On that basis, it appears I may have been fed duff info....will look into it tomorrow if I get a chance.

Huns game is Tuesday 16th Sept, if we get through that, the Falkirk game is either Tue 23rd or Wed 24th Not sure if it's been confirmed that we (or Rangers) would be expected to play that game the following week, will see if I can get more info tomorrow.

With Champions League matches on that week the match can't be televised in any UEFA member country.

Having had a quick squint through the rules I can't find anything which makes provision for having the draw under such circumstances. The only thing I can think would be a way round it would be to replace the "Killie" and "Rangers/ICTFC" balls with "Killie/ICTFC" and "Killie/Rangers" balls....then depending on the outcome of our game delete as applicable.

Technically it was a closed doors bounce game....but that's a bit hard to enforce at Stolen Public Land Park.

The frozen pensions of Overseas ex-pat pensio
CaleyD replied to Scarlet Pimple's topic in Serious Discussion
The UK Pension Liability for those currently in receipt of benefits and those in the present workforce who will be due pensions is in excess of £7 Trillion...it makes sense to have a fund to deal with any unforeseen expenses or fluctuations and £50 Million is, in the overall scheme of things, small potatoes. The point you make about politicians is a good one....but if/when the country gets round to bringing them into check and saving money then there's still a lot of work to be done at home before I think we should be looking beyond our own borders. Am I to assume that the Canadian Government isn't equally loaded with fat cat politicians? Perhaps dealing with the problem at home would result in improved benefits from the country which you chose/choose to live and you wouldn't need to seek enhanced funds from an economy you have long since stopped contributing too? In regards the Queen....Canada pay her more per capita to her than we do in the UK. Getting ones own house in order before attacking others in that regard might be a good course of action? I'm still not going to be drawn on the military angle...everyone has their own story/reason as to why they should be more deserving than the next person and you can't have any practical system based on such arguments. -
James Vincent has been capped for England C and I think Raven has some English youth caps as well. Seem to remember talk of Vincent switching to Northern Ireland but he wasn't eligible. The James Vincent for Northern Ireland thing was an in-joke which The Sun (I think) ran with

The frozen pensions of Overseas ex-pat pensio
CaleyD replied to Scarlet Pimple's topic in Serious Discussion
Scotty, I can only assume that the UK Government see's some "value" in the agreements it has with other countries for provision of an index-linked pension for ex-pats....whether that's financial, political or whatever. I'm pretty sure they won't be doing so just for the hell of it though and each would have to be looked at individually. As you say, the cost to the UK of index linking benefits for ex-pats in Canada is prohibitive...as it would be to any ex-pat unless the UK has some kind of deal in place to offset and/or counter that cost. People move abroad for all kinds of reasons, but mostly to seek a better life for them and/or their families. If they fail to do their sums right and/or make proper provision for their old age then I do find it a bit strange that they should then seek to have a country which they no longer reside in provide them with additional benefits. It's like wanting the best of both worlds! Scarlet, If Canada didn't want to take on the burden of looking after ex-pats in their old age then they shouldn't have allowed them to migrate there in the first place. Like many countries, they welcomed the Brits with open arms because they brought skills and money which they needed in order to develop. It's Canada who has benefited....so it's Canada who should pay. In regards to your radio operator friend, he absolutely deserves to be looked after.....just the same as everyone else. I just don't buy the argument that the UK should have to pay for him and everyone else who has ever fought in a war. You'd think we were the only country to have benefited from winning WWI & WWII the way some people bang on about it and our alleged responsibilities as a result of it. I did have a quick read of the document you linked too, but found nothing in there which changed my view on the matter....quite the opposite in fact. Put simply, we don't have enough money to look after our own residents as it is, and we're not going to send more money overseas than we have too (unless there's a reciprocal agreement that counters that cost). I'd love to live in a world without borders where everyone had everything they needed and were free to wander as they please without any worries as to where the next meal was coming from or if they could afford to heat their house in winter. I no more want to see a person living out of food banks in Canada than I do in Scotland or any other part of the world. However, we don't live in a world like that and when you get down to the cold hard truth of the matter...you can hardly expect the UK to increase the pension benefits it sends abroad (with little or nothing coming back in return) whilst our own pensioners are having to do just that. -
Booo...bloody fun police strike again

I don't think Motherwell will give McCall the funds for a bid for Christie.... Motherwell don't have the funds to be bidding for anyone....was an article over the summer saying they were looking at a £400,000 shortfall for this season. Any wonder Dempster jumped ship?

The frozen pensions of Overseas ex-pat pensio
CaleyD replied to Scarlet Pimple's topic in Serious Discussion
There is no large pot of money into which contributions go and get invested/ring-fenced and given back when you retire. It's the contributions being made today (plus some) that pay for those in receipt of their pension.....i.e. the working population directly support the retired population (in regards state pension). This is why the pension argument being used by the Better Together campaigners doesn't hold water. For various reasons we can barely afford to look after...and I use that term loosely given the pittance we currently pay in state pension...those resident here who are putting the money they get back into the economy. Increasing the value of the pension for those overseas only serves to further damage our ability to pay those still at home. In regards to reciprocal agreements....there has to be value in it for both parties. I can only assume that the Canadian Government isn't willing to put enough on the table to make such an agreement worthwhile for the UK....which brings me right back to the point that the issue needs to be taken up with them. -
I don't like to disagree dad, but I'm not having this. Mulgrew, Commons and Griffiths are all established Scotland players. Ambrose was at the world cup, Zaluskas, Pukki, Bitton and Johansen have all played for their countries. Even one of the subs (MacGregor) has just got a call up so this was no "severely weakened" team. Celtic have a massive squad who I presume train together day in day out in various permutations. In the second half, we passed them off the park. Not my point of view but that of a significant portion of the media - usually grudging in their praise who are recognising that the style of play, regardless of the manager, is attractive and beginning to show signs of being successful. If you think that this is as good as it gets because that's where we are settled at and others will progress as far can I suggest that this team are still learning, we have Foran to return if required and we will improve. Perhaps you recognise this point in your final sentence, but they seem opposing points of view. You are correct in saying that Brill was excellent, but had we converted chances from Tansey, Ross and Christie (all of which were narrowly missed) and got a stonewall penalty in the first half, your score analysis would have been turned on it's head. There was criticism of the performance against Dundee, but I'm not sure that you can call it significant. We drew against a team that set out to defend for 80 odd minutes and did so very well. We didn't lose the game and had the lions share of pressure. The only thing lacking in the performance was a goal. Is that worthy of "significant" criticism? On the subject of eating humble pie, does that really need to be done? We are all ICT fans here. Sure Hughes was "given time" by some last year and this years judgement point seems to be slipping from October to Christmas to the end of the season, which is where it should have been all along. Even if we lose to Kilmarnock on Saturday, my personal viewpoint won't change. It certainly won't change any more than it did about Butcher's team that was dismantled by St. Johnstone at a similar time of last season, although that display showed how tactically limited we were at the time and was more worthy of concern than any result this season. I'm glad you enjoyed the game, so did I. However, I wish that more than 5600 or so had enjoyed it. We (the regulars, the committed fans etc.) need to be shouting this from the rafters to get more bodies into the stadium to get behind the team, bolster the finances and allow us to kick on. One final point, remember the last time we played a "weakened" Celtic team - we got cuffed because we didn't have the belief that we could beat them. Sure do now. What he said.

Not sure of the final outcome (if there is one yet) or if this will happen, but I do know for certain that it was being looked at and discussions were being had.

The frozen pensions of Overseas ex-pat pensio

Sorry, but if you have decided to move abroad and are no longer contributing to the economy from which you are claiming a pension, then I don't see why you should expect to benefit from any improvements in said economy beyond the point that you leave. You are effectively removing your money and using it to support a foreign economy, perhaps it is your new home country/economy you should be looking to since they are the ones benefiting from you spending it there. -
Just been busy and not had a chance to pull through the highlights from the SPFL YouTube Channel. Take a look on https://www.youtube.com/spfl

...and if we're winning when you're not there....don't be heading to TCS either

The obvious/witty answer to that would land me in so much trouble.....

I think football has created a problem that it will likely never rid itself of due to segregation. In any other sport you can go along to the game, mingle with opposition fans before, during & after without any real hassle (always get the odd incident, but segregation doesn't stop that anyway). For years football fans have been told "we can't put you together because you're all animals and can't be trusted". As a result people have started to conform to that assessment and even the hint that there's an opposition fan in the "home end" (or vice versa) sends them over the edge....probably doing more to create a problem than if they just ignored it and concentrated on cheering their own team along. Wearing a football shirt and waving a scarf isn't a criminal offence and isn't something that should be deemed offensive...so what does it matter where they/we/anyone does it? If they are causing REAL aggro, then they should be treated the exact same as any home fan in the home end should be treated if they do the same. Is it not better to show a bit of the Highland Hospitality that we're famous for by taking a "live and let live" approach? Demonstrate to the authorities who put these ridiculous rules in place that football fans are perfectly capable of getting along....just like the fans of every other sport? Even better still...use it as an excuse to get up and make more noise to try and drown them out. Imagine the atmosphere we could generate at games if fans did that instead of sitting there getting all offended over nothing!!!

Marsella is the type of guy who'd go watch 2 drunks kicking a can down the street if he didn't have a game he could be at....so wouldn't read anything into him being at our game yesterday.

What was (is) throwing me is that the intro is fine. As the video is rendered out with both intro and video together it should be uniform when uploading....however it was only dropping the right track for the video part of the file on upload (rendered file definitely stereo). Have stepped up the bitrate on the audio when rendering and it's now uploading with a fully working stereo track for the whole video. Appreciate the feedback....and (fingers crossed) future videos shouldn't have the same issue. We do sometimes have to use mono (our handheld mics are mono), but that should/will be on both channels.
