The longterm plan should be to give up on chasing promotion for both club and fans and spend the next year or two slowly reducing the number of 'journeymen' jobbers at the club and bring through more youth. If it all clicks and we make play-offs then great, but focus on Championship consolidation, more attractive football and a team that shows signs of excitement coming back. From that core of younger players it will hopefully reduce the wage bill and allow for the introduction of select quality additions rather than quantity to supplement and strengthen to aim towards getting premiership status back. If Dunfermline, Falkirk, Morton and even DUtd cant just steamroller this league and get out then we cant expect to either - some have been here years. Even the likes of PT have shown that its a hard league and not to be underestimated. Next season needs to be about realism and that needs to start from the board level right the way through.

Not disagreeing but it's long term unsustainable to perform consistently at that level. It will peak and trough as the better players are or the club does the more income is needed to remain at that level.- 142 replies

Not that it's relevant to us now but he's spent much of the last 2 years recovering from hernia and other injuries which he was playing though when with us. So that's Tansey draper and McKay who all left then spent months getting treatment elsewhere. That to me says more about our club than the players.

And we are paying what we can afford to be at the level we are. 6th highest budget in Championship and 6th place. I'm sure someone on here will have all the figures and statistics for footfall and turnover at clubs - right now we after many years of over-achieving are heading towards where we should be based on the finances and size. Plenty bigger clubs than us have spent years in the Championship with no sign of getting out, so what makes anyone think we are going to be different?- 142 replies

What capabilities do you see that makes you think 2 of our strikers who haven't had match time together will be the solution? Robbo sees these guys in training so clearly doesn't think they complement each other so what is it you see?- 142 replies

These stats are increasingly boring. Facts are simples. We have scored only 26 goals in 19 games which is less than every team above us (excluding Morton), while we have actually only conceded 22 which is less than several teams higher in the league. Goals win games and we dont have enough. Churning out the same stats in different formats for indivduals does little other than fail to address that Robbo has tried many player options and combinations yet has failed to find one that works. There is a clear lack of goals from other areas of the pitch - the midfield offers little and the defense aren't scoring at set pieces. We need creativity & goals from the middle of the park - perhaps then the strikers will contribute more, they dont have the ability to create for themselves which means we need to either alter how we play to get the best out of them.- 142 replies

Strikers goals per game is only a part of the true statistics to be considered. As discussed yesterday on radio - Doolan of PT is a double figure per season striker in the Premiership every season but has only 3 goals in the Championship - he hasnt suddenly become a poor player, but he can only work with the chances created. So goals per opportunity are a better reflection of player capabilities and given we seem to have spells where we create either a lot or a little its very much feast or famine and this needs drastic improvement.- 142 replies

Pre-season - we can only play those who want to play us. Bigger teams wont travel up to Inverness to play a floundering team offering little competition and we can unlikely guarantee the gate would even cover their costs - add that to our lack of funds for any fancy tour we are left with local and cut price. If that's HL and local lower league teams its the measure of where we sit. Average mid-table may be what is required to get the club into the black - our outgoings significantly exceed the incoming and now we have no TV or windfall monies associated with the Premiership and what it brings, then we are more reliant than ever on gate money. Right now our average gates of 2000-2500 will not support a team anything other than mid table Championship at best. Time for all to realise this. Agree on the last point about youth players and exposure and been saying that since mid season last year. Better playing 2 or 3 of them and distributing the saved 'journeyman' wages to sign slightly better (but less) 'journeymen'

Wont happen at our club or any other. Look at recent seasons Leicester, Chelsea, Man U - players give zero f**ks and wont play for a manager > manager sacked > super star form returns along with passion and desire. Unfortunately in the ICT case, there may be a few who could give a bit more but there limitations isnt desire but ability, they can only give what they have in their lockers. Sadly we have a limited talent pool and perhaps the style of play and tactics isnt tailored enough to that level as we are at the market level now where many players dont have the football brain to adapt to new formations & tactics quickly enough and any trial period eats away at valuable game time.- 142 replies

Or await shankland to return and sign off at Ayr with another hat trick and rip our defence a new one. I know where I'd put money......- 142 replies

Just shows that the unbeaten run supported by all those draws that did little than paint a false picture of our true capability and paper over the cracks. Many couldnt see past the statistics maybe now eyes are open and given our financial position don't get hopeful of any significant personnel changes to improve the quality.- 142 replies

