  8. Some one on the radio was talking up Bobby Williamson the other day. What about his shadow-like the orange man Jimmy Calderwood, has done well without big talent throughout management. What about Jackie McNamara, seems to be an up and coming.
  9. Having watched question time tonight, I now feel that 16-17 years olds also be allowed to vote. Not because of any of the limp arguments against, nor Labour or the SNP reasons for. It took the Welshman to clarify it, If they are old enough to work and pay tax, why shouldnt they vote for or against those seeking power. End of discussion really!!
  10. Agreed. At first I thought it was a shameless attempt at co-opting the dewy-eyed and notoriously unrealistic uber-optimists who would still be naive enough to believe the fairy-tale presentation by the YES campaign that the only thing stopping Scotland being a world superpower was being shackled to the English oppressors, but the more I thought about it and the more I listen to youngsters the more I realise that actually the ones who are more likely to vote are the ones rejecting separation and support the practical benefits of the Union. The inclusion of 16 & 17 year olds into the suffrage will create problems post-2014 as there will be pressure on the local and national governments and by extension the European government to bring down the voting age for all government democracies. By signing off on this, Cameron must be prepared for more strident calls to extend this right to this age group for the various elections and more importantly, be ready to make it happen. It could be that this is being run as an experiement to see what will happen in what is possibly seen as a great opportunity due to this being a one-off event (not accounting for the next one in a couple of decades in the saga of the Neverendum). I would be fascinated to see the turnout for this age group, having been an initial sceptic on the idea but now starting to warm towards it. Mind you, I am also tending towards the idea that it should have nothing to do with age and more to do with understanding. Three simple questions before you are allowed to enter the polling station - weed out the uninformed and just plain stupid and we may actually get a more representative government rather than what we have now, self-serving egoists who will say just about anything to pander to the masses because they need their vote but have no real intention (or capability) to actually do these things if/when they get into power! FoolPhysio - Which party are you referring too in the last paragraph, as you have just described Labour, LibDems, Conservatives and the ConDem party, and when it comes to egoists then you can include Alex Salmond too.
  11. Personally, I dont really think that allowing the 16 and 17 year olds to vote will make much difference, apart from making them feel involved, if they want to. How many of them do you think are interested in politics, or nationalism, or being British.

  14. Ceiran McLean laid pass onto Adam MacLeod, scoring on his debut. Sky reported the same but it was Adam MacLeod who scored. Looked at it on elgin city tv aswell. Stuart Leslie should have scored 4 but for a really bad offside decision against a player who didnt touch the ball and wasnt offside either
  15. Berra was all over the Welsh player and that was a penalty, it went in our favour and it wasn't given. Its hard to take when a goals chopped off but being honest Wales were the better team in that second half and at least deserved a draw. I thought our chances of qualifying was back on around 70 mins. Thats it though, absolutely no chance now. Change the manager and start planning for Euro 2014. Just saw the highlights... Berra: penalty, also the Adams tackle against Ramsey. Fletcher goal: the ball was never out of play, but there was an offside position before the cross. Double error, correct result. So don't complain about poor refereeing as most of his major errors went in favour of Scotland! BTW, it was the referee who didn't see the Ukrainian goal against England as fourth official. Shame on our German referees Thought that it was a penalty at the time, Berra and the rugby tackle. However, as it was analysed on sky today with the Monkey Hanger and 4 pundits on sports saturday, I have changed my opinion. They were right to point out that the initial foul was by the Welsh striker, as he looks at Berra and changes his direction shoulder charging Berra. Doesnt make the Berra graple look any better, but they are right, it should have been a foul to Scotland. Ramsay has been shown that it was a dive, or lets say he anticipated the touch which didnt happen, but his honesty was to try and get straight back up without appealing for a penalty, although you have certainly seen them given. Still doesnt change the result, we lost, although should have been home and dry with that second goal, but maybes it is meant to happen that way. Levein gone after Belgium game, Steve Pele Paterson becomes our saviour, with attractive attacking football, designed on the basis of we will score more than you. Scotland games would never be dull again.

  19. to be honest, it had started to look a bit brighter towards the end of the last campaign. But for a dodgie ref and a not so bouncy Czech we would have had a chance to be humiliated in Poland or Ukraine. Aussie game gives us new hope, only for a poor display against Macedonia and then Serbia. A good first half, another poor decision, well two if you include Berra changing to the oval ball, and poor second half display again. We had the players the press and many fans were calling for, and yet again we underperform. I know what Levein was trying to do, but its just no working. Time for an experienced man to aim for the Euro's in 2016, cause the only Brazil in sight is chocolate covered. Walter Smith, before Gordon Strachan for me. Levein must surely be feeling the coldness of the sword his is about to fall on. Belgium will be too good for us on Tuesday, and I fear the greatness of those two solitary points will make us the strongest team in the group, come next Wednesday. Its one thing to be pure unlucky with decisions, but the full 94 minutes tells you more in general. And we was not good enough. We lost the game when Scotty Brown was subbed tonight, whether through injury or being saved for Belgium.
  20. Burnley looking for a new manager too, what would the bets be for him going back, however dont think the fans would accept him again

  23. When you compare Doran's booking to Luis Suarez not being booked against Stoke, its just so laughable. But then when Stoke City's Huth wasnt even booked for his obvious stamp on Suarez, and the number of assaults the Liverpool players were subjected too by Stoke players, Stoke were lucky to only get six booked. That said look at the kick boxing between Stirling Albion and Ian Black, and it wasn't seen as a sending off by the ref. Some decisions can be explained by the speed of the game, some by being unsighted, but some are just plain bad referees
