Idea for MFR?
I opted for "Canned Heat - Let's Work Together" as the tune for the team to run out too today and noticed a few more fans than usual clapping/singing along....which, for me, is what the tune the team come out too should be all about. 2 weeks till our first home league game and I'll be taking ideas from here and getting input and feedback from the Club/Butcher/Players before a decision is made on which song we go with for the season.

ICT -V- Annan : Matchday Thread
Most definitely Stratford....you're only likely to get booked if you challenge for 50/50's and don't avoid tackles for fear of getting your shorts dirty and there's no way Sanchez was going to do either today. He's going to have to toughen up a bit if he's wanting to make an impact this year.

I have to say that the whole think does stink a bit and it appears that the League Management Committee have conveniently allowed this to run so late in order to remove the chance of relegation from the equation. They have have to give 21 days notice of any meeting which would have the power to impose any punishment on Livingston, and as that takes us beyond the start of the season relegation really can't be inflicted on them. The only real options remaining are fines and points deductions. Fining them would only take money out of the hands of the creditors at this stage...and I don't think any of us want that to happen. That just leaves a points deduction. If the deduct them 10 or 15 points then they are as good as consigning them to a relegation/playoff scenario and whilst I think it should happen, it will be argued by Livingston and whoever they can "persuade" onside that such action would undermine the integrity of the competition. All we can gather from recent (and past) events of this nature is that the current rules....which aren't really rules because all they say is "we have the option too"....aren't up to scratch and the whole system needs looked at. Livingston were wrong to have got themselves into this position (again), but they can't be held accountable for the poor rules/regulations in place at the SFL. Let's face it, if ICT were in their position and we were offered such a lifeline then we'd be grabbing it with both hands as well....and to feck with everyone else. It doesn't make it right, but it doesn't do any harm to get inside to look at it from the other side for a bit. I also believe that the new Business Plan that the Livi Trust want to put in place is THE way forward for ALL clubs at all levels. I got a preview of it at the Supporters Direct Conference this year. The club might have been denying they had problems and many of the fans were in denial at the gravity of the situation only a couple of months back, by the Supporters Trust knew what was coming and they were as prepared as they could be to step in and do what was needed to not only try and save the clubs existence, but to have a plan to take it forward. Now as much, if not more than ever lessons need to be learned, not just by Livingston, but by the SFL and every club in the country. More so than anyone else, the fans of every club need to wake up and realise that they can't just bury their heads in the sand and ignore what's going on in the boardroom.

ICT Training Tops
These items exist and are being worn by players so the club must already be fulfilling the minimum order requirements. That just leaves the issue of how many they would sell in the shop, and that could be combated with a little advance planning and taking pre-orders....add a few extra for selling in the shop and you've all but removed the risk of surplus stock.

Idea for MFR?
If we were to go down the Scottish/Local tune route then there's songs that are better suited to a team running out then Highland Cathedral. Ones that immediately spring to mind are the theme to "Local Hero", "Scottish...and Proud of It" and "Hector the Hero"....dare I even mention Runrig?

U16's go free v Annan......
Just to let those of you who may not know, for tomorrows game v Annan in the CIS Cup anyone under the age of 16 who is accompanied by an adult will get free entry to the game. Prices for the rest are ?12 Adult and ?6 Concession Only the Main Stand will be used (same as the Montrose game) and Cash Gates will be in operation at both ends of the ground. Feeling quite positive about this game after Tuesdays performance and hopefully we can attract a better crowd than we got for Montrose. Who's all heading to this one?

With Massone having accepted an increased offer for his shares then it's unlikely that the SFL LMC will pursue any rule change at this time. All that remains is for the other SFL Member Clubs to decide what, if any, punishment should be imposed on Livingston for bringing the game and league into disrepute and for the new owners to agree some kind of settlement with the creditors. For the rest of Scottish Football there's a HUGE lesson to be learned on just how badly things can go wrong and why it doesn't make any sense for a club to under the control of a single person or small group of people.