^ Both have bigger fan bases than us, more money available and it has to be assumed this was part of the deals for either club when they enticed the new management teams. I will suspect a lot of teams in the league will do some business - but we will probably be doing the least and possibly most uninspiring.
-
Defender out -> defender in, presumably using the same money. Sensible. All these ideas we will be signing strikers and other players, yet no suggestions where funds will come from. Unless any Premiership clubs are looking to get youngsters out for playing time and not after any financial deal then its unlikely there will be anybody - and even some of those players may be less experienced and ready for first team football than who we already have. If Polly agrees a pre-contract with someone, I can see the club letting him leave early (if agreeable to both parties) to free up his wages (no compensation could be expected) - that may stretch to 2 new faces, but leaves another hole in our side and gap in quality.
-
He's already been in the premiership so not sure what it would say about him that it takes a chance at a 2nd club to take on board the level of application other than being a slow learner which may indicate why his crossing has yet to improve. His appearances with hearts have been due to injuries and he's not been at all impressive. Right now he has pace which will tail off with age so he really needs to improve his all round game otherwise his career will fade away - so nothing has changed since he was at ict.
-
Maybe while he was in the posh Edinburgh hotel he was trying to arrange this deal which he may consider as part of sorting out his team?
-
Shows where we are as he's being considered a positive addition to our current talent pool.
-
Problem being by the time we pay off the duds there is no money left for wages to bring anyone in.

Is not out of contract in Jan anyway? If not are you gonna position at VWC to offer a contract or on their board - If not how does the post help other than start a thread where folks can bash at OFW for seeing out the legally binding contract the club gave him? -
Stats can only show so much, Just because individuals have good figures doesn't mean they can and will combine together. 442 or 4411 other logical as that's what players grow up with and as we have seen examples of Aberdeen, hearts and Scotland change formation for matches it has a huge negative effect and results much worse than anticipated simply because they don't have players experienced in those roles and able to adapt - think we all agree our players have generally less ability. We need to establish the strengths then build around that so if we see it as Donaldson and Polly then we locate players to complement and create partnerships. The tinkering of these positions and players does have an effect but the real problem is the lack of creativity and ability up front - right now our players seem to lack this so no later how many tweeks we do to the rest of the park its not going to resolve in the timescale required
-
Point is though that EVERYONE knows about it as its been in the press and the mainstream media. This isn't just some silly post on social media for likes this is a person who is involved in a position significant enough to be at club social events and think its acceptable to shout sectarian abuse of any kind. Just because its happening behind closed doors doesn't make it either acceptable or that it should be tolerated. We can agree to disagree but the senior members of the club need to have a really deep look at the personalities and characters associated as the catalogue of negative press coming from the club over the last 18 months is highly damaging.
-
Why would it be unacceptable on the terraces but not within the club, its only important if its within greater society and not by those who are representatives of an organisation (regardless of public facing or otherwise). The club response on this issue IMO does not suggest a message has been sent out that it will not be tolerated. Looking at the tone of statements circulating around from clubs right now throughout the UK as they try to address various occurrences of abusive behaviour and intolerance, what we have issued is weak and an attempt to avoid the issues head on. Shouldn't matter whether its fans, players, board room or elsewhere.
-
Probably be the one and only signing unless anyone leaves voluntarily to free up wages. Nobody will buy our players, we cant afford to pay them off. OFW should be due to leave, just like in the summer once we offloaded Warren it was suggested those wages would bring in new faces - when considering the wages freed up (player quality out) V's those coming in, its pretty clear the bill has been cut and we wont be spending all our savings at all.
-
Fan shouts abuse at a game, such as the incidents with Polly - banned. Player does it, there's a tepid statement which takes days to appear, neither condemning the actions or providing a clear message of club position on the topic. The statement doesn't even address what the action taken was for - drunken behaviour, sectarian abuse or otherwise. This story made the national media and although the player took the content down from social media it is still on the internet via the press - right now the club looks like it has tried to sweep it under the carpet and ICT reputation in Scottish football to other fans is severely damaged. Its e,embarrassing.
-
The strength of the font, must be representative of the strength of response and haste of action.

Thread should stay as it demonstrates the abhorrent attitude of the club by it's silence and the acceptance by fans that religious hate crimes are acceptable. Deleting the thread means we are happy to ignore the issue. We've seen the rise of public racism in football and anti-Semitism recently covered on the media so its maybe not a surprise but it must be ironic that we had threads and posts in the past condemning OF fans for the bile they sing and chant when visiting but now it's out club and players in the spotlight it appers to be accepted. Right now this incident and thread represents a new low for the club IMO and if this is seen as the behaviour and public views that are transcended both on and off the pitch by club and fans then I'll need to consider whether it's a place I will return myself or with family.
