Ict -v- St Mirren : Matchday Thread
He was probably inches away from connecting properly, but the ball skimmed across the face of the goal and ended up well wide. Lets not forget that Imrie had one cleared off the line and another shot flashed a foot wide with the keeper stranded on both occasions. I say we deserved to win although we made hard work of it in the end by sitting deeper and deeper, such is the nature of the beast.

The Best Spl Relegation Battle Ever?
I think our position looked worse due to the farcical fixture schedule. We had played our toughest opponents whereas others were on easy street. Not so easy for them now and we are benefitting. Coupled with the removal of the barriers, we look well capable of staying up. Still 21 points available though so points will be tough to come by.

Duff Or Munro
Too late to change it now and experience should help to keep Grant in the side, but the fans are getting ticked off with the thumping clearances, although maybe that is just what the Butcher ordered given our predicament......... also Grant started the move that led to Morais first goal with a long ball forward to Proctor. Therefore, I will stick with Grant, although Duff should be pressing hard for a start next season.

Game on Alba just now, and Morais first goal is a peach. Long ball from Munro, lovely one touch from Proctor to Imrie to Morais to the back of the net, a ferkin beauty. Sky 168 All has become clear now, Dargo tried to head the ball, fluffed it, and knocked it with his feet onto a stunned Lionel who poked out a leg and the ball rolled into the path of Dorman. The rest is history, we won 2-1

We Must Beat St Mirren
I would imagine that there is nothing wrong with winding down after a good days work. We all like to do it, some more than others. They have a life as well, as long at they would adhere to any guidelines layed down by the club.

Buddies Relegationometer
FRASER :P :021: :D Couple of early scares on bumpy pitch, but played well for rest of game, couple of decent stops. ROSSCO :D :D :D :D Another great game from the big boy, excellent break from defence late on taking three or four Buddies on before being fouled at the touchline. The Mirren fans really love him and Rossco makes their day. McMAGICS :D :D :D Our Latvian squad player put in a solid dedfensive display and is one of the reasons for our turn around in fortunes. GRANTIE :003: :thumb04: Captain Munro started where he left off at Falkirk, hoofing the ball great lengths. He also bolstered the attack and tried his luck a couple of times from corners. Less hoofing please and get back to a passing game. LIONEL :D :D :D ;) The man of mystery and much malignment. Lionel was unlucky to have the ball cannon off him for Saints goal, and a couple of sliced clearances, but put in a decent shift thereafter. Like Barrowman, he will just have to put up with the knockers, but I feel he has justified his starting slot ahead of Hastings. PROCTOR :D :D :D :D Starting to look the part after tentative return to ICT. Worked well at times and combined neatly with Morais and Imrie to create openings. BLACK :D :D :D :D We will miss this giant. Competed for everything, as he does with great tenacity. Made our midfield tick over nicely after a sluggish start and outjumped guys a foot taller than himself. Great competitor. KERR :D :D :D A start for Kerr and he did not look out of place. Not too noticeable, but that also means he made few mistakes, so decent performance from the ex-Motherwell man. FORAN :D :D :D :D Another excellent display by Foran, he does hang well. Very tough in the tackle but to be honest, I would rather see him swap places with Dougie Imrie. MORAIS :003: :003: :003: :022: :022: Man of the match for his two spanking goals. Quick feet and neat link up play could have brought about our first SPL hat-trick but nonetheless well deserved praise for the wee Portuguese man. Replaced by Barrowman after 65 minutes, possibly to prtect a troublesome hamstring and he went off to rapturous applause by the home fans, unlike some of the comments reserved for his replacement. IMRIE :D :D :D Mr 110% was just that. He does exactly what it says on the tin. Some great hassling but final ball let him down again. Unlucky not to score after keeper went awol, but his floated ball was knocked away with Barrowman a yard away from the defender. BARROWMAN :D :003: Was given twenty five minutes after replacing new hero Morais. Unfortunately this was a hard act to follow and not a popular switch, and he was not helped by the change in tactics as he was often left isolated and chasing lost causes by being the lone striker. Plenty of Imrie like effort but nothing came his way. Needs a wee break and maybe will come good. DUFF :003: Not on long enough but dealt with the Mirren threat as they pushed for a late equaliser. Referee :022: Home fans :015: :D Strangely subdued Weather :018: Another garbage day after two beautiful days on Thursday and Friday.