What about Canned Heat - Let's Work Together? Decent enough (and recognisable) tune and appropriate lyrics.

Wrong fish.....can I throw it back?

Livingston FC
What happens with the club is irrelevant....it's the damage that's done to Scottish Football in order to get them there that is the biggest issue.

Delusions of grandeur
I never could understand the "I'm an ICT fan but I'm going to give my money to every other team in the league instead" attitude!!!

Livingston FC
Tough call....are they likely to vote against a system that will cause them a few problems borrowing, or for a system where they can run up and wipe out shed loads of debt with relative ease and no consequences??? Major shareholders/chairmen in football clubs in this country haven't exactly got a great track record when it comes to honouring the debts they generate in the name of the clubs they own/run, so I wouldn't be confident they would be doing what's right here!!!

Yes...as I said earlier :(

It means that the SFL will turn around to Massone and Livingston Football Club Ltd and tell them that they are removing their league membership. They will then pass that membership on to whatever new company is created by the fans and new investors....albeit relegating them to Div 3 in the process. That means that any creditors will only get a payment based on whatever assets currently exist at Livingston, which is next to nothing given the fact that (like us) they don't own the stadium. No CVA, No continued trading to try and work of the debt....nothing. The SFL would basically be wiping their hands of any issues and paving the way for other clubs to do the same in the future....and if they do that then you can be sure that there's very few (if any) banks who will be willing to give clubs an overdraft, or any companies willing to give them any kind of credit terms.....it's risk enough giving these things to clubs as is, but the SFL look to be proposing the removal of ANY protection a clubs creditors might have. Shocking that they are even considering it, absolutely shocking.

Looks like Livi have been given a stay of execution and if Massone doesn't sell his shares by start of the season they will be investigating a rule change to allow them to transfer the league membership to another company and will demote them to the third division. If he does sell then they get a 15 point penalty and continue in the 1st. I didn't/don't want to see Livingston go to the wall, but I think the SFL are playing with fire by even considering the option of transferring the league membership. They are doing nothing more than telling club owners that it's ok to rack up huge debts then bail because clubs will be permitted to continue regardless. It also sends the message to fans that it doesn't matter who they let run their club, as they can simply walk away from them...and any debt/problems they create at any time. IF the SFL do allow the transfer of league membership then I get a feeling they could face some serious legal challenges on past decisions where they've stated categorically that it could not be done.

Loan deals out the way
I would like to have seen us move Barrowman on before this season started, but that's probably more from the fiscal viewpoint than anything else because unless he bangs in 20+ goals then his wages just aren't worth it. In terms of ability and performance....we're starting a new season in a different league and we really don't know what's in store as the opposition will be different as well as the style of football. As has been said, we need to start the season giving EVERY player the support we gave them in the last few games of last season.....getting on their backs from the off is self defeating and just puts us on a hiding to nothing. Sanchez and Bulvitis in.
I'd rather have Bulvitis for 6 months than not have him play for us at all. This is the cherry on the cake for us as I'd thought we'd all but completed our signings for the season, so having a squad which is almost on a par (in terms of size) to last season is a bit of a boost....especially as we seem to have secured some very useful looking players. "I BELIEVE"

And then it was Hearts.....
To be honest, I'm surprised it's taken this long.... http://edinburghnews.scotsman.com/topstori...-tax.5507979.jp 8 Team Div 3 and we get our place back in the SPL?

Idea for MFR?
Do I think atmosphere would be improved by a new PA System.....Not enough to justify the expenditure. I do think there's plenty more can be done to improve the matchday experience though, and I'm constantly badgering people at the club about it personally as well as being a being a member of the Trust Board who are also keen to see improvements. I think we've gone far enough off topic on this thread now, and if you think the subject of where/how the club spends money needs discussed further then it might be best to open a separate thread for it. You (we all) also have the Boardroom Banter available as a means of putting questions to the club so you could raise the point there and get an answer from the Club Board as I can only give my opinion and understanding of things and not any "official" club stance.
