticket office to go
There's nobody experienced that more than me, Steve. You're right that it's been so long since the fans have been allowed to do their bit that not only are they reluctant, but we also have a generation who just aren't used to being asked to do their bit and expect everything handed to them on a plate, and maybe my wee rant isn't the best approach, but I don't think we have time for the slow persuasive method. At the end of the day, this is OUR (the fans) club, and as grateful as I am for the work of certain people over the years they will never stop me having my say or attempting to do my bit because when they get bored or move on I want to make sure we don't end up in the same position as Livingston, Gretna or any of the other clubs that have gone into Administration....or worse. Sustainability is about more than having enough cash in the bank, it's about having a community and fanbase that are willing to do whatever needs to be done to help the club.....and that has to be regardless of what the money men try to say or do. We can't let any disagreement we have with them or the way they do things get in the way of US doing the best for the club as that kind of attitude, in the long run, only serves to be self-defeating. I don't want to get into an argument with other fans about it either, as that helps nobody. As I said, it's just something I find very frustrating.

shop and ticket office to go
I'm a little frustrated with all "sides" here (for want of a better description. On the one hand, I think some might be jumping the gun a bit here. I don't believe it's the clubs intention to get rid of the shop, only to scale back it's manning and operation to a sensible and sustainable level which is in-keeping with the clubs position and finances. On the other hand, I do share many of the concerns, especially those expressed by Scotty in regard to quality of service, and I am a little disappointed that...yet again...we seem to be letting frontline staff who are liked and respected by the fans leave. Our 5 years in the SPL have done little to retain the fan/club bond, and it would have been a helluva lot worse if not for some of these people. There's also another thing which is annoys and continues to annoy me, and that's the fact that throughout this, and all the cuts that have been needed since relegation, the majority of fans have had the "What are the club doing about it" attitude. These are the times when the fans need to be stepping up and also asking "What can we do about it". We have to lose this attitude where we expect everything handed to us on a plate and as I pointed out a couple of weeks back, if we can get fans in doing bits and pieces then it all helps in freeing up funds to allow the club to sustain the bigger things. We couldn't even get enough people together for a couple of days to do a bit of painting....so when we start pointing the finger and shouting, let's not forget to turn that finger in our own direction every now and then and realise that we are as much a part of the problem as we can be the solution.

Kyle Allison
I spoke to a couple of people after the game who had (initially) joined in with the chants being discussed because they thought they were being aimed at Bayne. They were then mortified to discover that they were aimed at Allison, as were many around them, and that's when the chants eventually tailed off. The guys in the group that were starting the bulk of songs/chants are a powerful section within our support and for the most part I don't think you'll find anyone who'll knock the for their effort. OK, you might find the odd person who doesn't like to hear sweary words, but that's life and I'm a great advocate for educate kids instead of trying to hide them away from these things and those who say they'll hear much worse in the playground are spot on. With that "power" also comes a bit of responsibility. However, you do have to apply a bit of context on both sides of the argument. Most people aren't expecting to go to a football match and not hear a few expletives....it comes with the territory, but it should also come with the territory that any "abuse" being dished out by a support is aimed at the opposition and not at our own players. The only reasoning I can find in the attempted justification is that Allison allegedly upset a single person who happened to be wearing an ICT top. If what's been said did happen I find it very hard to believe it was a totally unprovoked act/incident and it's a fair bet those partaking in the abuse yesterday are far from being aware of the full story. I've witnessed a few of our players over the years get abuse in the street for no other reason than a particular "fan" didn't like them. Players are expected to turn the other cheek or simply ignore it because "they are professionals and should know better". Bollocks to that....it's those shouting the abuse in the first place who should know better. Could you imagine the uproar if one of our players who'd got a bit of stick from a fan stood at the side of the pitch pointing at them, shouting their name and giving them abuse because they'd given him hassle in the street? Would those defending yesterdays chants be so quick to defend the player with the same arguments they are using to defend the fans?....I don't think so. The atmosphere, craic and banter yesterday was fantastic without the added abuse of Allison. It's not needed, it's not justified, it's not wanted and it only serves to weaken us as a support IMO. Those involved in starting the chants only let themselves, and the rest of the fans down....it served no other purpose.

Dunfermline V ICT : Matchday Thread
As I said elsewhere, I am taking this season one game at a time and heading out with the aim to enjoy as much of it as I possibly can...trying to spend a bit more time appreciating what we've got instead of moaning/complaining about what we don't have. I have to say that today pretty much ticked all the boxes and provided the best day out at the football I've had in a longgggg time. The company down was great, pre-match was great, football provided all the hands in the air, hands on the head and head in the hands moments you could ask for and apart from a few eejits getting carried away with the chants at Allison the atmosphere was about as much as you could ask for. Even when things weren't going our way the fans remained vocal and got behind the team, and I think the goal was a deserved reward for the efforts of the 12th Man. Roll on Dundee as I fancy another wee away day

Big thank you
Thanks. It's those on the bus that make it what it is, and I'm only too happy to drive it and be part of that. I did have one wee laugh to myself coming up the road....forget what song it was but I started singing away (I thought) to myself and was almost at the end of the song before I realised that I wasn't alone No extra charge for the entertainment!!!
