  1. Already covered in This Thread although I don't see it so much as who would I like to see move on as opposed to it being inevitable and necessary.
  2. "I wish someone had told me Charlie used to be in charge of bringing the balls"
  3. One other thing, google adsense spiders and adverts do not collect individual user data in the way that many other advertising companies do, so you can rest easy on that one.
  4. It is true that anyone can have a website these days. Many Internet Service Providers will actually give it's customers "free" space to put up personal web pages and the like but these often have many restrictions and may even be littered with their adverts earning them income so in reality they aren't really free. Perhaps if Scotty gets the time he could do a short history of all the phases this website has gone through and how it has progressed from the hosting side of things and the pro's and con's of each. The advertising side of it is pretty straight forward. We have an account with Google Adsense. We add code to the site which allows them to display their adverts and we get paid a commission. The actual amount we get for each advert varies a good bit. One thing I would like to highlight is that clicking on loads of adverts thinking your helping increase the sites revenue doesn't do us any favours. Google didn't get rich by allowing people to abuse these systems and they are quick to pick up on it if it is happening. Other than Google generated adverts we do have the function to cater for individuals/companies who may wish to advertise on the site. No matter what the size of the company or the budget they have then we can come up with a package that suits. You may have noticed adverts for the guys who donate pictures for the gallery etc, that's just our way of giving something back to them and if any company out there wants to offer something to the fans in return for an advertising slot then we are more than happy to try and facilitate them.
  5. I'm not playing your game
  6. Arachnetechnophobia - it's a new one on me :015:
  7. "Google Adsense Spiders" are just one of the many Spiders that you'll find all over the World Wide Web these days. It's not a name I like because it automatically triggers thoughts of bugs, or even worse, viruses...but that's not the case and they actually do a very important job. In short, spiders crawl the net creating indexes of all the pages and their content to allow you to be able to use search engines to locate the information your after. The "Google Adsense Spiders" have a slightly more specialised job in that they are tasked with looking at the content of a page and feeding that information back to "adsense" who then serve up (where possible) relevant adverts based on the page content.
  8. Noe foresight needed on this one IHE, the club and Brewster have already confirmed that Park will remain as assistant. No matter how it came about I actually think it was the most sensible thing for all concerned as it offers a bit of stability in the management team and Brewster, regardless of lessons learned at Dundee Utd, is still an amateur when it comes to management and will benefit greatly from having the vastly experienced and respected Parkie by his side. I would be a lot more fearful for our future had Park not remained at the club.
  9. No secret to the fact that we would be looking to shift midfield player/s in order to bring in someone else at the back. This is at least the third quote from the club since the summer saying that was the case. Regardless of what's in the kitty it makes sense to lighten the squad in that area of the park - no point paying players who are never going to get a game or aren't seen as future prospects. That would only serve to drain the bank and mean we have less cash available come the January (and future) transfer windows.
  10. I posted earlier in the thread that people should be mindful of what they are saying given that the police were involved and at least one person was arrested and possibly facing charges or an official caution. People have chosen to ignore that and I feel we are venturing into very dangerous ground with some of the remarks being made. Until I have had a chance to discuss the subject fully with Scotty then this topic remains closed.
  11. You think am feckin stupid? We all know you can't get txt messages via CB.
  12. Is that your subtle way of telling us that it would take 2 goalkeepers to replace Mikey Fraser?
  13. How could you not have recognised Bobby Wilson :029:
  14. True_Jaggy, I've left you a PM and sent you an e.mail. Can you confirm these 6 seats as definite please. Thanks K_o_B - as things stand you would be ok for a seat but I can't hold a seat empty on the way down unless your a definite for the road back up.
  15. We'll be leaving the Innes 9:30 AT THE LATEST - If people aim to be there for back of 9 then soon as we have everyone we can get away. 3 hours tops to get there gives people time to get food and drink before the game (and removes need for a stop en route). Requests for pee stops on the way down will only be honored if accompanied by the ?3 stoppage charge :015: Looks like we'll be heading for the Iona when we get there, unless the consensus changes. We'll be heading straight back up the road after the game. For future weeks I am happy to set 2 or 3 pick-up points for those who find it difficult to get into the city centre. I am also aware of the fact that we have fans en route along the A9 (Aviemore etc) and we can do pickups for them if they would like to join us. Anyone needing dropped off closer to home when we get back up the road, let me know and I'll see what can be arranged. Priority will be given to those wanting dropped back in the City Centre so as people aren't being made to hang around to get home.
  16. Statistics (if done properly) can never be disbelieved. It's the case that people try to use them to prove that often leads to dispute.
  17. As it would appear that someone has now been charged/officially cautioned people need to be mindful of what they say regarding events on Tuesday night. If you witnessed what happened then you need to get in contact with the person directly to offer up your statement and not be puting it on a public forum..
  18. Had my collar felt by the authorities once or twice maself. Never did me any harm. Grow a backbone and show some respect :tic01:
  19. We're still experiencing high visitor levels (as has been the case all week). It also appears that everyone arrived home from the match and decided to log on at the same time putting a sudden load on the server. Short of disabling half the site it's out of our hands and we'll just have to grin and bare it until things settle down again. If visitor levels remain high as we move further into the season then Scotty and I shall have to try and step up the hunt for a site sponsor and/or advertisers to fund upgraded hardware.
  20. Any points on the board would represent progress. This is a tough month and we have to draw a line under the past 3 games and look to this as the start of our season. My hopes for the next 4 games is to do enough to claw us off the bottom.
  21. Ace Security and the club parted company 48 hours before the first game of the season. Unless they are back then it would have been Rock Steady doing the stewarding.
  22. :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: :015: Is the fact Pie and Bovril is offline just a coincidence do you think?
  23. Gretna, Hibs and St Mirren the only SPL teams yet to score. Hearts only 1 up courtesy of an OG!!!