Ict -v- St Mirren : Matchday Thread
Lionel was unfortunate at the goal. I will need to see it again but I thought a bit of hesitation between him and Grantie ended with Grant heading the ball into Lionel and it cannoned off him right into Dorman's path and he guided the ball low behind a diving Fraser. The pitch is still a bit lumpy, and Lionel and Fraser sliced a couple of clearances, but after that both of these players did very well. Get off his back, you are not helping him gain confidence when every misplaced pass is scrutinised. I for one thought he was excellent in the second half. Good win, two cracking goals from Morais and an excellent shift from Foran and Imrie, who did the usual 110%, but wasted some good pessesion when his final ball let him down. He also had a netbound chip cleared off the six yard box with the keeper stranded. Tokely was also brilliant today, and his wing wizardy was scintillating. We were well on top after scoring our second goal but ended up sitting deeper and deeper as Mirren pushed forward. Gameplan worked in the end but left the fans a bit uncomfortable at the death. Barrowman was left chasing hopeless punts at the end as a lone striker. He does win his fair share in the air, but with no one to assist him it was a waste of time literally. Three points and further away from relegation. Still 21 points to play for, but top six is not achievable now.

We Must Beat St Mirren
Hello........................is anybody out there................,oh well, just me and the bottle of wine then. Does nobody really care if we win or lose tomorrow? Extremely important match and the response is ..........duh, wtf. Should all results go our way tomorrow.........I know, how often have we wished that, but, lets face it, a great chance to maybe jump a couple of places in the league whilst (second time I have used that word today) denting our rivals pride. It's up to you Terry and the boys, please don't let us down.

Barry Ferguson And Allan Mcgregor
Whilst I can't get too excited about watching Scotland play these days, Scotland will be better rid of these pair of comedians. I don't go along with Ferguson not playing well recently, he has always played poorly. Sticks his erse out and his elbows and does a crab impersonation. In fact the only decent game I have seen with Ferguson playing was when we got hammered 0-3 at home start of last season I think. Let them go from the Scotland set up, they are bad eggs and the team will have a new focus, instead of playing everything sideways through Barry two fingers. And MacGregor one finger is not the keeper Gordon is, as was shown against Iceland with three or four game saving heroics. Sorry, but I still can not get too excited about the whole Scotland set up as I have been dis-illusioned too often, (thanks Ally), but when planks and weegie zorks like these come along and act like Prima Donna's then enough is enough. GTF guys, rot in obscurity, everybody is sick to the back teeth of your antics. Rangers decent fans have been disgusted by their immaturity and have rightly condemned their actions as have their club, so a big thumbs up from me..................not often that is typed in the same sentence as Rangers.

Barry Ferguson And Allan Mcgregor
Fantastic news and huge plaudits for Glasgow Rangers for leading by example and putting these two overhyped and overpaid groiks in their place. They showed little respect for the National side or the Scotland Tartan Army and acted like total prikks. They should have been banned from earning a wage from football for life, see how hard it is to make a living outside of the football bubble. A lot of fans idolised these guys, they have basically turned their noses up at all of them and their football club and their national team. Again, well done to Rangers for taking this stance and laying down the benchmark.
-
Barry Ferguson And Allan Mcgregor
The way they both played, using the word loosely, I thought they were both drinking before the game. Macgregor was culpable for two of the goals, rooted to his line, and Ferguson was..........well, was he playing? Scotland are a better team without Ferguson, grossly overrated, and always underperforms when playing for his country.

