Like many others on here I'm really warming to the guy now.... He must be the most coherent, articulate manager currently plying his trade in the SPL...

Looking at the suggested line-ups to face Celtic on Sunday about half have picked him, and half haven't. Butcher has said he will only pick players who are fully committed to the future of ICT, so will he ignore both Black and Cowie for this one? Can he afford to do that? For me Ian Black has given us some of his best performances against the Tics... I wouldn't have any doubts about picking him for this one which could very easily become the game in which our season finally turned around....

Maybe we could do some kind of swap deal here.... Have you heard of Rory McAllister?

There were a lot of plusses in the way John Doc set up the team at Tynie..... But for a couple of questionable refereeing decisions we should have taken at least 1 point from that one. The Doc should be consulted over the lineup/tactics for the Celtic game. If the players perform to their capabilities a decent result will not be beyond them.

Hi Batfink... thank you for your comments on this club's managerial appointments. How many managers have Swindon gone through in the past ten years? If that club wasn't riddled with corruption from top to bottom and obsessed with fiddling HM Customs and Excise - they might just get somewhere.... Malpas will do just fine here.... thank you for your concern.

I was disappointed that John Robertson didn't get the manager's job, but I will say that this appointment would have been my second choice. TB handled yesterday's media circus with considerable aplomb... It's easy to understand how he would have stood out as a candidate during the club's interviews. I've no doubt both he and Maurice Malpas will be wiser after their recent management experiences, and will prove to be more than capable of turning the club's fortunes around. It's up to the players now... they are a good bunch of guys, and they will take new impetus from the appointment of TB, and face the challenge of keeping ICT in the SPL head on. I have no doubts they will succeed...Sunday's game will be absolutely massive and couldn't have come at a better time for us. With a lot of endeavour and just a wee bit of luck, this game will go down as the turning point in season 2008/9.

Just heard part of an interview with TB on Radio Scotland ... When asked about his 18 month contract, he replied that if ICT are relegated he intends to stay around to ensure they come straight back up again.... The board have seriously threatened ICT's very existence by giving him such a lucrative contract. I hope and pray it pays off - but it sure is a massive gamble...
