I presumed Ferguson missed the game due to playing against Halkirk the night before. Chances are he'll be on the bench tomorrow I reckon.
-
He's a hard worker and scores goals. Always looked dangerous whenever I saw him. I'd be willing to take a punt.

Fon Williams Raven Draper Devine Tremarco Williams Polworth Tansey------------------Vigurs Christie Mutombo Subs - Esson, Lopez, Weddernburn, Horner, Sutherland, Ferguson, Vincent* *If Vincent isn't fit, bring Brown in. With a depleted squad, I wonder if a back five, with wing-backs is the way to go. Harsh to drop Horner but I felt Vigurs adds a different dynamic to the squad. Not harsh to drop Lopez though.

I see Mikael Antoine-Curier is on trial at Dunfermline. I'd take him.

Found an interview here from when he signed for Cheltenham. Notice at one point he says he can play 'up-front, in the hole or out wide'. I've read somewhere that he can at right wing back as well. Going from what his previous clubs have said about him, they do seem to speak fondly of him. Seemingly his pace and work rate is really good.

I'm actually quite optimistic about this signing. He's a good passer of the ball and he and Christie could well give us the penetration in the final third that we haven't to that standard since Andrew Shinnie left. He winds up the thicker section of our support as well and that's always a good thing. I see you've mastered how to put pictures into posts. Good for you.

I see some clubs (especially those who are sponsored by alcohol and gambling firms) bring out sponsorless kits at times. Will we ever do that? I think the new away kit is pretty smart but I wouldn't fancy going to games with Subway written across me.

I see Paul Heffernan is being linked with QOTS. Could be a the type of player who could do well with us? I always thought he looked a decent player at Killie.
-
I thought the whole team spirit thing was a big deal with us. First Iain Vigurs and now Derek Riordan, who next? Dougie Imrie and Andre Blackman?!

From what I've read, he had a metal plate in his foot that flared up or something during the early on in pre-season training. Butcher said he'd be open to bringing him back but I've never heard of him again. I can only presume he's out of football now. Another ICT fan did tell me that they'd heard somewhere that he actually was a very good player but I can only guess his football days have ended.

I remember a couple of seasons ago, after the likes of Greenhalgh, Watkins etc. had been signed, the squad numbers list was put out by the club and number 18 was left blank. This was after photos of the training session had shown Harry Hooman (whatever happened to him!?) wearing that on his gear and prior to the announcement that he had been released (the shortest signing ever?). We knew something was up though prior to the announcement because he didn't appear on the list despite being signed. Looking at the list again this year, I see there's no number 18 again. Now I know Mutombo took 28 and Fon Williams 25 but I can only presume that they are numbers particularly chosen by them. Does the lack of a number 18 (when we have a number 19,20 and 22 - 13 is usually never taken for some reason) suggest that there always has been another player coming in on the cards? It might do you know.

I was thinking the same actually, however being left footed I was wondering whether Yogi sees him as a potential back-up to Tremarco also? I might be wrong here, but I'm sure prior to Vigurs breaking into our first team, he fairly regularly played at left-back in the reserves. There certainly would be a case for playing a technically gifted player in that position with our type of football.
-
I did. There was talk he'd be offered a deal earlier in the year. It was also mentioned on Over The Bridge recently, where someone claimed that Vigurs had told them in person that ICT had offered him a contract but he wasn't keen on a return. I, like a lot of other people, was disappointed when Vigurs was released, but Butcher never seemed to take to him and there was talk of a fairly cold relationship between the two. What I would find strange would be us bringing in another central midfielder when we've got more than enough of them already really and even more so when you consider that we've also got people like Danny Williams, Richie Foran and Danny Devine who can all fill in there as well. On Vigurs himself, yes he's a bit of ned but I've always thought he was a decent player and would certainly suit the style of play Yogi wants to implement. With his type of character, he needs a manager who's on his side in a sense. Yogi could be the type who'd get the best out of him.

My understanding of County was that Kiss was on £8,000 p/w while on loan with County paying a percentage on it and I'm not talking about 10%, more like 70%. I heard that Songo'o was on £4,000 p/w as well.

I see including us (and discounting trials at Gillingham, Swansea and Toronto), McDonald, who is still only 29, has had 17 different clubs. Without doubt one of the most talentless players I've ever seen at ICT.

I'm sure the last player the club paid money and as far as I'm aware, the only cash Butcher ever paid for a player was around £10,000 for Danny Williams from Kendal Town. If finances were so tight, why didn't the team fly commercially to Romania? I and many others did it and per person it wasn't extortionate. As many previously, the wages of Shinnie, Watkins, Baptie, Kink, Ofere and Ross will have been freed up. I can't see the likes of Wedderburn and Roberts being on megabucks. Are the club paying off Russell Latapy as was rumoured? I certainly find it hard to believe that accumulatively Roberts, Fon Williams, Wedderburn, Mutombo and Lopez are on the same wages as the ones who left, even considering the likes of Horner and Polworth would be on slightly improved deals. Hughes said in an interview at the start of pre-season and after Wedderburn signed, that he wanted a keeper, another defender, another midfielder and two strikers. So far (counting Mutombo as a midfielder) we're still short of a defender and a striker. Now seemingly there's no money left. Why did he say it if there was no budget for it? And didn't the club post a profit last year? And what happened to the link with the agency down south Terry Butcher use to use so much? I was under the impression it was still going. This also involves what one would presume to be the club's best selling merchandise, the shirts, not even being on sale yet, with the launch date still unknown and even then won't be on sale, at all, at the club. Bizarre. There's just a whole air of strangeness about the whole saga. Or is it all in our minds? Will Yogi be our Ivan Golac? This is the season we'll really find out what the club is made of.

Is Ali Sutherland injured? I was surprised not to see him on the bench on Saturday.
-
Aye, saw I put Polworth twice! With the lack of available players to make a full bench at the moment, I can't understand why MacKay or Hoban aren't included in the squad, especially for away games, when they travel with the squad anyway are involved in the warm-up. We've got nothing to lose by putting a second keeper on the bench and you never know when you might need it. After all, Formartine had to use four different keepers last weekend!

It differs deal by deal. Some will paid 100% by the parent club, some 100% the receiving club. Others will be a mixture of the two clubs.

Certainly the worst since the one a few years back. Think it was the season we had Piermayr and Tade and all the rest of them.

What drives me mental are people who just don't seem to understand tactics at all. Hughes seems to like to have a short option for corners, as it means the opposition have to bring another man out of their box as well. This is always met "GET IN THE BOX! GET IN THE BOX!". Even worse was some of the shouts towards Esson and Brill last season. I remember on one occasion Esson was out at the edge of the D talking to his centre-backs when there was a break in play. Some dunderhead behind me screamed "GET ON YOUR LINE ESSON!" Absolute head in hands stuff. You actually have to wonder if some of these people know what they're watching.
