  1. The more this drags the more likely he is to stay IMO.
  2. McLean wouldn't surprise me. Butcher took him in on loan from Rangers when he was at Motherwell.
  3. I must say, I always rated him. Remember seeing him in his only game against Arbroath and thought he looked the business. Seemed to be one of County's better players as well. A bit injury prone but a good centre half.
  4. How much will Neil Lennon get fined for his behaviour last season?
  5. Here's something from the Courier a few weeks ago:
  6. He always said he wouldn't discount a return to management so who knows. Did he not apply for the manager's job when Brewster got sacked?
  7. I have to agree with the above poster. Something is afoot at ICT, and that something may not be good. There's something going on and it seems to be between player X, player Y and player Z against Butcher. This is going to run and run I reckon. When was the last time you heard of a/or former club captain, established, experienced and consistently played player getting the boot? Never. This will be the catalyst for what happens next.
  8. What I'm a bit confused about, is which deal did he actually turn down? Did he reject the offer to add another to his current contract which was an option and has since turned down a second deal? Or is this another thing altogether? I must say though, these one year deals cause nothing but trouble. We seem to go through the same thing every year!
  9. I reckon the best way to play Tade would be as a super sub kind of player. Picture the scene: Johnny Hayes has run amok, and thus tired out the old ramshackled defence of the opposition. Twenty minutes left and on comes big Gregory (how he can run at the speed he does given his build is a mystery!) to finally finish them off. Now THAT sounds like a plan.
  10. I'm sure I read somewhere that when he signed his one year deal last year, he had the option of activating another year once he played enough games, which presumably was just an extension of what he had before and I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that was activated just after the season ended. Edit - According to this article from June 1st, it says that he is "close to agreeing terms". This is two weeks after the departure of Munro and Duncan. Has something happened between him and Butcher in the last two weeks? It is not an impossibility.
  11. Gillet was already quite keen on staying put apparently.
  12. I'm pleased about this. I reckon he could turn out be quite a good signing.
  13. Yes, that's the one I was referring too.
  14. I see Blatter is now bringing in none other than Henry Kissinger to sort things out! The thing is though, unlike Vietnam, this couldn't get much worse!
  15. If McIntyre wants to play Barrowman as a target man then he'll simply fail from the beginning. That was the mistakes Brewster made with him. Barrowman is the kind of guy who works best in a partnership where he can finish off the moves of others - in a sort of creator/finisher kind of role. It should also be noted that when he was scoring for fun for County in Division 2, he regularly played in a 4-3-3, feeding off the work of others. If he is to have any success at Dunfermline, they'll have to play that way. If they don't, he and they will fail once more.
  16. Obviously the reason he never played for County or Liverpool was due to the fact that he was still a very young player at the time. Also, he did not go to Airdrie after being released from Liverpool, he in fact actually went to Fulham, but again was still probably not expected to break into the first team at that point. IMO he could of/would of gone to play at a very high level but he has had a terrible time with injuries - that it what is "amiss". I don't for one second doubt his ability though, as he's probably one of, if not the best youth player I have ever seen.
  17. Would it not be logical to arrange the Ross County friendly to the pre-season, even if it was moved to Dingwall.
  18. Niall Calder According to this link, Niall Calder sat on the bench with his dad for a game against Partick in 2002. He was 15 at the time.* * - That also leads me on to mention that a couple of seasons ago, a player (now disappeared by the looks of things) named Connor Rennie was mentioned in the press as the youngest ever player to be part of the ICT squad at 16. If the info about Niall Calder is true, then this accolade is then false.
  19. I'm sure I read somewhere that Jim Calder and his son Nial were both in the same squad once, in fact I think they sat on the same bench.
  20. McAllister?
  21. I hope so. He's a great little player.
  22. From what I gather he is more of a central player like Ian Black than a winger like Hayes. Sounds like a good prospect mind.
  23. Unless ICT split the team in half and play two games at once, as they have done before.
  24. Had a look at the list of out of contract players just now and a couple of names stood out. The main one that stood out was the American striker Eddie Johnson. Numerous caps for the USA but seemed a bit in and out at Fulham. I don't know what wages he'd be after but he is a big, fast forward that ICT could do with, especially with Rooney possibly being away. Would he come though, that's the thing. No harm in looking mind. Another one I noticed who'd been released was the big New Zealand striker Rory Fallon. Just been released by Plymouth but I do seem to recollect him being quite good at the last World Cup.
  25. I see Gavin Skelton has been released by Hamilton. Would he be a player worth looking at? Quite experienced in this country but is he a bit past it by now?