Ict Hat Tricks
from BBC web site Saturday, 1 March, 2003 Inverness CT 3-1 St Mirren A sparkling hat-trick from Paul Ritchie earned Inverness Caley Thistle their first win in five games at home to St Mirren. St Mirren started brightly and opened the scoring after 13 minutes through Paul McHale's low drive. But the Jags hit back emphatically and, after 25 minutes, Ritchie equalised when he headed home Barry Robson's cross. Caley took the lead after four minutes of the second half, when Ritchie converted another pinpoint Robson delivery from close range. Ritchie completed his hat-trick six minutes later after good work from impressive Stuart Golabek. The Buddies mounted a late surge but could not dent a stout Inverness rearguard, the hosts hanging on for three points. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inverness CT: Brown, Munro, McCaffray, Golabek, Tokely, McBain, Hart, Bagan, Robson, Wyness, Ritchie. Subs: Stewart, Keogh, Hislop, Low, Fraser. St Mirren: Robertson, Mitchell, Lowing, Dempsie, Denham, Broadfoot, Gillies, McHale, McLean, Roberts, McGinty. Subs: Cameron, Lappin, McGowan, Dunbar, Bald. Referee: D McDonald. Saturday, 10 January, 2004 Inverness CT 5-1 Brechin Paul Ritchie's hat-trick inspired Inverness Caledonian Thistle to a thumping Scottish Cup victory. Ritchie struck twice inside the first nine minutes and added a third in the closing stages. David Bingham and Roy McBain were also on target for the Highlanders, who now travel to meet St Mirren. Charlie King pulled a goal back for Brechin City early in the second half but the visitors had conceded three by that stage. Ritchie gave the hosts a fantastic start, slotting home from a tight angle in the eighth minute after Bingham had put him in the clear. Less than a minute later, Ritchie bagged his second, reacting quickly after McBain's shot had struck the upright. Bingham effectively killed the game off in the 23rd minute with a clinical finish but his side had to wait until the second half before they added to their tally. King pulled a goal back for Brechin when his deflected shot found the target six minutes after the restart but any hopes of a comeback were thwarted five minutes later when McBain raced clear to make it 4-1. Ritchie completed his hat-trick after 68 minutes, finishing from close range after fine work by Bingham on the left. Inverness CT: Brown, Tokely, Golabek, Mann, McCaffrey, Duncan, Mackie, McBain, Ritchie, Keogh, Bingham. Subs: Munro, Thomson, Macmillan, Macrae, Fraser. Brechin City: Hay, Millar, A Trialist, B Trialist, White, Smith, King, McLeish, Templeman, Gibson, Mitchell. Subs: McCulloch, Miller, Boylan. Referee: C Thomson Saturday, 2 March, 2002 Inverness CT 4-2 St Mirren E-mail your reaction to Football Talk A Paul Ritchie hat-trick helped Caley Thistle come from behind to claim a well-deserved victory at the Caledonian Stadium. Ricky Gillies put St Mirren ahead after just nine minutes from the penalty spot after Bobby Mann tripped Ian Ross. But Thistle responded well and equalised through David Bagan's spectacular, 25-yard drive after 38 minutes. Paul Ritchie put the Jags ahead when he got on to the end of a defence-splitting pass from Charlie Christie just after half-time. The same player struck again two minutes later to put the hosts firmly in charge. St Mirren hit back as Ross reduced the deficit when he connected with a cross from Jose Quitongo. But Ritchie put the result beyond a doubt when he completed his hat-trick from Barry Robson's pass with 10 minutes left. Saturday, 16 November, 2002 Inverness CT 5-3 Queen of the South Inverness Caledonian Thistle were made to fight very hard for their sixth successive league victory, against a Queen of the South side who played half the game with nine men. Paul Ritchie gave the home side a dream start when he opened the scoring from Dennis Wyness' through pass in the sixth minute, and it was against the run of play when Sean O'Connor equalised from a Robbie Neilson cross on 37 minutes. Barry Robson restored the Jags' lead with a penalty kick after Roy McBain was impeded by O'Connor on 43 minutes. Saints Peter Weatherson was ordered off just before the break, and they were reduced to nine men when Brian McColligan was red-carded for a second bookable offence on 48 minutes. Robson put the Highlanders 3-1 up with a 25-yard rocket, but O'Connor quickly reduced the deficit from a Derek Lyle pass. Ritchie netted for Thistle on the hour before John O'Neill converted a penalty kick for the Doonhamers. Ritchie made victory secure when he completed his hat-trick after good play from Robson set up the chance. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inverness CT: Brown, Mann, Munro, Golabek, Tokely, Duncan, Hart, McBain, Robson, Ritchie, Wyness. Ict Hat Tricks
