  1. What about Les Fridge?!
  2. Source ? Just the general social networks (I know I know!)! Hence the reason I said "rumours"!
  3. Rumours going round that compensation between Barnsley and ICT has been agreed. Sounds like Terry Butcher and Maurice Malpas have left the building.
  4. My original post was in answer to somebody agreeing with somebody else that the club should make the red and blue stripes a permanent fixture. This followed on from the discussion about what the club's image should be. For many clubs, the home shirts and their design is an important part. It was pretty obvious that I was talking about the home kit and it, as Scottish club's kits go, is unique is the sense that no other Scottish league club has it as their home shirt (while others may have as an away kit or have had it in the past they are not uniquely identified by it). I think some people just like arguing about nothing!
  5. Any right thinking person knew what I meant. It really wasn't a hard concept to grasp. You can't be being pedantic though...no that cannot be right at all.
  6. So people are discussing the club's shirt/identity and expressing a view of having a unique design for the home shirts. Aye, it really is a mystery which one they were talking about!
  7. hmmm have a look at their away kit Hmmm I think it's clear people are taking about the home shirt...
  8. People are reporting on Twitter that Butcher has agreed to take the Barnsley job, if he is allowed Malpas as assistant. Make of that what you will. Edit - The Telegraph are also saying this. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/barnsley/9786293/Terry-Butcher-set-for-for-Barnsley-job-if-he-can-take-Maurice-Malpas-with-him.html
  9. He played for Bradford for a while I believe and was involved in the Iceland set-up as well I think.
  10. I think there's a bit of an elephant in room here that everyone has missed. Last week, when the Barnsley job came up, Butcher was mentioned as a possible choice and on all the odds lists, was fairly high. He quickly ruled himself out of the running and disappeared from the odds list. Now all of a sudden he's back in the running, is going to speak to Barnsley again, is now the bookies favourite and has spoken to them before today, where they had a "positive chat". If he was going to rule himself out of the running, why didn't he do it there and then? Sounds to me like he's interested. He'd be foolish to leave though, particularly in the current position that the club is in. I've no idea how good a manager Foran would be, but sometimes, in any job, promoting a fellow colleague to a position where he has authority over his former workmates is a bad decision. I'm not sure he'd be offered the job anyway, or even if he has the qualifications to do so.
  11. He probably shouldn't have been hired in the first place. He obviously had the type of players to play a possession based style and chose not too (attendances also dropped significantly a couple of months into Butcher's reign, with the style of football being played the main reason given as to why). And it's not just that. His public comments about a country he'd only just arrived in rather poor taste. He criticised the newspapers, the standard of football, even the quality of coffee. Career suicide in a country like that. It's pretty clear why he wasn't given more time. No board would want a man who was unsuccessful and conducted himself in such a poor manner!
  12. BBC just said they've already had a "positive chat" with Butcher. Sounds like he's interested to me.
  13. That's simply not true. Sydney had won both the A League Championship the season before under a possession-based attacking style enforced by their then manager Pierre Littbarski. Butcher came in, in his first press conference declared that Sydney would be the "grinders of Australian football" and well...punted Sydney's passing style in favour of the more traditional English hit and hope, a style Australian football had been attempting to rid itself off for a number of years. Butcher represented the exact opposite of what had been wrong with Australian football for the previous few decades. He also didn't exactly endear himself to the fans or the media at all. Saying he wasn't given enough time, without looking the facts of his time there, is incorrect.
  14. Barnsley to interview Butcher within the next 48 hours and are saying they got a "good vibe" from him. Sounds to me like he applied/is interested in the job. And it sounds to me like he's offski.
  15. It's often said that the bookies are seldom wrong. I was looking at the odds for the next Barnsley manager yesterday and Butcher wasn't even on the list. Overnight he becomes the 8/13 favourite! Maybe they know something we don't....
  16. Hence the reason I said "apparently" lol!
  17. Apparently, Sky Sports are reporting that if Butcher is appointed manager, he'll be taking Billy McKay with him.
  18. The worst that could happen would be Malpas getting the job! His managerial record's horrific!
  19. He didn't leave Motherwell for Brentford. His contract finished at Motherwell and moved to Sydney at the start of the following season. He got the Brentford job a few months after being sacked. I wonder (if he does go) who'd be the replacement. Paul Sheerin maybe? Alan Moore at Morton? Or maybe even this guy -
  20. He'd be a fool to leave for Barnsley IMO.
  21. If it was a Crystal Palace/Cardiff/Ipswich type of team, I think he'd probably go and in the case of Ipswich, definitely would. Can't see him going to somewhere like Barnsley at this point in time though.
  22. Josh Magennis's Twitter seems to suggest that Devine has properly signed. Also rumours that Chris Burke's coming in on loan and Richard Brittain's coming in as well. Both probably a load of rubbish (the rumours not the players!).
  23. Says on their own website that they had invested on improving the drainage. "The Undersoil heating was installed succesfully and at the same time the soil was excavated and regraded to improve root growth and drainage" http://www.rosscountyfootballclub.co.uk/the-club/profile.aspx Dear oh dear, the evidence really is starting to build up against our neighbours to the north. The SPL need to investigate these liars/incompetent (delete as appropriate) simpletons ASAP. Hopefully this will thus lead to Hearts and Inverness being awarded 3-0 victories.
  24. They definitely do have covers because we used to borrow them occasionally before we got ours. In saying that, unless they have got new ones, the old ones no longer fit as they widened the pitch in the summer....but ours would fit and they know they can borrow them from us if needed. However, as I said above, from talking to one or two people it seems covering the pitch would make no difference due to the nature of the issue. They may have had them in the past. They don't have them now. I was out the night before the cup game and their itch was covered According to the ground staff at Dingwall they don't have waterproof covers. Apparently though, what they do have though are covers which are there to help with the undersoil heating. They aren't waterproof though.
