We tried to bring Stokes in when we sold Christie but his wage demands were extortionate, which they would continue to be even if he was released. Can't see him turning out for us anytime soon to be honest.

Scottish Cup 2016 - our defence of the trophy!
Renegade replied to Sneckboy's topic in Caley Thistle
I'd like to avoid Dunfermline, especially away. A banana skin if there ever was one! -
I can remember his loan spell at ICT. Played in Brewster's first game back, a 3-1 win over Arbroath. Looked half decent and then never seen again!
-
I always thought Steve Paterson looked quite like former SSP MSP Colin Fox.
-
It was mentioned on Off The Ball the other week that Josh Meekings and Annabel Goldie are the doubles of one another. A quick Google search reveals this to be scarily accurate! There must be a few others out there.

I saw Baptie play quite a bit in the pre-season and reserve games and he really looked a player - certainly not much behind Shinnie when he was that age. He also had the fact he can play at centre-half and take a good free kick on his side as well. From what I gather though he was always back home in Edinburgh. Maybe he doesn't have the drive to make it as this level then.

IMO we looked far more defensively comfortable with a back 5 than a back 4 at Motherwell. I also felt after Raven was sent off the other week we looked better with a back 3. Heck, when we conceded, it was only after going back to a back 4! I've never been a believer that because something didn't work once (in this case the 3-4-2-1 - not the formation I'm advocating) we should never use it again. This Celtic side is as mediocre defensively as it's been for years. A 5-3-2 with two strong quick strikers in Storey and Sho-Silva putting them under constant pressure could well see them crack and three centre-backs would see us give two wing backs the freedom to get forward. A five man defence does not mean that we should be playing defensive football, it just enables another way to attack.

We saw out the game at Motherwell with a back 5 and it worked very well. I was impressed again with Horner at Partick and I've really liked Williams playing as a wing back this season. The 3-4-2-1 didn't work very well, but I think a system with two attacking wing backs (which has always suited us) and two strong, quick strikers means that we'd could do some damage to Celtic especially on the break as well as being defensively solid. Bringing Draper back in would also free up Tansey a lot more.

I echo what other posters have said. Some good passages of play and spells of dominance, yet there's times where we lose control of the game altogether. Like what the others said, I couldn't understand taking Storey off and why Draper wasn't brought on earlier is a mystery, especially when it was clear we needed someone strong to win the ball in midfield and James Vincent was having a very poor game, Polworth looked decent again though. Sho-Silva did look sprightly when he came on, but he did touch the ball much? Aside from the moment he can should've spun and shot, I don't really remember really having the ball at all. By the way, has anyone looked at the thread on P&B? A certain poster is being very tedious......again. No prizes for guessing who!- 41 replies

I think Wyness was coming to the end of his time at this level. I know he then went to St Mirren, but he'd been looking a bit past it for quite a while the last couple of seasons as well as suffering from quite a bad shoulder injury. Wilson maybe had another season in him and could've been a decent player for us in the First Division, but he was coming to the end as well. I don't really think McCaffrey or Bayne could be described as legends. Good players yes, but not legends. On the subject of Lopez, a lot of people seem to be picking up on the belief that it's first offence (should he be sacked). We don't really know if that's true of course. I'm sure there's been plenty of bust-ups and what not behind the scenes over the years that've never come to light. Perhaps if the club do give him his jotters, it might be due to a culmination of things that we don't know about.
-
Think I'm right in saying that Lopez will be banned on Saturday after getting sent off in the reserve game tonight. I'd guess it'd be more if it is deemed violent conduct. Seemingly some of the Saints players were claiming Lopez spat at one of them. Revolting behaviour if true.

I can't recollect an away game at Tynecastle I've been to where I couldn't buy tickets at the turnstiles.

Scottish Cup 2016 - our defence of the trophy!
Renegade replied to Sneckboy's topic in Caley Thistle
I may be wrong, but did we not play Annan away in the cup in the Steve Paterson days? I was sure we horsed them about 7-1 or something as well with them taking the lead. -
Paul Edwards - Seemingly a left back/winger who had 'electric' pace. A product of the Man City youth system, he went on to play for amongst others Doncaster, Swindon and Blackpool before coming to ICT on trial in the summer of 2010 after leaving Port Vale. After leaving us with no deal signed, he later had three spells at Barrow, a loan spell at Mansfield and a season at Fleetwood. Now 35, looks like he hasn't had another club since leaving Barrow last year. Presume he's retired. Looking up a couple of others, it seems Liam Molesworth is back at Bromsgrove, while Prince Rajcomar is playing in the Dutch second tier with MVV Maastricht. Sean Evans is now at Newtown in the Welsh Premier Division. I also see Oliver Norburn has yet to find a club (though was at some point in a relationship with some girl off Waterloo Road!). Strange no-one's picked him up as I thought he looked a decent player.

They should've asked the ICT Loyal Army Facebook page IMHO. The bastion of intellect.

Some folk may remember that in the U20 squad we used to have a player named Hayden Hollinger (whose name makes him sound more like a surfer than a footballer!). I see he's now playing the college football team (where I presume he also studies) of Hartwick College in New York State. IIRC he isn't the first ex-ICT player to move to America to study. I'm sure our former third choice keeper (behind Mark Brown and Michael Fraser) Jonathan Smith moved over there as well.
-
That'll be the same guy I saw playing at Grant Street. Played 90 minutes and didn't do anything. Hardly touched the ball.

-
Luke Denson - A left back who came on trial from Colwyn Bay in 2012. Seems to have left the Bay for Chester (presumably around the same time Danny Williams was there) a few months after his trial with us, before eventually moving to AFC Flyde. Seemingly he's now back at Colwyn Bay, who play in the Northern Premier League (along with Salford City).
-
We're the odd team out this week. Nothing to stop the club arranging a bounce game though. They've done it in the past.
-
We weren't lucky at all - always in control and could well have scored more than four. One of our best performances for quite a while.