again, from the BBC web site Saturday, 8 September, 2001, 16:09 GMT 17:09 UK Inverness CT 5-1 Arbroath Dennis Wyness grabbed a glorious hat-trick as Inverness Caledonian Thistle romped to victory over Arbroath. Wyness opened the scoring, Bobby Mann added the second and Roy McBain got on the scoresheet before the hat-trick man grabbed his second. Steve Mallen got one back for Arbroath before Wyness completed the scoring. It was the first win of the season for Steve Paterson's side. Arbroath have now not won in nine visits to Caledonian Stadium. Influential midfielder Charlie Christie had recovered from injury to start for Caley Thistle. Defence-splitting pass Wyness gave their side a dream start when he opened the scoring from Ross Tokely's through pass in the fifth minute. Mann stretched the lead with a bullet header from Barry Robson's corner on 14 minutes. Wyness was unmarked at the back post when he made it 3-0 from McBain's corner on the hour. McBain put the home side further ahead midway through the second half when he raced onto a defence-splitting pass from Russell Duncan. Mallan reduced the arrears from a David McInally corner two minutes from time. But Wyness completed the rout when he connected with Martin Bavidge's cross on the stroke of full time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inverness CT: Walker, McCaffray, Mann, McBain, Tokely, Duncan, Christie, Robson, Bavidge, Wyness, Ritchie. Ict Hat Tricks
This was some game. from BBC web site. Saturday, 2 December, 2000, 18:52 GMT Inverness CT 7-3 Ayr United Dennis Wyness grabbed a glorious hat-trick as Caley Thistle blitzed the visitors in a magnificent victory. Thistle took the lead in the eighth minute when Mike Teasdale converted a low cross from Richard Hastings. But the visitors hit back, taking a surprise lead with strikes from Eddie Annand and a solo effort from Hugh Robertson in the space of two minutes. Paul Sheerin equalised from the penalty spot after Wyness was tripped by Steven Boyack and Wyness sent the home team into the lead just before the interval. Hat-trick Glynn Hurst put Ayr back on level terms with a low drive in 48 minutes, but from then on Thistle dominated proceedings. David Bagan put the home side 4-3 up on the hour and he extended the gap with a 20-yard rocket 15 minutes later. Wyness netted Thistle's sixth from Davide Xausa's cross in the 79th minute and he completed his hat-trick shortly after. Ayr's misery was complete when Craig McEwan was ordered off eight minutes before the end. Inverness CT: Calder, Teasdale, McCaffrey, Mann, Hastings, Bagan, Sheerin, Christie, McBain, Wyness, Bavidge. Ict Hat Tricks
I thought this was the case, that Wyness and Ritchie scored hat-tricks in the same game. from the BBC web site:- Saturday, 19 October, 2002, Alloa 0-6 Inverness CT Hat-tricks from Dennis Wyness and Paul Ritchie destroyed Alloa as Inverness Caledonian Thistle won a very one-sided affair at Recreation Park. After six minutes, Wyness grabbed his first goal from close range, followed by a second from 18 yards, capitalising on a slip by goalkeeper James Evans. When Wyness slotted in his third goal after 21 minutes from just outside the area, Alloa knew they were in deep trouble. The pressure continued and with 27 minutes gone, Ritchie cracked in the fourth goal, high into the net from 22 yards. Caley continued strongly in the second half with Ritchie adding the fifth goal after 71 minutes before completing the rout with the sixth, and his third, with 11 minutes left. Alloa: James Evans, Valentine, Seaton, Watson, Thomson, Christie, MacDonald, Derek Ferguson, Hamilton, Hutchison, Stevenson. Subs: Knox, Walker, Gillan, Gareth Evans, Hogarth. Inverness CT: Brown, Tokely, Golabek, Mann, Munro, McBain, Duncan, Wyness, Ritchie, Hart, Robson. Subs: Christie, McCaffray, Low, Keogh, Ridgers. Referee: C Thompson and his four goal game DENNIS WYNESS saw Caley Thistle to a 5-2 First Division home win over Raith Rovers last night. The striker grabbed a first-half hat-trick, as well as a goal in the 71st minute. Thistle took the lead after six minutes when Raith keeper Simon Miotto panicked and handed Wyness a simple finish. Caley went 2-0 up when Wyness flicked the ball home and t h e striker completed his hat-trick with a volley. After the break, Scott Crabbe pulled one back for Raith but Wyness restored his side's advantage by grabbing his fourth.
