  2. OK, I have now read and digested everything on this thread now. I agree with davie. What is it that some people want. Is this how people get their kicks? Coming on a football forum after every match and constantly slag the team, management, directors, fellow fans, the list is endless. I agree it was not the most entertaining game I have ever witnessed. Hello, welcome to the Scottish first division. I don't really care how we get our three points. Winning ugly is much better than drawing handsomely or God forbid, losing stunningly. If you win every game 1-0 you are Champions..........good enough for this easily pleased supporter. Yep, supporter, a word worth remembering. Now to the game itself, not pretty, but never usually is against a team stubbornly defending. We were always going to win, it was just a matter of time. Sanchez was looking dangerous at times, he was one of the few able to hold onto the ball, and I thought he looked the likliest to open the scoring. That we took so long to score was partly of our own doing. It appeared from the North Stand that we always took one touch too many. The Airdrie keeper made some decent saves. Esson on the other hand had a comfortable afternoon. He did have some work to do, but it was all routine stuff for him. Enigma man was up to his usual tricks.......or maybe lack of tricks. He started well enough and fired a shot on target early on but up to the goal he seemed to choose the wrong option, and has been mentioned before he did not seem aware of where his same coloured team mates were. He lost the ball a number of times by dilly dallying when he should have threaded someone through. Sort it out Dougie, we need a player like you when your head is screwed on the right way. Little Jonny joined the game after the break and injected much needed pace on the flanks. He also required a minimum of two body guards wherever he went. Our back four had one or two iffy moments as Airdrie at times looked quite intricate around the box without being able to penetrate. I suppose then that our back four did their job then as asked. I thought two of our best performers were the unsung heroes of Russelldinho and Bambi. Mopping up every loose ball and feeding the forwards. Tokely was obviously in some pain when he hurt his personal trainer. It looked as though he had possibly dislocated his fingers or wrist. Not sure I would like anyone poking around with my sore hand either. I am sure they would have kissed and made up. And for all those still keen to slag off Rossco, here he was in the ninetieth minute doing a lung bursting drive up the right flank and still flying into tackles, well done big boy. Eric could not have had more timely introduction. Possibly his first touch brought the ball down and his second touch despatched the ball behind the keeper via the post from twenty yards. Fabulous goal and just when we needed it as the game was beginning to get edgey with the slender but welcome lead. Foran will have better days. He did work very hard, but nothing really came off for him, culminating in an Iwelomu/Barrowmanesque like miss. He lay on the ground virtually on the goal line for almost as long as Rossco was, hoping the ground would open up and swallow him. Unfortunately it never and he continued before being subbed near the end. Dundee found out the previous week that the Diamonds were stubborn and only won 2-1. At least we kept a clean sheet and more importantly took the three points. Being easily pleased, I was easily pleased, and even moreso on reaching the Innes and seeing the rest of the scores coming in. It was a perfect day for ICT with every result going our way. Who would have predicted Morton, yes the same team we beat 4-1 going on 8-1, stuffing Raith Rovers 5-0 or County drawing 1-1 with ten man Ayr, another of our scoring spree teams. With the mighty Harry Wraggs losing 3-1 to the Pars and Dee and Queens failing to trouble the scorers it was an all round super day. We climbed two places in the league and increased our goal difference, we got out of the car park quicker and our National team were once again an embarrassment, whats new. Still, lets all just fall out with the rest of the posters and complain about the score, after all it was only Airdrie. Strewth.
  3. Aye right........as they say in some parts...................fekk this, I'm off to get drunkeeee
  4. Apart from lloyd................he obviously thought it was karaoke night at th Argyll.
  5. Any one else tuned in.....................I'm up for it...............Queen night, every ones a winner.
  6. Is the yawn fest over then........
  7. Wher are ye Al............not the walk over this league as the big money boys would have everyone believe. Dee 0 -0 Queens.............whats the low down, were ye robbed.
  8. Have not read any of the thread yet.................but did anyone mention that Foran had the miss of the season, worse than anything Barrowman could have conjured up. One yard wide of the post, three yards of goals to score in, two yards wide he put the ball......shockerooney. We also passed up a plethora of chances, nay maybe more than that.............*puzzled look on my face*...what is more than a plethora..................................anywhoooo we did have a lot of half chances to add to the scoreline, in all honesty we could have won six nil...........or maybe one. We did deserve to win, we did win, not in humungous style, but we did get the important three points, all the other results went in our favour today.
  9. I notice that we only won 2-0, unlike the title favourites who crushed them 2-1 last weekend.
  10. And what about the other halp gordy...................I see the mighty Adams team could not dispose of Ayr.....well not like we did.........

    Butcher must Go!

Whatever, the season is not finished yet, some teams were above us alphabetically before the season started. Is this the same team we beat recently? Too many people are too quick to point the finger, surely he can only be judged if he fails at the end of this season. At the moment we can still mathematically win the league...........don't laugh, it is still possible, maybe highly unlikely, but still possible, and until the time comes that we can not win the league then he and the team will get my backing. I don't like not being at the top, but such is life.

