  1. Had a barbecue last Tuesday which was followed by a game of rounders out the back (behind St Valery). Always amazes me how much the rules can change during even a single game. I even managed to break a pane of glass on the greenhouse, although it wasn't with the rounders ball, it was with a kids plastic football which I kicked in temper after some dodgy umpiring.

    ICT going Green

Fewer games shifted to midweek evening would mean less use of floodlights AND happier fans.
  3. What's your point caller?

  5. You really have to wonder what the terrorists are making of all this. I'm not saying that Scotland as a whole isn't taking these events seriously, but you can just envisage the Al-Qaeda PR department searching the net for articles regarding the fear and terror they have struck into the heart of the Scots only to be faced with all these images, videos, poems and one-liners about John Smeaton and basically mocking their efforts. In short I think Scotland has done what Scotland does best - they haven't let the b*stards grind us down. In fact, we've practically turned it into an excuse for a few drinks with reports that 1200 pints have been bought and paid for and wait behind the bar at the Holiday Inn for John Smeaton. It really all is a bit "Braveheart"
  6. Despite my initial reservations over the caliber and standard of player I thought ICT were capable of gaining interest from a lot of these links are very positive. Grassa and CC have certainly stepped up to the plate and it is quite possible that they will prove me wrong. If they do so then I'll happily eat some humble pie. With the addition of Dean McDonald and the possibility of a couple of foreign faces added to the mix I am rather excited about both our prospects for next season and the kind of football we will see the team producing.
  7. The club have taken pre-orders in the past.
  8. Stone - but only if my diet goes to plan :016:
  9. Here's hoping McSwegan sticks to the coaching and out of the kitchen then :015:
  10. I think this rumour was doing the rounds a few weeks back, it certainly rings a bell.
  11. I believe Mantis may have watched them play. :tic01:
  12. I knew there was a catch to this, they are Siamese Twins.
  13. I thought I heard on the news that despite the car at the hospital being connected to someone involved/being held in connection with recent events that initial forensic investigation found nothing to indicate that it had any kind of device/bomb in it? Also, I wouldn't be so hasty as to say that we had no prior intelligence. The speed by which they closed Edinburgh and Liverpool and how quickly they managed to locate houses and properties for searches and make further arrests suggests that they had some information on these people and their possible intentions. I am in little doubt that this was a serious, although poorly executed, terror attack. The only people who will know exactly who or how many they intended to injure/kill are the terrorists themselves, and despite the relatively fortunate outcome (for joe public) you can be certain they won't be viewing this as a failure. They sent the UK and North America in to a state of panic and above all else that is the objective for these people. Don't let this be turned in to some kind of game of politics, or be led down the path that an Independent Scotland would in any way be less effected. Terrorism is a world wide problem and is something we all have to be aware of. I'll also echo what Scotty said above. I too flew to the states not long after 9/11 and was extremely anxious about the whole deal. However, I was no more anxious than I was when I sailed from Hull to Zeebrugge shortly after the Zeebrugge disaster which was an accident. Things happen every day which threaten our well being - some by accident, some by design. You have 2 choices, hide yourself away in your home (which poses just as many threats every day) or get on with your life. Not saying we should ignore these threats and we all need to learn to be a little more alert to our surroundings, but if we give up and hide away then these people win.
  14. Would have been more than 10 years ago because he was only a year or two younger than me and I turn 31 in October.
  15. I used to have DVD's with Pig, Donkey, Ostrich as well as your run of the mill nag races but I'd have no idea where to start looking for them as a lot of stuff is still in boxes from when I moved back up to Inverness (5 years ago). When I get round to sorting the junk out I may well look into running a race-night or two as they are great fun and great fund raisers. Plus, with most pubs and venues having large screen TV's and DVD players these days they are far less hassle/expensive to run as you generally only need a small PA system to run the evening.
  16. As far as I am aware there is only 1 of the new away shirts in public hands with the old sponsor logo on and that is the one which was auctioned at the Supporters Trust bowling evening and was signed by all the players. Had I thought about it at the time I would likely have went higher on my bidding as the strip will be fairly unique in that sense and nobody else is likely to have the new away strip with the old sponsor. The new strips (normal and Ltd Edition) will have the new sponsor on so I fail to see where the issue is, surely you don't expect/want to get the new strip with the old sponsor???
  17. I love the guy already :021:
  18. He was a chit player anyway, never rated him :tic01:
  19. My tuppence worth :001: It's a pity you can't make the conference as you may actually be surprised by just how much action Trusts are trying to take with regard to the financial situation of their clubs. Many are slowly increasing share holdings in clubs in order to get a larger say and many are actually giving substantial sums of money to clubs with a clause on how it is spent. Some Trusts have all but taken over the Youth and Community Development at their respective clubs to remove part of the financial burden. The difficulty for Trusts as I see it is that when they invest cash in their clubs they have 2 options. They ask for shares in return and then have little say over how the money is spent as it then comes under the control of the Directors (until such time as they have a shareholding that gives them a true voice at the club) or they donate the money on the understanding it is spent in a specific way, which means they can't demand shares in return. Some clubs are far more co-operative on this front than others and are giving Trusts the best of both worlds by allowing them to finance for a specific issue and get shares. The Trust movement is gaining a lot of influence within football - some clubs are embracing this, some of them are fearful of it and seem to be fighting it to a certain extent. The one thing I am confident of, and that is that Trusts are a positive move for football, not just for it's fans but for the clubs and sport as a whole. The above is a pretty broad overview, but you have clubs on all levels of the scale. From the likes of Dundee who would have gone to the wall had it not been for their Trust - to ICT who are (at present) in the fortunate position of having formed a Trust at a time when the need for financial support of the club is practically non-existent. Morton is probably the best example off the top of my head of a Trust which, from what I can gather, has all but taken over the Youth and Community Development. Not only have they continued the efforts of the club in that regard but they have expanded it greatly. More info is available on the Supporters Direct website at http://www.supporters-direct.org/ The Magazines I mentioned in my earlier post can be downloaded at http://www.supporters-direct.org/englandwa...htm#newsletters They also have a blog at http://supportersdirect.blogspot.com/
  20. Off Topic :32: :blah01:
  21. Darn - they both called tails. We'll have to do it again. Nothing on any of the football news sites to confirm if/when an offer has been made, but the talk all seems positive and apparently Gillingham won't be asking much for the guy despite him still having a year left on his contract.

    Number Changes

My boot scootin' baby is drivin' me crazy My obsession from a western - my dance floor date My rodeo romeo, a cowboy god from head to toe Wanna make you mine better get in line 5-6-7-8 Always confuses the chit outta me when they start swapping the numbers around. 24. EPOS = Electronic Point of Sale - Which basically means he could be talking about anything from electronic turnstyles to a new cash register. The club already have an EPOS ticketing system already and it should be able to handle ticket transfers. It also only needs a minor modification to make ticket sales available online but that's a different argument :001:
