  1. It should be remembered that the 3,141 earlier in the season was on a Wednesday night. Using that as the 'control'; a Saturday game against the same opposition and in the same competition should elicit a higher turnout. Factor in the 'pay-what-you-can' initiative, and I'd suggest the 3,556 attendance was disappointing.
  2. Free-scoring Turriff United midfielder, Andrew MacAskill has emigrated to Australia! He's taken-up a coaching/playing position with a club in Brisbane. An obvious blow for Turriff, but good luck to him.
  3. 4. Does the supplier determine the cost of the pies sold at grounds? Or is there some input from the club involved? I completely appreciate that there should be a sliding-scale tariff to attend games - with admission to our Premiership matches being significantly higher than that charged for Clach's Highland League games. However, If for example, Harry Gow supplied ICT's and Clach's pies - surely the humble pie should be the same price regardless of location it's being bought? Is it justifiable to charge £2.50 at the Premiership game and only £1.50 (for example) at the Highland League game - for the same product?
  5. I agree! Piping-hot stovies is ideal for burns!
  6. Tarmo Kink is on the move again! After leaving us he headed home to former club, Levadia Tallinn. He's now been 'snapped up' by Finnish champions, SJK.
  7. John-Christophe Ayina has been signed by Newport County.
  8. The most recent 'Price of Football' study shows that the pies on sale at the Caledonian Stadium are the 3rd (equal) most expensive in Scottish football - behind Rangers and Hibs. The cheapest is at Elgin (£1). http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34507719
  9. East Kilbride 2-0 Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale Edit: just hearing that EK v Celtic will be at New Douglas Park, Hamilton. Still to play: Dundee v Falkirk Forfar Athletic v Linlithgow Rose Last -16 - (ties are on Saturday 6th February at 3pm, unless stated): Rangers v Kilmarnock (12.30pm) Annan Athletic v Greenock Morton Dumbarton v Dundee or Falkirk Dundee United v Partick Thistle Motherwell v Inverness Caledonian Thistle Ross County v Forfar Athletic or Linlithgow Rose Heart of Midlothian v Hibernian (Sunday 7th at 12.30pm) East Kilbride v Celtic (Sunday 7th at 3pm - New Douglas Park, Hamilton)
  10. Alternatively, if that had been a speculative strike from a Stirling player, and had found its way into our net, I'd be casting an eye at our 'keeper.
  11. The injured players. Thread here: http://caleythistleonline.com/topic/30199-risky-strategy/ He refused to deny he'd questioned the players' 'character' when specifically ask the 'loaded' question during interviews before/after the game yesterday, but obviously no names given. Doran? Putting the weight on with little incentive to rush back - no Cup Final soon! Meekings? Remarkable coincidence if his Twitter retort wasn't referring to the just recently published quotes from Hughes' press conference. Foran? Lack of motivation to return after signing an improved 3-year-deal plus a youth-coaching brief, then virtually sitting-out the next two-years? The consensus from the media pundits was that he's simply trying to get a reaction from the players, but that he's sometimes too 'honest' and shouldn't be 'washing our dirty linen in public'! He's also clearly irked with David Raven for some reason. Like every other club, there will be dynamics in the dressing-room - players/management come-and-go. It won't always/ever be totally harmonious. Every player states their new club is the most 'tight-knit, with the best bunch-of-guys, the happiest dressing-room etc" - it's just platitudes. Shinnie claimed such after we won the cup - but, incredibly, a fortnight later, all of the above attributes were the preserve of Aberdeen!
  12. League positions don't lie. They're a very limited team. Relegated from the 3rd tier last season, they're mid-table currently in the bottom league. Elgin are better than them!
  13. It was simply 'job done' last night! We move on to the 'Last-16' stage. Motherwell away. Looking at the draw - Motherwell - there were certainly better possible ties - but that applies to both teams! Still to play: East Kilbride v Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale Dundee v Falkirk Forfar Athletic v Linlithgow Rose Last -16 - (ties are on Saturday 6th February at 3pm, unless stated): Rangers v Kilmarnock (12.30pm) Annan Athletic v Greenock Morton Dumbarton v Dundee or Falkirk Dundee United v Partick Thistle Motherwell v Inverness Caledonian Thistle Ross County v Forfar Athletic or Linlithgow Rose Heart of Midlothian v Hibernian (Sunday 7th at 12.30pm) East Kilbride or Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale v Celtic (Sunday 7th at 3pm)
  14. I agree with that DD. It's very tight. 4th place (and potentially European qualification) is as much a possibility as relegation the play-off...we're just 4 points away from either! By definition, we're equidistant from both scenarios. It would be negative to suggest we're only in the relegation-mix without acknowledging that 4th-place is also a possibility; and similarly it would be silly to suggest that while Europe is a target, relegation is unlikely - both possibilities remain alive, as we approach the season-defining part of the season. We need to make the next 3 league games count - unusually, all are at home. That will take us to the 25 game mark - approx. 3/4 of the way through the 'regular' season. We can then re-evaluate our situation ahead of the 8 remaining fixtures to the split...but, I think, 6 of those are away! It's all-to-play-for!
  15. Wednesday 20th at 1.30pm (Highland Football Academy) Inverness CT v Rangers
  16. I too am glad! Don't have to 'worry' about goal 2,000, for around 7 or 8 years! The breakdown of goals: League: 1,237 Scottish Cup: 123 League Cup: 93 Challenge Cup: 47 Europe: 0 Although, largely irrelevant, It would have been ironic if say, Dani Lopez had notched it before he left the club. But, all 3 milestone goals have been scored by players who have been significant contributors for us; Xausa (500th), Munro (1,000th) and now Draper (1,500th).
  17. Adam Rooney netted for Aberdeen in Dingwall this afternoon. Another penalty. (F/T: County 2-3 Dons)
  18. He obviously photoshoped it! Without any such doctoring, this is what it looked like!
  19. Ross Draper!! Well done to him! He doesn't score many, but he's notched the milestone goal! One for pub quizzes nowhere. except perhaps the Innes!
  20. I had never heard of Raigmore House before accidentally stumbling on it here! Cheers, IHE for posting the picture. I like your 'location' break-down, Scotty - it certainly sounds correct. I'd be interested to learn more about this old facility, though, if anybody has any info. Is it a rather-well-kept-secret, or am I just showing my ignorance!
  21. Apparently, It's Raigmore House. I say 'apparently' because I didn't know where it was and saved the picture to my PC, intending to zoom in. The default caption on saving, contained the words 'Raigmore House'! Seemingly it was demolished in the '60s but had been an important, strategic nerve-centre for the RAF during WW2 - and even had an underground bunker.
  22. Pure speculation here from me. If the 19% figure is correct, and using Yngwie's figures from above, Alexander Catto's 5% plus Scotlog Sales Ltd's 14% = 19% In actual number of shares, this would be 140,000 plus 433,950 = 573,950 shares. Precisely the figure Tyrone Smith quoted. Also, the 19% share would leave the Hospice as the second biggest shareholder behind the 24% held by the 'Trust' - again consistent with what's been reported. But, as I'm using peoples names here without any supporting evidence, no inference should be drawn from what my simply be an arithmetic coincidence.
  23. Kick Off times confirmed: (ties are on Saturday 6th February at 3pm, unless stated): Rangers v Kilmarnock (12.30pm) Annan Athletic v Greenock Morton Dumbarton v Dundee or Falkirk Dundee United v Partick Thistle Motherwell v Inverness Caledonian Thistle or Stirling Albion Ross County v Forfar Athletic or Linlithgow Rose Heart of Midlothian v Hibernian (Sunday 7th at 12.30pm) East Kilbride or Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale v Celtic (Sunday 7th at 3pm)