    Butcher must Go!

It's certainly the attitude of some posters that has alienated others. By all means discuss it, nobody has said not to discuss it. What I referred to is that the question on the topic is an insult... Butcher must go.............why?, because we are not top of the first division, because County just beat us again, because he has multiple jobs. We have no divine right to win every game, not even against County.

    Butcher must Go!

Playing with 10 men was outwith the managers control. You could argue that Rossco should have been right back, then he would not have been in that situation. But because players move around and interchange, there is no way of telling if he would have been there or not anyway. Falkirk are a battle hardened squad, with an active manager. Our squad of, by that time, a squad of mercenaries thrown together by default. I don't blame Butcher for our demise, that is further up the tree and deeper rooted than him. All managers make tactical decisions which in hindsight don't always work out. If that were not the case, then every team would win every game based on equality within the squads. No? Put hindsight on the other foot. We don't complain when we trounce Morton and Ayr, where does hindsight go then, or is it simply called foresight? Should we even be discussing this? I think it is an insult to Butcher. It would not have mattered who we had as manager, some posters will never be happy and knee jerk reactions will always be prevalent. He needs some slack until the end of the season, good bad or indifferent. I am prepared to wait a little.
  14. You have my sympathies for going to watch such drivel.

    Butcher must Go!

He had a stronger squad to choose from playing in a stronger league. I personally don't think it is correct to be calling for Butcher to go just now regardless of the fact that we can or can't release him. I doubt if many managers would fare much better with the budget restrictions in place. We are in the first division and we will just have to learn to deal with it. Bottling it at the end.............these are tough games anytime, never mind when points become so crucial. Away to Well, Away to Killie and the decider to Falkirk. No freebie points there.
  17. My kind of girl................go girl go.
  18. I see Dundee lost 3-1 to United last night in the derby match to boost the Arab Trust & Dee 4 Life. Good crowd of over 7774 at the game. But, do Dundee have what it takes to win this league. They have been everybodies pre-season favourites, but so far have failed to set the heather on fire. In Griffiths they have the outstanding striker in the league. They have bought players in, but in saying that the players they have taken on board are not exactly household names and international superstars. They seem to be a well balanced side with the pick of the divisions players, a sizeable support and some financial clout. I am not so sure this will bring them the success we all want. This is a tough league to get out of at the right end, and whoever shall win it will undoubtedly have deserved it over the season. The only thing in Dundee's favour as opposed to the likes of County or Queens is the depth of their squad. Plenty said on the ICT forum about our own inadequacies, but whilst we are having a mixed season, the rest are all capable of taking points off each other. There does appear to be a divide in the league, thankfully just below us with Morton, Airdrie and Ayr looking the most likely candidates for the drop. So..............do Dundee still look the team to beat or are they just limbering up. Although the Alba Cup final is considered a mickey mouse competition, I believe it will give us an indication as to who will be heading for the top and who will be here for the long haul. At the moment, we look like settling in to the first division life, but there is a long way to go and remember we came from seven point down to pip Clyde for promotion.

  23. No overcrowding in the area to the right of the goals, plenty of room to swing a cat. *disclaimer, I did not swing a cat, it's only a saying* meeowwww
  24. Meanwhile, back to the game. Am I the only one who thinks we were not too far off getting at least a point. After the quick one two we dominated possession, without looking overly dangerous. I suppose County would say that they had done their work in the first half hour. They had nothing to prove in the second period and did what they had to do, but ask any of their fans and they were chewing finger nails after Rooney scored. The difference was County took advantage of slackness and we did not find the same slackness from their rearguard. We were improved after the break but still County mopped up what we had to offer. The ineffectual Sanchez off at half time for the ever improving super sprinter little Jonny. The even less effective Imrie was also replaced and the third useless cog of Bulvitis was shown the door as well. We looked likliest to score when Jonny set up Rooney for what appeared to be a simple side foot into the net, but alas the County defence kept the ball out. We deserved the penalty and could have snatched an equaliser had Eric more goal awareness instead of rushing his free header and putting it wide. It's all immaterial now, but from staring at another thrashing, we genuinely looked like getting something from it. We were not absolutely rubbish, we were not great, but a bit of perspective here. We lost a tough and fiercely contested away day derby, no disgrace, disappointing, but no disgrace. Lets sort it out for next weekend and get the ball rolling again.
  25. OK OK guys, chill out. Emotions are running a little high, lets not fall out with each other. I have deleted the last five posts starting from Alex Macleods one. He has obviously overlooked the fact that the sweary filter is bypassed for mods and admins. Just means we have to be extra careful as we all know how to swear as well. No need for the personal abusive comments thereafter, sorry if your post has been removed if it was caught up in the crossfire.
