  1. I'm very worried about the 18 month contract he is rumoured to have been offered. Wouldn't it have made sense to have offered him a contract until the end of the season, and then review the whole situation? We could finish up in a situation here, where if we did get relegated we wouldn't be able to afford to pay him off, and would probably not be able to afford to pay him to stay on. Will he expect a premier league salary if we finish up in Div1? This appointment could bankrupt the club, if the unthinkable happened at the end of the season.
  2. Robbo will be offered his old job back, once we're back in Div1...
  3. Not really..... Dirty Den managed to score on the odd occasion...
  4. He was greatly aided in that job with players such as Stephen Pearson, McFadden breaking through at that time. If you really think about it.... there's an awful lot of luck involved in football!!
  5. There are so many "ifs" and "buts" about this... I get the impression that Butcher is insisting he gets to carry on with both his Scotland and Setanta jobs. The board should be dictating, and laying down the terms and conditions of his employment - not him. Are they so in awe of the guy, and honoured that he has condescended to come to ICT, they are just going to let him call all the shots? According to Grassa one of the criteria to be satisfied with this appointment was how badly the candidates wanted the job. With his (ludicrous) earnings from the Scotland job, and whatever he earns from Setanta, Butcher certainly didn't need this job. No one's going to convince me that he's always nursed some kind of secret ambition to manage ICT. I'm not happy with this at all. It would have been so much better to have had Robbo in place - assisted by anyone such as Duncan Shearer, Bazza, CC, DP, etc... guys for whom Caley Thistle actually means something...
  6. I've still got major doubts about this... Much of Motherwell's success during Butcher's tenure, was thanks to players like McFadden and Pearson that were coming through the ranks at that time. They started to slide when these two moved on. Nether him or Malpas have achieved anything since. I sincerely hope they make a success of this, but I have major doubts - if they don't save us from the drop the ramifications will be too awful to contemplate. It really makes you wonder how much the board care about the future of this club...
  7. These two couldn't keep up an erection in a brothel...
  8. And I doubt very much if he's ever likely to be...
  9. Just when I thought that, at long last, I'd read the the final post on Rory.....
  10. So.... It's up to him now.... I still say we need more than a part-time manager...
  11. No it wouldnt. Im sure he would count himself very very fortunate to get a job back in football at a club he supposedly loves. Anyway, i wouldnt want him back at the club, and i wish people would stop posting who managers should appoint as their assistant. Im tired reading that Pele, Dunc, CC, Barry etc etc should all have roles at the club. Lose the 'jobs for the boys' mentality. Yes, we would all rather have someone who had a 'love for the club' but football doesnt work like this. Get the best man in for the job, and let him appoint the man he feels will best support him doing his job. Butcher might be delighted to have Robbo as his assistant... and I agree that Robbo would be very pleased to get a job back in football again.
  12. If he'd looked at that TV footage meaningfully, he'd have chalked the feckin goal off, and rescinded McB's red card...
  13. Robbo as Butcher's assistant? It's not as daft as it sounds.... Robbo's already here... he knows and gets on well with all the players. If it wasn't going to work out with Butcher, what with all his other committments, Robbo would be well placed to take over from him. It's gotta be worth thinking about.
  14. Would Robbo consider an assistant job?
  15. Yes... I seem to recall Grassa saying that would be a major influencing factor... :thumb04: :018:
  16. Alex Ferguson at Aberdeen and caretaker Scotland boss after Jock Stein died...
  17. That's right - Malpas has just been booted out of Swindon where he was described by their support as the worst manager they ever had....
  18. Yes and if what I heard is correct can keep the tv work until the end of season, if he keeps us up he will stay and tv work will go Stevico : Will you be making an "official" announcement on here soon?
  19. I'm coming round to your way of thinking now!!
  20. He is not confirmed yet so doubt anyone will know his number 2, at moment it is just hearsay that he has the job Assuming he gets to chose his guy it will almost certainly be Malpas.
  21. You really think they'll have gone through all the shenanigens of interviewing people like Knox, Butcher etc, etc when all the time they've had a pretty good idea who'd be best placed to take the job on? Robbo was sitting in the stand on Saturday.... The team might have got an extra buzz if an announcement had been made prior to the start of the match, that he was to be Brewster's successor... wouldn't they have figured that out? I fear you may be guilty of crediting the board with having more sense than many supporters and posters on here will ever give them credit for.
  22. My gut tells me you are going to be seriously disappointed...
  23. I get the distinct impression Grassa has been told he can appoint anyone he likes... As long as it's not Robbo...
  24. Selling Robbos will allow him to devote all his time and energies to managing a football club...
  25. If true that's the best news I've heard in a while...
