Just as a wee aside, meh Brother in law,without realisin, drapped his eh-pod getting out of the car in Buckie on the coldest night of the year,pishing wi rain,it lay in the road all night and was well gubbed when he found it in the morning having been driven over! took it inside despondant and resigned to buying a new ane but plugged the ear phones in to see whit happened and was amazaed to hear Status Qou(he's nae got much musical taste) at top volume!! amazing it worked after that, so ya never know.

Maist interesting read on here in a long time,well done to both for constructive discussion with respect for differing opinions,(some politicians could learn a bit from u's both) i'm sure there's plenty relevant points on both sides but i'll stay in Caley D's corner as the consequence of Bob being totally accurate would stop me sleeping.Anyways,eh'll split my vast fortune evenly between RBS shares,Euro's,and a few quid stuffed in a mattress.The vast majority of my disposable will still get blown on a weekend on beer,the bookies and fitba and i'll probly just waste the rest.

I would never advocate the prevention of surveillance equipment ,however i would like to see some form of independant monitoring of it's usage. I am totally convinced speed cameras are now used more to generate revenue than prevent accidents ,with positioning being optimised at points where folk are more likely to be caught unawares than at accident blackspots.Today being a prime example heading down to Fort William and stuck behind a couple of lorries ,i know there is a safe long straight a couple of miles north of Invermorriston,where do they position a speed camera van? in the layby at the end, thus preventing safe overtaking for fear of getting a ticket and increasing frustration,but likely to catch folk heading north coming across the first bit of straight for several miles. I'm generally law abiding and police supporting but am beginning to get a bit wary of the saturation coverage and useage in all situations with no redress or room to negotiate in mitigating circumstances.

The only cow in a small town in Aberdeenshire stopped giving milk. The people did some research and found they could buy a cow down in Forfar, for ?200.00. They bought the cow from Forfar and the cow was wonderful. It produced lots of milk all of the time, and the people were pleased and very happy. They decided to acquire a bull to mate with the cow and produce more cows like it. They would never have to worry about their milk supply again. They bought a bull and put it in the pasture with their beloved cow. However whenever the bull came close to the cow, the cow would move away. No matter what approach the bull tried, the cow would move away from the bull and he could not succeed in his quest. The people were very upset and decided to ask the Vet, who was very wise, what to do. They told the Vet what was happening. "Whenever the bull approaches our cow, she moves away. If he approaches from the back, she moves forward. When he approaches her from the front, she backs off. An approach from the side and she walks away to the other side." The Vet thinks about this for a minute and asked, "Did you buy this cow in Forfar?" The people were dumbfounded, since they had never mentioned where they bought the cow. "You are truly a wise Vet," they said. "How did you know we got the cow in Forfar?" The Vet replied with a distant look in his eye, "My wife is from Forfar."

I used to be firmly in the "nothing to hide,nothing to fear" camp when it came to surveillance cameras,but having seen the over zealous use of speed cameras as a means of extra tax collection i'm not so sure now.I fear that pressure on police to meet targets will see "easy" targets getting pulled for minor misdemeanours and folk ending up criminalised for high spirits or carrying on in a manner most folk have been guilty of at some point of their lives.

Could they no just give everyone a PS3 with Sega Rally and dae it in the big lounge at the Thistle hotel?
