  14. Just back from visiting me old dad,a native gaelic speaker who at 85 still goes to every mod,he reckoned this year at Falkirk, male singing competitons that used to attract upwards of 30 competitors now draw 7 or 8,also kids at the provincial mods start dropping out around 13-14 and he has never known of a youngster who has gone through the Gaelic medium system carry on participating into adulthood.

  17. Qaulity statement fae Walter Smith, eh thought he was talking about the SPL at first,ya gotta larf.... "Walter Smith yesterday expressed his fears for the future of the Champions League after admitting that an elite group of super-rich clubs could strip the tournament of its credibility as a genuine competition". Gers cant compete wi rich clubs.......
  18. I was thinking the same thing the other night when i heard about this "Help for heroes" single on X factor, great idea BUT,why is it neccesary? The governments treatment and support of wounded and invalided troops in this country is appalling.

  20. While David Murray has now come out and apologised for his statement and saying he was taken "out of context" the fact is, the interview was "in the context " of discussing bigotry and sectarianism in Glasgow. To qaulify this with:- ?I was amazed to see what goes on between Dundee United and Dundee on the websites. In some of these websites it?s just as bad as Rangers and Celtic but because it?s not the west of Scotland it doesn?t get the same reviewing.? he can't really complain of being taken out of context. The Times reprters qoute in the article reads "Murray said Dundee and Dundee United were examples of clubs whose fans trade sectarian abuse on websites which is never mentioned in the media". It's fairly obvious that he was trying once again to deflect attention away from his own front door but whilst there's plenty rivalry between the Dundee teams and at times some unofficial websites discussions can get heated (as can discussions on all websites) it's always kept in check with many from both sides in the same families and never ANY undertones of Sectarianism between the two.

  22. Kin'ell Beastie, gonnae no dae that,whit a fleg eh got !
  23. I think these situations have to be looked at in context and don't for a minute think these armed polis go in wanting to kill or trigger happy, but intellgence (wrongly) had informed them at a very volatile time this man was positively identified as a terrorist and went in thinking he was armed and likely to blow himself and them up with him.The Polis that shot him reckoned he could not gaurantee instant death with a single shot so multiple shots were fired to ensure he was unable to carry out any terrorist actions. It's easy to pontificate that they are professional and procedures have to be followed but they are also human and whether actual or percieved, thinking you are seconds from death will make your actions more instinctive.Nae doubt mistakes were made but mebbes the surveillance folk supplying the intelligance should be a bit more accountable.
