If you seperate the quotes from the journalists padding it actually reads as if the players are remaining positive about the whole thing and have placed trust in the board to ensure they receive their just rewards when the time comes - don't think you could ask for fairer comment than that IMO.

I think the question RiG was asking was pertaining to the fact that it was intimated that the Singing Section, which would normally be open for people to move freely to and from other seats in the stadium, would in fact have tickets sold for it for the OF matches meaning you couldn't just come and go as you pleased.

Apart from what's been said already I think Paatelainen put in a good shift in the first 45 but seemed rather anonymous for most of the second half - Dean MacDonald showed some nice touches but I thought he looked a little nervous, comes across as quite a shy bloke and I'd like to see him get stuck in a bit more and use some of that bulk he has, fitness may need a bit of work also but that will come with time. Zander Sutherland looked a class above every other man on the pitch and twice as fast - twist, turn, turn, twist, twist, duck, nutmeg, pass, receive, twist, turn, bang - goalllllll!!! - He put more work in on that one play than most of the rest of the team put together during the entire match - he really is a great player to watch and if he keeps on going the way he is then I can't see CC having any option but to start giving him more games in the coming season. All in all though the game was pretty dire, but the second half entertainment behind the goals justified the £6 to get in - just wish they would bring back the terracing to the SPL so we could have the best of both worlds.

I never said we shouldn't "preach" - I said we weren't in a position to preach to others when we are doing the exact same thing in their countries. The "do as we say, not as we do" approach to world affairs is what has landed us in the mess we are in today IMO.

Although I agree with much of what is said in the statement it has one underlying flaw.....the homes many of them have left are being invaded by us telling them what they should and should not be doing there - it's a two way street and until we learn to keep our nose out in other countries then we have no place preaching to others when they come to our shores.

Caley100, I think you have made a very good point there and it was certainly not an angle that I had thought about. There are 101 different scenarios which could make up the deal, some of which would put the rest of the squad on a wage a lot closer to Niculaes with the inclusion of bonuses. The deal is done and thier is no going back on it, whether we agree with it or not we have to get behind the player, the team and the club in order to ensure we get the best from it and the coming season. We can praise the club for being ambitous or we can criticise them for taking a risk too large, but until the season is played out and we can see how things are going then we don't know if it was the right or wrong move. If it works then those who were against will say we got lucky and those who were for it will say "I told you so" - and vice versa. Isn't that half the thrill of the journey though? If we all thought the same then their would be no need for discussion, we would all be a lot less passionate and following ICT would be helluva boring. ICT have never done the "expected", they've carved out their own path and their own methods on most things, so why would they change that now - I've agreed and disagreed with more than I care to remember over the last 13 years but I wouldn't change a single moment of it and whether your for or against the Niculae signing I believe it will be one of those JFK moments in ICTs History.

Sophia, you'll need to use bigger bait than that if you want to draw me in to whatever argument your looking for - I really do have very little time for those who claim to be "in the know" and spend more time and effort covering their identity than they do making constructive contributions. You constantly harp on about the evils of this forum, yet still you hang around using it to try and serve some hidden agenda. Perhaps your one of these evangelical types who thinks your doing good work in trying to save us all, or perhaps you just get some kind of kick from constantly berating the fans who use this site....who knows???

I think that would depend on whether or not he would still be classed as a "Trialist", I'm guessing that as he has been signed subject to Work Permit that it may exclude him from playing in that capacity.

:022: :022: :022: :022: I think the above is all very positive and goes some way to settling the nerves in terms of the potential negative effect this signing could have had on the club's finances. It also highlights the commitment of Alan Savage to ICT as this is (I believe) the first real financial injection we have seen from him and you have to respect anyone willing to put their money where their mouth is - so :021: to him for that. Anyone want to bet on a capacity crowd at Clach tomorrow night?

Well there you go - the argument over should we or shouldn't we sign him looks to have been put to bed as a deal seems to have been done. Lets look to getting behind the player and playing our part in ensuring this is a huge success story for ICT.

If you knew me at all you would know that I am certainly not a "Glass Half Empty" type of person. I have been described as a "Typical Libra" which is probably closer to the truth as I can have a tendancy to over analyse things. My heart wants to see us make this signing and for everything to go great, my head is a little more cautious - it can see the benefits of this signing but is only too aware of the possible pitfalls. Scotty is spot on IMO when he says that their is a lot of nervousness surrounding this one, but I think that should it go ahead then the vast majority of the fans will be behind the player (and the club) 100%.
