  1. Did Hastings ever let us down at critical moments? Any red cards? Can't remember.

    Get a Grip!

Very disappointed in the result on Saturday, not only the loss, but the manner in which we lost. It was obvious to me that County were up for the challenge and that our players felt short of the required application and commitment to win the game. Maybe we have some players who have come in thinking that this is a stepping stone to a bigger club and they will be soon off. From watching ICT for the last 15 years it is normally only the players who apply themselves who get the ?dream move?. Butcher has a reputation as a motivator ?caged tigers? etc but should he really need to motivate professional footballers playing their local rivals at home at possibly the biggest crowd of the season. Some of the players are very young and inexperienced it may be time for the older heads to step up to the mark provided the Manager picks them. Give the players who may feel unjustly in my opinion that they let us down last season by getting us relegated the chance to prove themselves this season. BUT It?s early in the season hopefully too early to judge the final outcome. This is what supporting your local team is all about, highs and lows, good times and bad. Old firm supporters rarely experience a run of poor results and therefore do not appreciate the good times. This does not mean we should be complacent I believe (controversial bit coming up now) that the decline of the Scottish National Team is partially down to the tartan army?s celebrate if we win, celebrate if we loose mentality in the past, this attitude passes on to the players. Granted there has been some criticism after the Norway game although directed at the manager rather than the players. Something struck me on Saturday 15 years ago or so playing at Telford St how many people would have though that we would have been within a whisker of a Scottish cup final and possible European qualification, had 5 years in the top league and attracted an ex-captain of England and Rangers as our manager. We can get back on track for promotion, but it will be more difficult than many of us thought, but not an impossible task. That?s the beauty of football and what keeps many of us coming back you can never tell what might happen as someone once said ?it?s a funny old game?.
  3. Throwing drumstick at Keeper...WRONG Throwing battery at Steward ... WRONG I'm a better fan that you thread ... YAWN Live locally, young, disposable income. no girlfriend, football daft, I was a diehard Moved away married, mortgage, kids, I was a partime fan Back. kids grown up, some disposable income , diehard again. Bill Shankley was wrong about football being more important that a matter of life and death. At the end of the day it's only a game and people take from it what they want.
  4. I'm really starting to worry about our future in the spl. At the moment I think we have to try and stay in touch with the second bottom team (falkirk) and hopefully pull it out of the fire after the split. Beginning to think a new manager may be the answer, teams sometimes pick up a couple of wins when a manager changes...clutching at straws I guess
  5. Dobbie is certainly a skillful player, but his fitness is def suspect. Maybe Brewster and his fitness, diet regime, could do the trick and turn him into a spl player. I remember the incident with the ballgirl, I thought he had killed her!! think she got the biggest cheer of the game when she appeared after halftime
  6. A clause of this type is quite common in many business transactions for things such as property, land, boats etc. Bit like pawning your family silver for some cash. Footballers are sometimes seen as just another asset this clause not surprising, Rooney will probably have a a clause for between 5 and 12% of any future fee. From a business point of view we like all other clubs with the exception of the old firm initially want to avoid dropping to the 1st division. If Rooney scores 20 goals in a season we stay up we sell him and buy someone else with a point to prove. And so it goes on
  7. I think thats really quite a silly idea. I said it was a controversial thought, but I would be genuinely interested why you think it's silly, you have dismissed the idea but have not said why.
  8. Without being outstanding I thought the youngsters did what you would expect players of their experience to do, this is their first full season in the SPL. Should they all play at the sametime ? to be honest I'm undecided. However I thought some of our more experienced players need to step up. I hate to criticise players but, Ross Tokely the guy gives his all in every game but today on occasions he punted that ball to nobody when he had time to pass to his own player. Cowie needs a shake maybe even dropped, he was not interested in doing a bit of graft today hopefully the paper talk has not got to him. Rooneys commitment and effort impressed me, but he does need to work on that first touch. Hopefully Brewster can sort that his first touch was first class. Controversial thought, do we need a youth set up? youth teams are made up normally of local players using our geographical location to our advantage why not do an "old firm" and just pick off the best performers at 19 to 20 years old from the Highland League, Ross County Elgin City etc. The money saved from running the teams could be put to improve the performance of the first team squad
  9. Can anyone tell me what pre-season ICT have arranged? Thanks in advance
  10. "as long as craig brewster stays put at Inverness i am not willing to cross the gate , make a stand get him out" Excellent news, Stadium a better place without negative idiots like you, please feel free to stop posting here too!!! :sillywave:
  11. Refs have difficult role to play in Football. Not professional, only paid armatures. My opinion that they are not dishonest, and do not have the benefit of TV replays, assistant referee was heavily involved in some of the more controversial decisions today. managers and players should be careful when criticising refs, I've never seen a ref , dive, seek an unfair advantage or deliberately attack someone. Correct my if i am wring, ( i know you will) but was levein not involved in some refereeing controversy involving utd and stmirren?
  12. Small point, is the admission cost that high? I've three kids that come along with me. Now granted I feel it's expensive to get in, but so is the cost of the swimming pool, pictures etc, and don't get me started on booking a holiday abroad for 5 people and try booking 5 persons into a Travel Inn. We are paying to see the best teams and players in the country. I for one never thought that 14 years ago, one day I would watch ICT play SPL football, next year we will play and possibly beat a team that have won the UEFA Cup. (or Runners up). Next season may be our last in the SPL. I hope not but there will be no Gretna, and Hamilton are no mugs. Sell the family silver, walk and save petrol, cut you own hair, shop at Lidl( like me), no takeaways, no carryouts,go camping to Nairn, swim in the Ness, recycle anniversary cards, be a poll tax protester, get your wife a second job, no playstations, no wiis, take in a lodger. SAVE YOUR MONEY get a season ticket then for 2 hours an a Saturday experience "the best of times the worst of times" football in Inverness. It's only Money get it spent!!!!! Football in Inverness on a Saturday you canna beat it and you know it. :004: No one under the age of 25years should complain about admission prices. Believe me you will never be as well off in your life as you are at the moment. :tic01:
  13. His celebration was a deliberate act to wind up Aberdeen fans in my opinion . Ref had no option but to book him. Happened right in front of me
  14. I along with my 2 kids sit in section F in the main stand, season ticket holders , and I am getting totally cheesed off with the behaviour of away fans in hospitality. Today was particularly bad, always seems to be p1ssed up nobodies who do not know how to behave in public. No steward came near no Police seemed interested. Now, I am not advocating physical action, but I think it is time we reclaimed this section of the stadium, I for one have now had enough, next time this happens, I will demand that these people are removed from the stadium. What I witnessed today was not banter, which I, like many enjoy, this was provocation today. I?ve been in hospitality many times, at many grounds and it would seem to be an unwritten rule that a more considerate form of behaviour is expected from both home and away fans attending. They would not have behave this way I believe at any other SPL ground but we appear to be soft touches in Inverness. Enough is enough, plenty seats in and around section F and the pie queue is much shorter at that end of the stadium! Anyone any thoughts?
  15. We need a centre half who can jump up and head a ball, someone who can intimidate other teams, Rob Jones. Lee Wilkie, Bobo Balde etc, let others around him play the football, but someone needs to get tackles in. We need to battle battle battle in every game. I'm not saying kick teams of the park, but a team playing battling football, full on hard but fair, blood and snotters style at home will dictate the way the game is played. Then it is down to the team who wants the win more. If Alan Savage threatened parttime football written into every contract if we get relegated, I wonder if that would make a difference? Or on the other hand did the team just have an off day today? 2 weeks from now I'll be in my usual seat today's performance a distant memory full of enthusiasm, that's the beauty of football don't loose faith, "We are SPL, We are SPL" (for now!)
  16. Have to agree Rory looked more confident and held the ball on a couple of occasions, give him a run thankfully Gretna will be going down , maybe we should be thinking about building for next season
  17. Hypothetical Question If ever a ICT away fixture was sold out to away fans, would you try to sit in the home section ? I guess for every 1 vocal Rangers fan on Sunday there would have been 2 sitting quietly.
