  1. I can remember reading a travel article in some English magazine about the Island of Ghia, which is just off the Mull of Kintyre. The writer of the article informed readers that "Ghia" is pronounced like the word "gear" I suppose "gear" is pronounced pretty much like Ghia - that is if you live in England and tend to ignore the letter "r" when it appears at the end of any word.
  2. Looks very ominous around Perth tomorrow on my weather map... :) Perfect in Nairn though... :) They should have played it at Station Park...
  3. They'll get laughed off the park tomorrow if they all turn out looking like that.
  4. I love it when academics come on here!
  5. That's brilliant!! Hours of fun for me here too - now that I've figured out how it works... :)
  6. Watching a ball go over his head and into the net, then giving the to someone sitting in the stand.
  7. Put me down for the remaining ?20. Feeling pretty safe with that..... Caley very often win when I'm not there!
  8. Is Scotty's post at 101 the longest ever recorded in the history of CTO?
  9. I'm inclined to agree with you - that is a definite possibility. Could you maybe do me a favour? At your next seance do you think you could ask Jock Stein who he would like to see get the job? Thanks...
  10. Yeap... You're right about that. I was thinking that game had finished 1-0. Probably got mixed up with another qualifier against the Welsh (1987) which we did win 1-0 after a somewhat harsh penalty award. That game of course will best be remembered as the night Jock Stein died.
  11. Correct!! As was Joe Jordan when he won a penalty for Scotland against Wales which took us to the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. He went up with a defender for a high ball in the box, handling it in the process. The ref thought the defender had handled and awarded the pen.... Joe to his credit, just kept quiet about it, and Don Masson slotted the penalty home. Wales 0 - Scotland 1. Happy days!
  12. I hope TB will see this as a "one-off" game making a few changes and trying something a wee bit different. Esson Proctor Tokely Munro McBain Ross Duncan Foran Djebi-Zadi Imrie Rooney Allison, Hayes, Cox, Barroman, Gollabeck
  13. He was slightly intoxicated, or you were slightly intoxicated?
  14. Feck you? No thanks..... Not when there's dogs on the streets.
  15. Dropping out the SPL was a sore point with some.... but apparently it's just one of these things that happens now and again. No one is to blame for it. Hopefully you will see your friend in action on Sunday in the final of the Alba Cup - a very prestigious competition in Scotland. It will be live on Sky channel 168 - in some kind of foreign language, unfortunately. I think it might be Swahili, but I'm not sure.
  16. Don't think there are any highlights anywhere, Eric.... It was a fantastic strike - best goal I've seen at TCS for quite some time. What are you doing in England?
  17. That's a fantastic interview. I'd only ever really seen Pele speak in after-match interviews, when it was the usual cagey, dour Scottish manager stuff - I'd never realised the extent of the humour and warmth and modesty the guy has. It kind of gave me a shiver when he talked about wishing he could have finished his career at Inverness, like Guy Roux at Auxerre - realistically, it would probably have gone sour at some point, but I still have this dream of us playing fast, recklessly exciting Pele-style football in the SPL. Totally agree with that. He really is a fascinating character. I spoke to him briefly during the book launch night at the stadium - thanked him for putting ICT on the football map, and of course for Feb8th2000 - slightly tongue in cheek I asked if he would ever consider coming back here as manager. He gave me a kind of starry eyed look and replied that it would be a dream come true.
  18. I lost in interest in the Pars when Brewster left them! He arrived in Inverness a few weeks after I moved here - that gave me added incentive to go and watch them.
  19. Just this final P.i.G... I can assure you if it been the Scottish Cup or the league Cup final I would have been there. Oddly enough I was talking to a guy just last week who masterminded a historic cup win for ICT against Celtic a few years back.... He thinks we should still be playing at that level. It's all very well saying we are just a small club - we should remember where we came from, etc, etc (Birdog on another thread today) Dundee, Paisley, Hamilton, Motherwell, Perth all have teams in the SPL..... Absolutely no reason at all why Inverness shouldn't have a team in there to.... If we were to go on a winning streak over our next six league games we could be back up there again. I get the impression on here at times that a sizeable section of our support would much rather see us in action against Ross County than the Old Firm, the Dons, the Hibs, the Hearts, etc, etc....
  20. Thanks 12th Man.... I had seriously thought about making this trip - even if just for alcoholic reasons, plus the chance to meet up again with IHE and the rest of the usual suspects. Other arrangements have now been made for Sunday, which involve golf at Nairn Dunbar. Like I said in another thread I hope everyone has a great day out....
  21. It's a long way to go for a meaningless fixture. Our next 6 league games could almost be described as the most important fixtures in ICT's recent history. I just hope that thought is uppermost in TB's mind. I'm not even sure that we should be going into this game wth our strongest possible team. What if one or more of our key players was to pick up a serious injury? There's a lot of raw meat in that Dundee team. I'd hate to think we might be deprived of one of our skillfull silky ball players (Tokely for instance) for these up and coming league games. Something Heilandee said earlier in this thread about a day out on the lash with your mates, did briefly make me think about going - I might have gone if it had been a golf outing at St Andrews or Carnoustie instead of a meaningless game that's live on the telly anyway.... Naah.... Enjoy your day out guys and gals.... I might allow myself a wee celebratory drink on the Sunday night if we do win it - just so long as no one's got injured.
  22. No.... I don't live in Perth. And? And we shouldn't even be in this competition.... We should be playing teams like the Dons, the Hibs, the Hearts, the OF, etc....
  23. No.... I don't live in Perth.
  24. Oh no... Not another thread on the Mickey Mouse Cup final. This game will be nothing more than a dress rehearsal for one fixture that really matters : ICT vs Dundee BoxingDay, 2009
