Our worst ever players in the SPL?
IIRC none of the aforementioned players were let go because of relegation, in fact most were let go before that. The likes of Ridgers, Soane, Kerr and MacDonald were not U-19s when the were punted, they were in fact, in the reserve squad, and in the case of Kerr were regularly on the bench.

Who Is More Important to ICT?
I believe that should Rooney go, he could be replaced. Hayes on the other hand, would be very difficult to do so.

Our worst ever players in the SPL?
Here's a few more to throw in, Ally Ridgers. Two spells with ICT, racking up a grand total of zero appearances. Brought back to ICT by CC from Clach to be back-up for Fraser just after Brown left. Apparently was a pretty poor keeper. Stuart Soane - On the bench a couple of times, has disappeared into the mists of time since. Ally MacDonald - On the bench a couple of times during season 07/08. Disappeared like Soane since. Guy Kerr - Played about five minutes against Gretna, at some small club in the SFL now. And here's maybe a bit of a controversial one, but Richard Hastings went IMO from being a very good left back in season 06/07 to being a fairly poor one from 07/08 onwards. Butcher didn't seem to take to him either.

MERGED: Rooney Transfer ???
Some in the know have informed me that Rooney was not at Hibs for a medical today and it is very very unlikely that he'll move to another Scottish club. I have also been informed that there is a good chance he will be here till the end of the season, but if he does go somewhere it will not be to another Scottish club.

If this is true, I think the Caley Curse will strike again!

Our worst ever players in the SPL?
Steve Watt was a bit of a funny one. Apparently he was highly rated by Mourinho at Chelsea but didn't seem to get a look in under Brewster and only played once against Arbroath. Funnily enough I remember him that day and thought he looked fairly solid indeed. As mentioned, Dean McDonald was rubbish. Too fat, too slow, all he did was plod around and wave at us! Maybe we shouldn't count this guy as he never officially played in the SPL, but I for one remember an away friendly trip to Dingwall a couple of years back and seeing none other than the mighty Giany Joinville in ICT colours. God, he was horrible! If you thought Lionel vs County last season was bad, then this was worse! And here's another, perhaps more controversial person to add to the list. I don't care what anyone says, and just forget his first pre-SPL spell here, but Dennis Wyness was awful in his second spell. I remember times when CC played a forward line of him and McAllister and it was literally like playing with no strikers at all. It's a shame really, by Wyness MK2 has to be up there for me.

Sounds like Keano's been booted!

MERGED: Rooney Transfer ???
I'm sure he very well could do, as he's excellent inside the box, outside not so much and that's why he needs players of a certain mould, but not both the same, to compliment the aspects of his game.

MERGED: Rooney Transfer ???
Ah, but how much of a proven goalscorer is he without Hayes and Foran around him? He's very much part of a very effective three man attack for ICT, but with a piece missing, in particular Johnny Hayes, how good is he?

Am I the only person who thinks that Rooney isn't really worth ?100,000?

Ideas For Niall Doncaster:
Impose a rule on the amount of foreign players in a team as well as focusing money on youth development not on foreign rejects. Scrap the "Win at all costs" mentality of youth coaching and teach how to play the game with a focus on technical ability.

ICT say "NO" to leagues of 10.
Some are saying that "meaningless" games are a reason as to why a bigger SPL is a bad idea. I for one disagree with view. While some may be less keen to go to these, that will not turn so many away as the lack of attacking, entertaining football that we lack in this country. If there were more "meaningless" games, then that could encourage a more attacking and open style of football being played in the this county, along with an opportunity to play some more younger players to give them more match experience, especially with good tactical ability. In a 10 team SPL, there'll be more "must not lose" games with teams playing defensive football and little opportunity or excuse to play younger players. This will indeed also hurt as the national team as it's likely that reject foreigners will get a game over local ones. More "meaningless" games could give the opportunity for a young starlet to show off the talent he has, where as a smaller SPL would certainly give less opportunity. Teams may also find in the long run that "meaningless" games may in the end not be so meaningless after all.

MERGED: Rooney Transfer ???
What happened to Garry O'Conner apart from making a shitload of money and getting a move to the EPL despite failing to score or even run very much? If i was advising Rooney i'd be telling him to take the Russian money while he can. His family hated it so left quite quick.

I agree with Johan!

MERGED: Rooney Transfer ???
I don't think that bid is for ICT, rather of the contract for Rooney himself.
-
MERGED: Rooney Transfer ???
Going by this article, I wouldn't be surprised to see him knock back the Russians after what happened to Garry O'Conner. Still, I wouldn't be surprised to see him offski but for him, that could be the greatest mistake he could make.

Of course he isnt going anywhere but theres no doubt some questions need answered. Indeed that is true. Why should Butcher be immune from criticism?

St Johnstone -V- ICT : Matchday Thread
If this was a home game I could understand Butcher swapping things around as it's clear for all to see that that needs fixing. Changing a lot of things for an away game (where ICT played a system that is proven to work) to me seems a little strange.

My guess is - Esson Tokely Innes Munro Shinnie Duff Cox Odhiambo Blumenshtein Ross Rooney Bit of a weird line up I reckon and what does Butcher have against Duncan? He seems to drop him for the slightest things.