  18. My point was Hastings attitude, he may not be our best player or contribute the most but because of his fitness level and attitude he is playing to his full potential, you have sort of agreed with me by saying he is professional.
  19. In my opinion and that's all it is, running up from someone from behind and elbowing them is thuggish and cowardly. Deliberately getting yourself sent off when your team is second bottom of the division, when the bottom team is as far as you know drawing and therefore may gain a point is stupid, I agree braindead may have been a bit strong. He did it right in front of the referee. It was my intention to express my opinion that there is no problem with hard but fair players able to dish it out and take it back. Tokely does not appear to be able to take it. I also think it's completely "on" to allow me to express my opinion, I assume you will be writing a strongly worded letter to Craig Brewster who I believe called Tokely a disgrace and embarrassment on national radio. As you say has 300+ appearances and therefore should be able he should therefore know that 9 against 11 is not viable. I do remember the of tackles etc he has made in the past, and have supported him many times on this board, but that in no way excuses what he did yesterday. This happened right in front of me yesterday and as you can probably tell it was beyond my comprehension why he did it. Red mist, heat of the game do not wash with me he is a professional sportsman being watched by people paying good money.
  20. On Saturday Tokley showed his true lack of class so called hardmen can take it as well as dish it out. Yesterday's performance showed Tokley to be thuggish and cowardly. He is not some young raw talent but an experienced professional footballer who should by now know better there was no way back for the team yesterday once he was sent off, he would have known that before he stuck the Motherwell player. Surely Scottish Football especially the SPL has moved away from the braindead defender sent out to kick players to guys who can actually play football. Richard Hastings gets a lot of flack from certain members of the home support but if we had a team full of players with Hastings attitude on and off the park we would be greatly improved in my opinion. But enough of 1 idiot on the park what really annoyed me yesterday were the complete morons in the mainstand who applauded Tokley off the park, apologies if you were only out on a day pass, but you were congratulating a player on letting his team and fans of that team down. This is not the first time Tokley has done this but it is the first time I can remember he has been caught, normally his sneaky kicks and punches are carried out in a melee in our own box. I don't think we will miss Tokley as much as some may think over the next game or so and hopefully we can get someone in to replace him who will not let us down in our presently precarious position
  21. is this a wind up, surely more info has to be provided before people are expected to sign a petition. What was he accused of ? Did he do it? If so why did he do it? This his first offence if he did it? Who handed out the ban? If guilty has he apologised? happy to consider signing once all facts are known
  22. no, if i start booing him I'll have to boo every player who dives. no doubt booing miko will be the only noise from some of our support on Saturday,. booing only inspires player to do better In fact lets cheer him as soon as he touches the ball that will confuse him no end, probably spend the rest of the game wondering what happened. mmmmm might just work :024:
  23. The club change one of their two strips every year so this will happen every time the sponsor changes .... although I could see the point of synchronising it with the home kit. Having said that, I think the new away strip will be a huge seller and with it not changing for two seasons then buyers will get a full two years out of it before the sponsorship deal comes up for renewal. I don't want to blow this out of proportion as I think the new sponsorship is good for the club but I suspect next seasons strip will not be considered a new strip but the existing strip with a new sponsors name. Therefore the following season there will a new strip with flybe , but if they do not renew their Sponsor deal the following season it will be a change of Sponsor if you follow my reasoning. Therefore parents with young kids may feel pressurised to by the uptodate home strip every yearand every second year a new away one too. In the past if you wanted to be uptodate with strips it was one new one per year, home one year away the next etc It's just a personal observation my kids birthdays are in September we buy the tops, one uncle buys the socks another the shorts everybody happy (for once!!!!) I know sad old git moaning on etc, but I've just paid for 4 season tickets I know that the pleading will soon start for the flybe strip
  24. Pity the club could not have had the foresight to have the sponsorship and strip running concurrently, kids want the same strip as the players on the park. But looking at the bigger picture if its beneficial to the club ,then it must be a good deal.
